Fun fact: there was that moment where Eddie Murphy stop to look at the poster of Sylvester Stallone who was originally cast in Beverly Hills Cop, but he wanted to make it a more serious and intense movie and changed a lot of elements in the film. The director and Stallone couldn't come to an agreement and he left the production and took all the elements and changes he wanted to do with him and went off to make Cobra, which is the poster that Eddie was looking at.
In the '70s we didn't have Eddie Murphy but we did have Richard Pryor. Watch one of his half dozen live stand-up films or anything with Gene Wilder, they were great together: Stir Crazy, Silver Streak and See No Evil, Hear No Evil.

Fun Fact: The red armored car was borrowed from the company called Federal Armored Express, which later had to change it's name to Dunbar Armored, Inc. due to regulations about civilian companies have the word FEDERAL in the company name, hence why Federal Express changed to FedEx. However 12 years after this movie came out I started working for Dunbar Armored and there have been occasions when I have done some extreme driving with one of the trucks. I even got one airborne over a non-marked speed hump in the middle of the road. The sign was even obscured by a tree branch. My partner saw it at the very last second, only in time enough to prepare for launch. I wound up banging my head on the roof of the truck. I was not happy. I've driven on across a suspension bridge in high winds as well. Your senses are working overtime in that situation. I driven them on severe rainy days and when they catch slick, oily roads they will slide across those roads. I even had the rear door of one of those trucks stab me in the back. Those steel doors have sharp corners and I was hating life the rest of that day. When I got home my lower back was covered in blood.
The director, Tony Scott also directed Top Gun, which you should also react to, Duaffy. The sequel comes out next year. He’s the brother of director Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Gladiator, and a new one released last week, The Last Duel, which was SO good!)

It was fun to see a young Gilbert and Chris. Eddie was sharing the limelight. And the return of Paul Reiser, who most people these days probably only know from the Alien franchise, if they've seen it. As for computers and security cameras ... Duaffy, your cellphone probably has more total compute power than the CA police department in the 80s.
Paul Reiser made this terrible action film about a computer-controlled office building called The Tower. It was incredibly bad. Doesn't really relate to anything, but it popped into my head when you said "probably only know from Alien".
This is my favorite of the series. I love Axel, Taggart & Rosewood spending most of the time working together. Their chemistry is on point & Axel was firing on all cylinders. Also, it has perhaps my favorite soundtrack of the series.
I like to think of 48 Hrs as the prequel to BHC, making the trilogy 48 Hrs, Bev Hills Cop (I), and Bev Hills Cop II. BHC III feels like the kind of made for TV spin off where the budget was too small to even bring back the main star -- except they actually did bring back Murphy... which makes the whole thing, sub par script and all, all the more painful to watch. Nothing terrible about BHC III I guess, but it's the kind of sequel that give sequels a reputation of just not being as good as the originals. BHC III is about as cannon for me to the series as any of the direct to video sequels to the Disney Animated Classics are to their respective originals (which is not at all).
Great Movie. You know Sylvester Stallone was suppose to play the lead role in Beverly Hills Cop but he didn't like the script and took his idea of how he wanted to make the story and created Cobra the movie in the poster in Billy house you should watch it also :) . You should do The Golden Child . Skip Beverly Hills Cop III it is horrible. You should watch the Golden Child or Eddie Murphy old Stand Ups Raw and Delirious.
After watching your reactions to both Beverley Hills Cop movies, John Ashton made me think of two other great movies you need t react to - Some Kind Of Wonderful and Midnight Run. Of course, you'll probably have to "beep" the majority of Midnight Run. 😆
Duaffy, Here in the US cops and fire trucks/ambulances can run red lights, however in the interest of public safety as well as officer safety, they do make an initial stop at the intersection to allow cars already in the intersection to move along and all other vehicles stop to let the emergency vehicle proceed through the red light.

Here in the U.S., any emergency vehicle (police, fire, ambulance) can go through red lights in an emergency. That is not always safe; cars going the other way might not hear the sirens, especially if those drivers are listening to loud music. So they slow way down and almost stop, they make sure it's safe, then they go through. Billy just ran through it and caused a crash.

Vitamins can be bought in almost anywhere and don't need a prescription. The clothes Taggart came down the stairs in were typical of 1980's Country Club attire...they weren't pajamas. Oh to be able to go back and relive the fun of the 1980's, this movie is full of cultural references to that time period.
Tony Scott directed Top Gun. This movie is a bit more action packed than the first movie but still is very funny. RIP to Gilbert Gottfried and Dean Stockwell who play Sydney Bernstein and Dean plays Charles Caine in the movie. He is most famous for his role in the TV series Quantum Leap as Al Calavici.
If you want to see a movie that kind of brings back the vibe of the original, you should watch a film by the same director, Martin Brest, called MIDNIGHT RUN. It stars Robert deNiro and Charles Grodin. It's a really great action comedy with heart.
It's one of the defining traits of a good thriller that the protagonists will be at odds with the authorities; even if they _are_ authorities. Like if, for example, they're in _law_ enforcement, they will be at odds with their shift sergeant or the commissioner, or whichever.

1986 Ferrari 327 GTS Targa, $67,000 with all the options sounds about right. That particular car used in the movie is a legit model, it can be had for about $250,000 from the owner in Australia. A normal resale price in 2021 for an '86 Ferrari 328 GTS is $80-100K.

I think you'd really like the movie Fletch. Starring Chevy Chase, Vacation is great as well. 48 hours is another very good Eddie Murphy cop movie.
And I know it says 327 in the first sentence, my cell's keyboard is tiny and I miss the correct icon sometimes and no edit option outside delete/retype.
Don't know if you have seen "48 hours" that is another great Film starring Eddy Murphy.
