Currently on my second trip here (first was a cycling holiday, this is a family holiday with some cycling for me!) Love the cycling here, the people, the scenery, the climbs, the roads all of it is fantastic. Will probably come back for a week in the winter, work remotely for a few days then have a few days cycling to get away from the dreary UK winter weather! Can’t wait to come back!

The only thing that pisses me off about Mallorca, is that i didn't discover it years before. It's a cycling paradise, "love it."

I really enjoying cycling there, been twice now, and will go again and again. I would like to debunk an urban myth though, the roads are good but not faultless, if you are going thinking that every road is like silk, they aren't. I would say they are similar to roads here in Dorset. After rain due to the nature of the soils you get a lot of washouts and gravel, especially on the more rural back roads. Don't let that put you off, just be aware you need spares and take it steady where you can't see the road ahead. My rides have all been guided by locals so lucky enough to get forewarned.

Nice that you worked out that the SW of Mallorca has some amazing riding which is often missed by the droves that head off to Pollensa every year.

Coll de Soller both sides is imo the best climbing on the island (plus amazing cafe at the top) along with Puig Major. Port de Valldemossa, Coll de la Creu out of Palma, Sa Batalla with the famous garage cafe at the top, Orient, Honor, Galilea, the road through Deia and Bunyola good for stops. For non cycling get the wooden train through the mountain Palma-Soller. And always stop by the roadside for fresh squeezed Zumo de Naranja 😋

@joshschrader4732 I usually stay in Palma, it's a beautiful city and a real Spanish experience second to Barcelona imo, so a nice place to explore in the evening or on non cycling days. It's a quick easy airport transfer, and it gives good access to the area Andratx-Lluc, which offers a huge amount of climbs and stunning roads, and I would either make a long day or use the train to Inca or Sa Pobla to access lighthouse and Eastern monasteries. As i livein the netherlands im not really looking for flat roads, got them at home! For me it's a perfect solution.

Awesome video! Im so curious to come and bike here for the winter months! Does anyone have good recommendations on short and long term housing? And is car rentals common to go to all kinds of routes too or?

It’s a long way to pack a bike from North America. . . so the Bike Rentals are important. My rental was better than my “best bike” at home. . .

Are there cycle shops where you can rent a bike (i.e., a road bike like yours rather than those "cruisers" many places rent)?

7:51 - in Spain and on every island in the Mediterranean there is no such thing as "locally sourced" coffee, as coffee does not grow anywhere near these places. You can roast your coffee at your place but you still have to import it from Africa, Asia or South America.

I live on Mallorca. I strongly recommend riders avoid the overcrowded and overrated towns of Pollensa and Alcudia. Especially avoid Alcudia!! But I always suggest people to focus on the SW corner, rather than the NW corner. More variety of routes, much fewer cyclists, less traffic and more interesting accommodation options.

Bone question but .... being fat but love cycling are there many routes that don't involve serious climbs, longish but flat. Many thanks guys

Hi Ged, the north side of the island is mountainous but there are plenty of flat loops around the centre of the island and along the south coast - hope that helps, all the best

Wow. A beautiful bucket list. I'm always out of place in my home city of carsville nirvana in canada, toronto, onatrio where the cars are king and the cyclists plus even the walking nice street views pedestrians put cyclist / walkers as a third world country. Cyclists and walkers are an after thought for streets safety! Drivers in cars are almost like me first mentality. Driving around trying to be like a fire truck or an ambulance going to a burning building or a hospital when there sometimes one driver in a definitely non emergency urgency.

Believe me, Sa Calobra CAN get quite busy. . . even October. I’ll never call it a rest day, though. . . 120 km loop from Alcudia

Me first! The car drivers. Screw everyone else that's bicycling or walking! Going too slow. Not in an emergency when in the car! Canada, Ontario, Toronto city.

It's a bit overrated tho. There are much better Mediterranean islands such as crete, sicily, corse. Much more hiatory and much more fun
