I sent this to all my dog owning friends and clients. I took my dog and a friend's 2 dogs for a hike. His dogs had over 20 ticks each, his are treated with Bravecto. My dog I used NOTHING on her, but she is healthy and fed a raw/gently cooked diet and is fed garlic and cistus leaves (dried) 5 days a week. She had only 6. Hmmmm. Makes ya wonder.
My dogs are 14 and 15. They are both healthy. Both have been positive for Ehrlichiosis for 13 years. The PCR test for Ehrlichiosis is not reliable per one of the top vets in my state who is an expert on Ehrlichiosis so I no longer do it. She also says Ehrlichiosis can be transmitted in as little as four hours. My yorkie has had at least 200 hundred tick bites in his life. Healthiest dog ever. I personally believe that being bit occasionally by a diseased tick builds natural immunity.
My dog began having seizures within weeks of his vet visit and receiving vaccines and oral flea/tick prevention. I learned the hard way. Thank you for ALL that you do.
Thank you Dr. Judy I hope some vets will open their eyes. I live on Long Isl and hike through trails daily. I check my dog ( double coated) every 1/2 hour while walking… takes all of a minute. So far pulled 2 ticks right off ….. ( the only ones so far) and then have been using the flea comb, wash feet and legs with water, and basically run my hands through his coat, and inspect arm pits ears etc. Also a hair dryer on cool to blow hair so I can see down to skin. Love your sticky tape idea going to start carrying a roller on my walks. Bought one of your feed throughs excited to try it. Thank you for your advocacy on the part of our animals and those of use who want to do the right thing by our beloved pets. I respect my vets but sometimes I disagree and I no longer let them make me feel like I am doing the wrong thing by not giving these harmful poisons.
Where do you hike on Long Island? I hike in Sears Bellows County Park in Hampton Bays, I live by it. I cannot fathom that you are seeing that few ticks! I am a pet sitter. One of my clients lives on Shelter Island. Her mini Aussie is a tick magnet too. Your incrediblely lucky your seeing that few ticks!
That’s cool! Has there been hikes where your dogs did not pick up any ticks? I spray down my double coated dog with a natural bug repellant spray and haven’t found a tick yet… or maybe I just haven’t seen them? 🤔 I do brush him after to take out the dried leaves and burrs he pick up.
I live in rural Missouri on 210 acres. Going into the woods during peak season is asking for it. Peak season here is April through mid June. Most people have no clue when their peak tick season is. Avoiding the woods for two months is well worth it to me. There are 10 other months we can go in the woods.
@@martincroke75 Well we have ticks all year long, however if you go into the woods during peak season you can pick up way more ticks than other times of year. I am sure every place is different, however it is good for people to be aware of peak season in their area. During peak season, my yorkie once picked up at least a hundred ticks walking in the woods. Off season maybe a couple.
So sad to hear about birds dying from these neurotoxins too. There is a dog owner who brushes his 2 retrievers at the park, leaving the fur to fly everywhere. I wouldn’t be surprised if he used these poisons on his dogs. And that birds picked them up to make their nests. So sad. I did use Simparico Trio on my dog when he was a puppy, but stopped last year.
Yes, thanks to your fearless advocacy for healthy pets, now I am afraid to give my puppies flea medicine! I stopped the flea medicine 2 months ago. Now I spray them everyday with natural essential oils, brush them daily, and shower them monthly. In only 2 months, their coats look and smell amazing. I am very consistent with using the daily spray and brushing, and haven’t found any fleas or ticks yet. I had a family member come visit me and they said they were impressed with how amazing my dogs smelled - my house doesn’t smell like “dog house” and my dogs don’t smell like “dogs.” Overall, I’ve had a great 2 first months since quitting simparica. I am not naive and I’m sure what I’m doing is not 100% effective (is anything tho?) - but the flea medicine isn’t 100% effective either and it’s notn100% safe - so I will continue with the natural route. It’s more work, but rewarding and so worth it.
@@halanasrallah640 hi yes I use Ark Narurals and Wondercide ☺️ I spray before walks to deter, and after walks to kill any bugs that might have jumped on them. Still doing good!
Oh my goodness, most educational video on neurotoxins yet. Loved your soapbox session! Our 14 month old Springer died while I had Serresto collar on him. Can I prove it? Nope, but my gut feeling is the collar caused it. Aggressive Lymphoma on neck right where the collar was and multiple organ failure. Maybe I’m wrong, however, it has caused me to look at vaccines, flea/tick prevention.
My dog came back from a walk with 10-15 ticks on her. She was on Credilio. I removed all that I could find and the next day when she got off her bed there were 5 more dead ones. I am going natural and hope for repellant…
Mine was painful, lame and positive. Treated and better within three days of the 30 day treatment. Unlucky us : 1 in 4 ticks, one walk in the woods, and low risk for anaplasma in my area, yet he got it! If he hadn't had the symptoms, would have asked for PCR.
My vet says I need to test my 1.5 year old toy poodle for tick borne illnesses because that’s basically the last resort to find out why his TK1 is elevated (Dec it was 37 Feb it was 12 and April it was 27). However I’ve never found a tick on any of my dogs ever…living or dead. They have all had consistently negative 4DX results recently. My toy poodle has excellent CRP and CAR levels, his blood work is normal, vitamins D and B12 are normal, his chest x rays and ultrasound last week were normal, his EKG was normal, he eats well and acts like an energetic puppy. 🤷🏼♀️ He gets a little time in my backyard and a walk around the block once a day, so He gets very minimal outdoor exposure and we never camp or go into wooded areas. Tick borne diseases are not what I would think of as being the cause of any potential issues. I’ve read different things about the reliability of the TK1 test. Testing and getting high TK1, doing diagnostics, and confirming the presence of cancer supposedly only happens around 20% of the time. And there was a study where half the dogs had lymphoma present/diagnosed at the time of the test, and their TK1 results came back normal. 🤷🏼♀️ The TK1 is supposed to predict cancer up to 6 months out but I’ve consistently tested 3 different times over several months and just recently did imaging with zero evidence of cancer. If cancer was consistently present or progressing during this time, then why would the values fluctuate and even go down at one point? I would think they’d stay consistently “highly elevated” or even go higher by now…certainly not drop at all or fail to get back up to where they originally were in the 30s. I’m not an expert by any means, but I just think this may be a bunch of testing and poking and prodding for some transient or idiopathic elevated TK1 in an otherwise healthy dog. I even did the innovative pet labs testing ( they test for digestion, detox, immunity, inflammation, leaky gut, etc) and his results were pretty perfect. His blood work did have a 5 for RBC count which is slightly lower than range provided and the markers for new RBC formation have been elevated so maybe that could trigger the TK1 sensitivity (cell replication/production)? This tick borne illness suggestion just seems a little hard to believe in my dog’s specific case Any insight?
Dr. Judy, are you going to do any nutritional consults again soon? My dog could really use help. I've paid for board certified nutritionists and actually just paid one at university of tn who said they can't help. One on the past just wanted her on tons of rice as if that wasn't going to cause more issues. I feel hopeless. Also, what do you recommend for getting rid of mycotoxins/mold?
What is the natural way to treat lime disease. My girl is 6 lbs, had snap test and other test w urine sample. Came back 50 when it should have been 30. What do I do? They want her on liquid doxycycline . I’ve read it doesn’t always work. Ty for ur help!!!
Ticks can be deadly for dogs where I live (NSW, Australia). Unfortunately the greater risk lies in not using a preventative (an estimated 500 dogs die yearly in Australia from paralysis ticks).
Any chance you can tell me or provide a link for the statics that you quote for dogs being affected, and by what products?? Where is that information sourced? Thank you,Dr. JUDY!
I wish I could take a hike and then find only 5 ticks on my one dog! How about 100? Many Lonestar ticks. And how about the ones the size of a pin head, that attach to long haired dogs.
Might be silly question but if all these non treated dogs are showing traces of these flea/tick control meds does that mean they are "protected" in sense of word? I'm trying to go natural with my dogs being that I have 2 litter mate huskies and over a 6 week testing of bloodwork their kidney readings were elevated so is it the Nexgard or was it the 2 extra doses of DA2PP they "accidentally" gave one and 1 extra for the other pup also "accidental. My girls just turned 2😢 too young to have possible kidney issues

Thoughts about the Lepto vaccine in high-risk areas? Risks? Worth the benefits?
When I bring my dog to groomer… should I tell her to put power, oils, etc. after right after grooming?

HELLO , THANK YOU / it is amazing information. DR. please let's me know where I can buy this natural product. it is available in Canada .
I find DE to be extremely drying to my dogs skin so I am hesitant to use the Buck Mountain parasite dust.

Should MCT oil be given to cats if they have had one of these neurotoxins? In the video you just mention dogs.
If there is a test for dogs to confirm Lyme Disease why isn’t one provided for people ?
