    Thanks my poodle hates to be groomed and I hate doing it. The groomer hates him and I hate the groomer for hating my dog. So I'm doing it myself so now I know why my groomer hates my dog. I still like my dog and he rocks a Mohawk.

    Excellent advice, thank you. I learned most of this by trial and error, but it's nice to get a clear explanation of why some blades work better for matted areas.

    Very helpful, thanks! I really didn't understand the difference between a comb and a blade, since both seem to accomplish the same thing , which is to keep the blade a fixed distance from the skin. But the bottom line is that a comb doesn't work over a coat that isn't thoroughly brushed. I know from experience that even after hours of brushing my labradoodle, I've not really done a perfect brushing down to the skin, so it's worth it to invest in a few extra blades. Glad to hear that you recommend a 4-blade, since that's what I concluded from looking at my own (human) Wahl clipper set, and what I ordered from Chewy.

    That was such a great vid! Now I understand. You mention you use a 30 blade vs. a 10 blade with attachments, is there a reason why? I just reorder a new 10 blade for my Andis AGC2 as I was getting hair between it and the attachment too often and it was dull.

    • @FurryFriendsZone
      @FurryFriendsZone  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there thanks for watching. It’s a personal preference with the 10 or 30 blade. I have had better luck with the 30z if the blade is dull it will drive you nuts. The biggest thing to help with attachment combs is to keep the blades sharp and make sure the dog is completely brushed out.

    • @FurryFriendsZone
      @FurryFriendsZone  ปีที่แล้ว

  • @josephadamo1450
    @josephadamo1450 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I need advice - i just purchased the Andis at home easy clip multi-style clipper - the attachment combs come in 1/16(No. 0), 1/8(No.1), 1/4(No.2), 3/8(No.3), 1/2(No.4), 3/4(No.6) (6 of them),,,,these are not the numbers you mentioned. There is no 5 or 7. I have a maltipoo.these are not numbered like the ones you are showing. I like the body short and the legs and face a little fuller. No instructions came with the box - so what size do I use for her - she is not matted - i bath her - do her nails and ears but this cutting is new to me. Can you help me decide what these comb numbers mean

    This video was great. But a newbie question. What do you use if say you have a golden doodle who likes their hair on the longest side ? I use human clippers and scared to move into dog clippers but with the human clippers we use like a #5 or #6 blade (again human clippers not dog)

    • @FurryFriendsZone
      @FurryFriendsZone  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there thanks for watching. I’m not too sure about the human clippers but to leave any length you would need to use an attachment comb. Those are for dog clippers they range in length but the coat has to be completely mat free. I hope this helps!❤️🐶❤️

    • @FurryFriendsZone
      @FurryFriendsZone  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there thanks for watching. Choosing the blade really depends on what condition your dogs coat is in as well as the length you like on him/her. Schnauzers normally have a short back and face and feathering and longer legs. So 7 or 10 on the back. Otherwise same length all over looks cute too. We have a min schnauzer in our hoe to do a puppy cut video that might help!❤️🐶❤️

    What does it mean when the size is labeled as 3/4" HT/19mm? I need a blade that will leave my longhair dachshunds hair from 1/2 to 1 inch long. Thanks!

    • @FurryFriendsZone
      @FurryFriendsZone  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Denise! Thanks for the comment:) The 3/4” blade will leave the hair 3/4 an inch long. If you want to have the hair left longer an attachment comb is an easier and better option to use. Make sure to use a 30 blade on the clipper before adding the attachment comb. I hope that helps! If you have any other questions please let us know!

      Thanks for commenting!! The FC/F (some blades say FC and some just say F) on a blade means that it is a fine cut which is a finishing cut. The ones that do not say FC are a skip tooth blade which I find are much easier to cut your dog and therefore I do not suggest using those ones. I only use blades that say F or FC when I groom and I recommend only purchasing blades that have the F or FC on them. I hope that helped!! If you have any other questions please let us know.

    I have a Great Pyrenees who hates getting his back legs brushed is there a blade i can use to shorten it up but not to short just to take a little length off

    • @FurryFriendsZone
      @FurryFriendsZone  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! Thanks for watching and commenting. Any blade you use would cut the hair too short therefore I suggest using a 30 blade with a comb attachment (the longest attachment comb). If the hair is matted then you will have to use a blade to shave it but if it is not matted then you can use the comb attachment as the hair has to be matt free to use. If you have any other questions please let us know!

    I have a question! I am getting a giant schnauzer puppy and the breeder says to do an all over body cut with the #7 blade . Do you have any recommendations?

    • @FurryFriendsZone
      @FurryFriendsZone  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there thanks for watching and commenting. I personally wouldn’t shave a puppy with a 7f blade. There are times that some people prefer their adult schnauzers done that short but I don’t think it’s what you would want to do with a pup. If you are wanting the traditional schnauzer clip that blade would only be used on the back and head. It’s really all a personal preference. I personally like a pup to look like a puppy for as long as you can. Enjoy the fluff.😊

    Hi
    I have a toy poodle and has the andis ultra edge clipper, last time I trimmed her with the blade that came with, but it’s too short and doesn’t look nice
    Which andis blade should I use to leave a bit of longer hair pls
    I am from the uk.

    • @FurryFriendsZone
      @FurryFriendsZone  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! Thanks for watching and for your question! They normally come with a 10 blade which is generally used for the sanitary and some use it for the pads of the feet. I would suggest using a 4f or a 5f which is a bit shorter than the 4. Also you do not have to exclusively use an andis blade with your andis clipper you can use interchangeable blades from other brands. I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any others question we would love to help!

      Hi Elizabeth! May I ask what you plan to use the clippers for on your samoyed chow mix and akita as they are double coated dogs so they are normally just trimmed in the hind areas and washed and the undercoat is blown out. Please let me know and we can further assist :) Thanks for watching!

    • @FurryFriendsZone

      Hi there thanks for watching and commenting. I have had almost every clipper Andis has made. I have had many two speeds. The blade really depends on how long you want their coat left and what condition it’s in. If they are matted you will need a blade that gets underneath the mats.

    I'm still confused on the blades. If you have a 30 and a 10 blade, which one cuts the hair shorter?????

    • @FurryFriendsZone
      @FurryFriendsZone  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello! Thank you for your comment. It is totally okay to still be confused by the blade lengths and we are happy to help with any questions you have! So the smaller the number the longer it leaves the hair and the bigger the number the shorter it leaves the hair. Therefore a 30 blade will cut shorter than a 10 blade. I use the 30 blade under an attachment comb and in the pads of the feet but I do not normally suggest someone who is new to grooming at home to use a 30 blade in the pads of the feet until you have practiced with a 10 blade multiple times as there are flaps of skin in the pads of the feet you can accidentally cut. I hope that helps and if you have any other questions please let us know!

      Hi Rachel! Thanks for watching and for your question. A skip tooth blade leaves the same length of hair has a finishing blade but has alternative short and long teeth designed to leave a more textured, rough finish. I personally only use blades that have the F for finishing as I prefer an even, smooth texture finish. If you have any other questions please let me know!
