You dont need some piece of paper to study something you care about.
Unless you're wanting to go into a highly specialized field like medical school, or be an engineer or something like that, college degrees are completely worthless.

@@LordHarv You're telling me the professionals who dedicate their lives to study of a field, put in into practice, whether it be through various articles and analyses, are worth less than a book written by someone who preaches pseudo-science and doesn't use scientific methods?
The whole point in degrees is that they are highly specialised. You think an archaelogist got there by reading half-assed, layman books on the subject? And by whom? Other archaelogists? And what did they do to learn?

    • @LordHarv

You're correct when it comes to technical fields like the sciences. College is definitely most valuable for that. But bullshit nonsense like gender studies or even valid disciplines like English Literature or History don't necessarily need to a degree to learn them well. Here's a synopsis of The Laws of Human Nature::
The Law of Irrationality: Our emotions and biases often override our rational thinking. Recognizing this can help us make better decisions.
The Law of Narcissism: We are all inherently self-centered to some degree. Understanding this can help us manage our egos and relate better to others.
The Law of Role-Playing: We all adopt different personas in different situations. Being aware of this can help us understand social dynamics and influence others.
The Law of Envy: Envy is a powerful emotion that can drive both positive and negative behavior. Recognizing our own envy and understanding its roots can help us harness it for personal growth.

(Business + human and mass psychology)
Then, The Brothers Karamazov ( Human Psychology)
Then, Power, Never Split the Difference
Finally a book on probability. Guns, Germs and Steel is a good book. A better book is A People’s History of the United States, Banking and Currency and the Money Trust, Mellons Millions. Like that.

It’s “popular” to bash on this book, even though the things they complain about consist of a very very small portion of the very very big book. They are not issues of fact either, they are issues of narrative, which every book has. To the common man who wants to learn about history, it is the best book out there.
