Dennis is incorrect in stating '59 Super 88s came with a number of different engines. Dynamic 88 was the entry level car; it came with the 371 2bbl and a 123" wheelbase. The 98 came with the 315hp 394 4bbl and a 126.5" wheelbase.
The Super 88 split the difference. It carried the same 394 from the 98 in the smaller body/wheelbase of the Dynamic 88.
My grandmother's aunt and uncle-in-law left N Ky in 1937 for Lansing and went to work for Oldsmobile. He retired from there in 1968 so he helped build these two beauties.
    I was lucky enough to learn to drive in a '59 98 4dr flat-top.

@@jaybrown1828 That lever to the right of the steering wheel on the dash is the trans selector. Mopar had the first push-button automatic transmission with their two-speed Powerflyte introduced in the 1954 models and offered until 1965. They also made a three-speed unit from 1956 called the Torqueflyte, which was cable controlled, as was the Powerflyte

funny story about the '59 olds. my Grandpa was in WW2, & saw VW Beetles during the war. he thought they were so cool/practical, & wanted one. when they started importing them yrs later, he was the 1st guy in town to buy 1, & was so excited. he was in a bowling league, & all the other guys didn't share his opinion of the Beetle & thought it hilarious. there was a ramp leading to the roof of their bowling alley, & his teammates would carry it up & put it next to the Bowlorama sign on top of the alley. he was stubborn af, & this went on for a few yrs. then he bought a 1959 olds, deliberately because it w/ the boattail it was the longest production car that yr. he had the money for a buick or Caddy, but deliberately picked the olds cuzza the boattail. never had any problems w/ his car on a roof after that for sure, & we became an oldsmobile family til it went defunct

That's a magazine predominantly for modern cars, not muscle cars (which they're always criticizing how great today's cars are over vintage car's six ways to Sunday, when in fact most is just their critical opinions) or vintage car's. Even Popular Hot Rodding went in the toilet, I think they went out of business, I hope so they're one of mags that incuraged guy's to put rubber band tires and ghetto wheels on vintage muscle cars and go "autocrossing, not drag racing. Nobody auto crossed their hot rods back in the day! Hot Rod was one that I read, Hemmings Muscle Machines and Legendary Ford Enthusiast among a few other's. I sold my hot rod after owning over 18 years due to financial issues in 2014, i didn't think this show was still around and I watch car stuff still and this popped up. I had a heritage burgundy 66 Galaxie XL that was my baby, nice cruiser, was a weekly guy at the cruise ins for many years and on occasion would go to the Nostalgia Drags. Only ran 13s but was just a warmed over 390 not a full out 9 second Galaxie
