Excellent question. "Work" with it is a tough one. It'll Slack Waggon the socks off of it and bring the BB up to the moon, so I'd have a hard time saying to go that long on the front. Another consideration is the warranty. Perhaps run it stock, or look at the Fezzari La Sal. It can come stock with 170/180, so I suspect that it would be happier at 190 up front
I was seriously thinking about pulling the trigger on the Tyee,.. but your comment about the chain slap noise and how it's the loudest bike you've ridden down hill is getting to reconsider. Is it really that bad compared to other bikes?
Hey! Nice video, thanx. I am looking to get an all mountain bike, something I can easily ride up fire roads, enjoy technical trails and feel comfortable going gravity. I never rode an enduro. I had a trail bike. I do prefer manoeuvrability over full speed... Though I like a bit of it too... 😅 Do you think I am going to be overbiked with the Tyee? I am 191cm (6.25 feet I guess?) and thinking of XL Cheers Stephen
Thanks eh! I love helping people enjoy this awesome sport. The Tyee could be a killer bike for you. Sometimes we can get a little distracted by the style or genre of the bike because the lines are so blurred these days. Good news is that we can just find the right bike for you without having to worry about what category it falls into. That said, the following questions will help alot: what bike are you coming off of, and where did it fall short of what you want? Do you have any "dream bikes" that you've been able to ride? If given the choice between jumping over something, plowing through it, or picking a line, which would you generally choose? As for being over biked it's hard to say, but these questions should help.
@@shredlifewithsam9352 Well just trying to figure out if I want to size up or not as I’m stuck in between size M and L. I like the reach of the Large but like the length of the Medium. I usually ride Large bike but this brand has funky geo numbers vs everyone else.

@@zachperez6940 Good stuff. I think you're plan is solid. If you aren't in a hurry or you want to consider other rad bikes as well, stay tuned to a few brands like Yeti, Revel, and Fezzari. What's your height, what size bike did you ride and what do you usually ride? Did you ride it with a coil or air shock? Curious cus I mostly hear from people feeling inside the tyee when riding it
Now that's a good question. I'm 5'10 on a good day and I was on a large. Typically I ride Med. so the feeling of being on top of the bike was unexpected. I was running an air shock on the demo they sent but I would indeed like to run it with a coil and see how that feels too.
I think a medium would fit well. 👍👍 And from the time I've spent on Banshee you'd like this ride in a "more sophisticated " feel kinda way. In other words, it's similar, but more refined

Hi super Nice video. i am thinking about ordering a tyee i am 176-180 cm should i run the large or the medium. I like a fun bike that i Can throw around but also Can monster truck. (Also you Just Got a new subscriber😉😁)
Hey thanks!! You could really go either way here. It may come down to how long your seat post is /how much dropper you want to run. If you go medium then you get more drop but less stability (and I'd recommend running a longer stem -- 40 -50 mm) but if you go large then you may have the magical stable + monster truckin ride that I did. The bike is so precise & stiff that you can put it wherever you want with some input.

Great list of bikes there ! It's quite a different ride from the Sentinel and 150, but I'm really considering the Tyee as a mullet. 🤔 That would help with the feeling of riding too high in the travel, but fine tuning the shock would also help alot. I'd very much recommend you also add the Revel Ranger to your list.
Yes, I think it would be rather huge for ya. If you really, really like a massive ride then make it happen! Otherwise you'd be faster, more comfortable and better able to run a full length dropper with a smaller frame. 👍👍
@@shredlifewithsam9352 so I will have to move to a smaller wheel. I will have to go for 27.5 rather than 29, because they don't produce small frames for 29.

It was bad, yes. However with some clever cable management and an STFU chain guide system you'd be rockin!
