  • Increase lung capacity, detoxify the lungs, blood, and balance the nervous system with this practice. Pranayama is one of the most powerful practices in yoga. Gaining insight into the flow of prana helps us to feel mastery in our physical practice, and deepens our awareness and intuitive faculties.
    Today we're learning to deepen our pranayama practice with the prana strap to learn our breath print, and how to breathe more evenly into the lungs.

    This three-steps breathing excercise, with a strap or band around the lower rib cage, is perfect for singers. I am a singer, and find this really useful! Will pass it along to my colleagues:-)

    Yes, it is true I breathe more on the left side. A new awareness! And a big thank you from Prague, Czech Republic. For the past few months the Czech Republic has had one of the worst COVID rates in the world and of course the country is in lockdown. I was told about your practice from a friend here. I am on day 20 and will continue. I do not get everything perfect, like crow for example, but I do notice the change and strength, which is what I need. I have told others in Prague about you and the challenge. It is helping them as well to get through all of this. Thank you for all of the work you have done to make this possible.

    This is my first 30 day practice with Tim and am getting so much out of it. The instruction and constant reminders regarding form are beyond helpful and so appreciated. It makes the practice fly by as well. My only suggestion would be to tag each series distinctively to make it easier to find. Most of this series has a bright yellow slash across it but not all of them. It would be so helpful to have them labelled the same so I don’t have to spend so long looking for the next one in the series. I think these videos are the best I have done and have recommended them to many friends. I am planning on another of your series when I am finished this one next week. Thank you for sharing your excellence!

      @yogawithtim  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so the kind words and the suggestion Darrell!
      Also, if you're interested in what's next, I would strongly suggest checking out the conscious movement community which you can access via my website yogawithtim.com - There I post 4 new videos a month that are at least an hour in length; if not, more so the flow is slower and we are able to hold poses for longer without feeling rushed. I've also posted other type of videos on there from mobility videos to challenges i've put together, to the breakdown of different poses. Anyway, I hope you check it out as it sounds like something you would be into! you get to try your first 2 weeks free to see if its something your into :)

    Thank you so much Tim ,you are only yoga teacher I can follow on youtube and you are so easy to understand because you do all your videos with love ,knowledge and intelligence. I just had eeg test yesterday since I have epilepsy caused by ptsd and after triggers by breathing and flashing lights they expose patient it can show higher spikes in brainwaves and trigger a seizure,I did corpse pose and put all learned from your videos and EEG was normal .Thank you .

    I smoked for many years and so never really feel that my lungs are inflated fully with air but the little air i can breathe, seems to flow evenly. In the Savasana pose, i always feel my head does not sit comfortably on the mat, so i feel tension in my neck and never really feel completely relaxed, so i move my head slowly from side to to side, which helps or raise it slightly on a towel but concerned that I'm no longer fully flat on the mat. Apart from that, all good. Thanks Tim!

    Staying current with the challenge and wanted to let you know that I am really enjoying it - I feel like I am challenging my body more than ever before. I am learning to really hold the poses properly too. I liked day 20 with understanding the gaze, and nose breathing. Wonderful job on all of this. Thank you Tim!

    Wow this was incredible. I noticed for me at least that each nostril seems to fill up the lung on the same side more and that I am barely using my right nostril at all. What a brilliant, transformative practice. Loved it.

    10 minute shavasana was amazing. I love three part breath- I encourage people daily to utilize their whole lungs, most people don't appreciate our lungs' capacity!

    Loved using the strap! One thing I really appreciate about your videos is how you tell us HOW to use our props whereas I feel other yoga channels will either say "use it if you need it" without further explanation, or they just don't mention it at all. Using the strap for breathing was a great way to get an idea of the symmetry of my breathing!

    As a singer I’ve been using diaphragmatic breathing since 4th grade. I never realized how when we do breath work in rehearsal we really are just doing pranayama. It cool seeing how different aspects of my life connect, it really shows how important the breath is I guess.
