A very effective help for my grandchildren. They are enrolled in a Montessori School and the teachers use Kahn Academy . Thanks for your help with millions children in the world
Eric Schmitt such a great host, rare u hardly see a billionaire with so much humor. 2- If philanthropy fits into any category of Nobel Sal deserves. 3- you don't need bag full of money to learn, just need to have a broadband plan and a laptop and u can rock the world.
I have to join the group of people who are of the opinion that the interviewer is treating Mr. Khan very rudely.. He is constantly cutting off his sentences and not letting him finish his thoughts on the question HE has askes and all the people in the auditory (including us viewers) are interested in. Moreover he emphezises Google's impact on Khan's whole journey and how impossible it all would be if Google didn't found them. Even if this is the case there is no need to repeat the same thing over and over again. I believe we all understood that Mr. Khan was invited to GOOGLE TALKS and was greatly supported by the company (as mentioned at the beginning). So please Google, do us a favor and instruct your Google Talk interviewers to set the spotlight on the GUEST instead of on YOUR accomplishments. Thank you! Going to read Khan's book soon. He definitely is a rolemodel in the education sphere of today.
You know? I totally agree with you, haha. This guy was cutting Sal off constantly. The reiterated propaganda of Google was a nuisance. I mean, we get it that it was Google but hey, Google isn't for not-for-profit and instead Khan Academy is. So, yes. I wish, they were a little more modest.
"Free Education Everywhere for Everyone Forever" what an amazing idea and a wonderful ideology! Thanks so much for caring for poor and rich across the globe.#KhanAcademy#SalmanKhan#
What a great story I wish I had this at my age. :P I did the whole Khan academy just for fun. Really enjoyed it. I hope this model is used. My girl friend is a math teacher I'm hoping she will be take this software. Really need a dutch narrator.
Salman Khan, You are successful because you have taken the most valuable thing you have, and given it to us. Become more valuable, ask google who is as free as you are to forever put a link to the khan website on their web page. If google and khan truly care about giving the world free education you both will do it, and you will both win. As a result we all will win
I didnt feel distracted by Eric Schmidts demeanor, thought his questions were well chosen, clever, sincerly interested and felt that they got the conversation rolling at a good speed. If you wanted to watch sal khan repeat the same talk he has held several times before go watch that, theres plenty of that on yt. If you think asking questions during an discussion is rude, thats a problem. Also the "he is rich yadda yadda yadda" comments are just petty.
Picked the words right out of my mouth. In contrast to news anchors, who BTW are always trying to oversimplify and sensationalize things, Shmidt here is asking really relevant questions
Very few people know how to interpret nuance and sarcasm today. I find this deficiency particularly emphasised in the Pacific Northwest for some reason. Eric Schmidt has an east coast demeanour wrapped around his attempts at humor, and people don’t know how to handle that.
Totally agree, I had a few learning difficulties when I was smaller and it has a knock on effect in what type of education you get. That also applies to many other people. The schools teach out of books and the teachers don't really ever think about how to approach diffrent areas of there subject there meant to know any diffrently. I'm studying now and I'm doing really well, says alot about the school system, atleast from my point of view.
This university style does already exist absolutely successfully: Problem Based Learning System at Maastricht University. Never learned as much as during my undergrad there!!!! implemented by the former Dutch minister of educational affairs. This is the best system, seriously! and I still don't get why other uni implements it....
This is one of the most informative interview/chat I have seen in a long time. This man is a genius, humble and funny. I sense that Google may end up buying the Khan Academy.
kahn academy should eventually provide an accredited college education that would be awesome you could study more than one subject/major instead of taking just one where you're forced to take classes you aren't all that interested in
Salman Khan says that teaching was viewed as a performance art and that's where the value is - but he uses this performance art /pedagogy in everything he does. for example I wonder how successful he would be if he spoke in a thick Bangalore accent? And he speaks about and around cultural capital all the time but never interrogates its origins...
Doing to much of Coursera course, I was about to fail at my university in math (really too much of coursera ^^). Salman helps me understand the math better than it was explained in classes. Succes. Merci !
There should be the option to separate education and credentialing. People should be allowed to learn using whatever methods they choose and then be allowed to gain a nationally recognized credential after taking an in person, standardized exam. People shouldn't have to mortgage their futures in the form of taxes and student loans to consume education that could be obtained in more time and cost efficient ways.
You definitely DON'T NEED TO DO THAT!!! Let Khan continue his work but KEEP THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF IT!!! Politicians are not to be trusted with educating anyone or with the regulation of that area of life. Period.
Even though this comment may be 7 years old, I have to say that I agree. Politicians know nothing about 21st century classrooms and do a terrible job regulating the education system.
It's a non profit organization. "Buying" Khan Academy is out of the question. Google supports Khan, but isn't the only one. The Gates foundation is also a huge supporter. Supporters in terms of money, that is.
I wish one day i can make my dream practical in education world. My occupation is engineer but my dream is so large to go on global scale to help people including street children !
The way the school system is set up right now is in a way where future "cashiers" and burger flippers are slowly weeded out. Instead of helping these kids, the school system chews them up and spits them out. Coming from a poor neighborhood, this theory is relevant x10.
I have to watch 15 lectures a week and do all the adjoining homework which is graded on Khan for Intermediate Algebra at University of Alaska SouthEast. Then my additional homework is on WebAssign. At Khan our teacher has been linked to us so that she can see how we are doing. Plus we have to pass each section of Khan, we must stay at it until we understand and do the 5 problems correctly in a row! I paid $633 for the class, $75 for WebAssign and Khan is free. Thank God!
Well they also bought Adwords, Maps & Earth, Android, and a ton of other services. But they bought it back in 2006...it's a very different service now.
Sam Chen Because the interviewer is constantly interrupting him, and isn't letting him answer questions like he actually does fully during his personal keynotes.
A very effective help for my grandchildren. They are enrolled in a Montessori School and the teachers use Kahn Academy . Thanks for your help with millions children in the world
I have 1.5 million points on Khan Academy. I am addicted. Its amazing.
Jason Velie He is an amazing teacher
Well done
How many do you have now, six years later?
Salman is making a difference to millions around the world. Those of us involved in making decisions in schools need to embrace these ideas.

Very, very important talk for anyone involved in any way in educational processes.
"Free Education Everywhere for Everyone Forever" what an amazing idea and a wonderful ideology! Thanks so much for caring for poor and rich across the globe.#KhanAcademy#SalmanKhan#
Kudos Sal Khan ! Teaching the world one video at a time....simply amazing
What a great story I wish I had this at my age. :P I did the whole Khan academy just for fun. Really enjoyed it. I hope this model is used. My girl friend is a math teacher I'm hoping she will be take this software. Really need a dutch narrator.
He is the reason im passing with good grades
Thank you very much Salman Khan for your efforts towards the world.
Sub7an Allah Wa Bi'Hamdihi !
No doubt this guy is smart, but is not about how smart he is. He can really explain the shit out of a problem and make it simple to understand.
this guy deserves Noble Prize
to be honest, i think his voice makes the whole idea possible

Watching this video in 2020!!! Now I know who is that Khan. I've watched many videos but never know the true story of this Academia. Very inspiring :)
Sal Khan is the man! I can't wait to start my 13 month old on the Khan Academy. Still have some time to go of course ;)

Sal is genuinely a legend. He is the definition of a visionary. Such a massive inspiration

Such an inspiring individual. Really makes you want to go out and change things
May be the most important innovation for human potential.
I wish I had these videos when I was a kid...

Excellent concept and work. One way to reach the goal of "No Child Left Behind"
I wish one day i can make my dream practical in education world. My occupation is engineer but my dream is so large to go on global scale to help people including street children !
I believe you can change the world. Sadly, not everyone in the world has the privilege to watch your videos.
iam inspired by your work thank u for being so good to the planet
The Math of Khan!
Brilliant.
Can we get Obama (or Romney if he's elected) to appoint Sal Kahn as the new Secretary of Education? Please?
I wish I could work at my own pace in college!

What is a "mook"? I can't seem to find that one.
would love to learn more about credentialing. we need a unified/global standard in this field.
33:53 the shirt is amazing.
"Systems don't self-reform", (listen to discovered practical wisdom), it's up to individuals to re-view and update history as context. (IMO)
SalnN khan is a great guy
OMG it's Eric Schmidt
Awesome chat!
Well they also bought Adwords, Maps & Earth, Android, and a ton of other services. But they bought it back in 2006...it's a very different service now.
yeah ~John Resig ,he build the computer science platform .
How does he know every subject? Anyway, it's like the assimov story, 'The fun they had'
He has something like three degrees on MIT plus at least Masters. Fairly enough material, plus the other subjects he studies by himself.
+ysfkfnd brilliant mind and good looks. 😍I don't see a ring on that finger so I think I'm the video he wasn't married yet.
and he is funny but most importantly humble
Yissel Herrera He definitely was married
Yeah, and everybody loves Sal too.
Assalam allaikum how can I join your academy for learn
Had recently bought this book..... very interesting! But this interviewer is so rude I'm gonna get my brick.
MOOC = Massive Open Online Course
(Like Coursera)
I want to change the way I learn
by the time your child is old enough to do Khan academy, Sal will have become one with the borg..
and please cite me Salman, should you use my comment..
amazing!!!
The lady at 54:30 ish was using a mac :P
Who's the guy on the left
Love khan Academy
I found this interviewer to be very rude..
Lisa Hutchings why?
Sam Chen Because the interviewer is constantly interrupting him, and isn't letting him answer questions like he actually does fully during his personal keynotes.
Grant Wilkins Sounds like a lot of American talk shows tbh
He's an ex-CEO of Google, Eric Schmidt.
Sal is such a great guy, with a super-sexy voice to boot!
This interviewer can't stop interrupting.
Rude Interviewer... doesn't let him speak at all!
S-So-sso-smart
Sal is my Pal
34:13 That shirt! Lol
Can I get Salman's e-mail?
Annoying Eric Schmidt consistently cutting off good points Khan was in the process of making is annoying.
7:21 hahaha
- I am not on Chromebook team! (54:20) LOL)
His greatest enemy will be the teacher's unions...
The long laugh at 8:09 is too long & annoying. Annoying interviewer. He should refrain of this kind of actions.
Disko Polo
Resistance is futile.
Sal is amazing. The interviewer has an awful personality.
go to my brothers school its charlotte choice charter
The interviewer is rude
but people listen to him cause he is one of the guys who runs google....google him haha
That host is terrible
Hehehe, hehehe, hehehe, except Google bought TH-cam, not made it.
Quizlet is much better than Khan Academy with the childish handwriting. He should change to computer fonts.
