God, late game the micromanagement is so overwhelming as I scatter around looking for specific units or buildings. I'm new to these types of games though.

Tab os the most important button to cycle through avaliable technologies for all buildings.
Then some easy ones I remember is C for City, S for stables, N for Market

Didn't know that rally points could automatically add units to existing control groups; that's really good to know. Latency in online play however is too high for some of these points, such as microing to avoid projectiles, to be practicable.
For high level play, given the latency, the most important micro tools for me are smart army placement, constantly changing stances depending on the state of interaction between your force and your opponent's forces, intelligently initiating engagements, and judiciously using the Patriots'/generals' abilities like ambush and forced march. I'd be interested in hearing about how you use these tools in your next video.

I had the idea of including strategic army movement , flanking, general abilities etc. but I felt they would make the video too long and are also not things I would categorize as micromanagement. So I decided to leave them out, because they would probably deserve their own video.

@@dave_hun9682 I would be very interested in that video! I think it's an aspect of the game that most top players do differently.

Great, I just played this game, and I thought it would all be automatic. But actually it's not. War tactics of you really empress me. Over all, it's just a pc game, but I have to play a chase board game. Thank you for your skills.

311 everyone. Even if it is not the main subject of the video, i have a relevant question about fireships. Sometimes (i m not sure if this applies only to certain nations), fireship cant make a full damage on a heavy ship. Normally, when the enemy doesn't use copper or citrus, when i attack his heavy ship with a fireship i kill it. But there are some times, talking about times without copper and citrus, where this attack only make a 50-80% damage on the ship. Is there any reason why this is happening? i have noticed that this happen regardless of the position the fireship attacks ( on the front, side or back of the heavy ship). I though that science research level maybe be the reason of that, but after a test vs AI, seems that this is not related.

Ron has a damage reduction mechanic for when multiple units attack the same target. I am not an expert on the details, and as far as I know it only applies to ranged units (not sure what a fire raft would be classified as). Take an example of 1 dragoon taking 2 shots to kill a villager, but if its 2 dragoons shooting the same vil, it will take more than 2 shots in total. I believe the same mechanic is applied to fire rafts when the target ships are being attacked by another ship of yours, so the final damage is reduced.

Wow, I think I'll try this. Usually I just go with "build a large army and point it at the enemy" 😂
