Let’s keep an eye out for the marketing “science”💩 and make sure to help us hit 20,000 likes 👍 if you’d like a dedicated video on the science-based approach for transforming your body that I recommend and start explaining a little at the end of this video! This really helps me make sure I’m creating the content that helps the most ❤️❤️ Love ya! Xxx
Please everyone like this video because we need the follow up video! You're one of the very few youtubers I really trust because you know what you talk about and actually back it up with studies
YES! I love your videos, and I think this one is my favorite scientific-based explanation of why diets fail. PLEASE make the next video on how to transform the body without the typical diet approach! Thank you so much!!!
Would love to see a follow up! This info should really be out there. It’s very hard to know what approach is best to take when dieting. Really hope this get to 20k! Great video 💓
WOW!!! Really nice work here. This video it top notch. I have been watching several of your videos to do a video about you. Probably never heard of me but I have been rating fitness channels as so far I'm liking what I'm seeing. I used to do triathlons myself as well for 13 years long before I became a pro bodybuilder.
It has scared me how much the diet industry influences doctors. I've had two doctors recommend trendy diets with no medical reason or any in depth discussion.
You are by far one of the smartest fitness influencers out here. I am a 56 years old women who has struggled with my weight for most of my adult life. But 2 1/2 years ago I started a serious weight loss journey because I had a few health problems that were a result of being overweight. I have since lost about 50lbs and I have kept it off. I purchased "Build " last summer and I incorporate compound lifting as well. My body is beginning to change and most people think that I have lost more weight. But I haven't. I am so grateful for you and a few other youtubers for your informative content. It has literally helped to change my life💖
So so so true. The change made isn’t some one time cure, its ongoing for a lifetime. You can’t eat better for a year and say that makes up for all the other future years
If we just all learned to listen to our bodies and work with them, rather then against them - eat when hungry and stop when full- we would not need all these crazy diets But we eat for so many reasons, aside from hunger- sadness, loneliness, boredom... and then when we are actually really hungry, we deprive ourselves I was anorexic for almost two decades and know how challenging food, hunger and listening to your body can be. However I am so grateful I learned to finally trust my body and to look at food as what it is - nourishment, nothing more, nothing less. Love all the with you do and how passionate you are about it - thank you !
I usually never comment on TH-cam but here we go lol. Since you're asking what videos we want: Something I'd love to see from you would be a video about how to combine running and strenght training, i.e. how to run more/faster without losing your strength, specific gym workouts for runners and so on. I know lifting is really big right now, but some of us also still love long runs and treadmill sessions :). You're amazing at both so I think it would be super interesting to hear what you have to say! Thanks for the great content as always ❤️
I love that idea sweetie! Once I've finished some of the upcoming videos I'll get to integrating that in my content (: thank you for the suggestion! Lots of love sweetie xxx
I would love this! I have to run to get a 2.4km run time down, but I hate running all the time and would much prefer to be in the gym. Whenever I go to the gym I worry that I'm wasting time that should be spent running 😰
You’re my favourite person ever, I’m a competitive ice skater and horse rider, I’ve been doing it my whole life and I go to the gym, I under eat though and completely lost my period so watching your videos has really helped me and I’m now trying to eat more! ❤️❤️
ahh thank you Amelia, I'm glad my videos have made you aware of how important it is to fuel yourself so you can keep getting better in your sports (awesome choices btw!!) all my love and support Amelia xxxx
I lost 66 pounds in a two-year span and exercised to the point I now have defined abs and look and feel like never before. What I discovered is that “Diet” or going on one is usually something we do temporarily. What worked for me was to gradually change my eating habits to the point where I now have total control over what I eat, but I don’t suffer while doing so. I eat pretty much anything, but I make sure to watch out for the amount on which I eat any type of food. The moment you forbid yourself from eating something in particular you’ve failed without even begining. At least that was what worked for me. Still going strong 💪🏻!
Honestly Natacha, I can't thank you enough. You helped me out a very difficult situation of an eating disorder and I'm so glad I stumbled across your channel. Your videos give life and are amazing to watch. I love you. Please do consider making the video about 'How to transform your body'. I really want to fix my metabolism back to what it used to be and gain a bit of muscle
you're welcome Lucy!! Maintaining integrity is really important to me and I just want to do right by people (: thank you so much for supporting me 🙏🙏🙏 xxxx
I’m studying to become a registered dietitian/nutritionist and let me say, I LOVE how somebody uses her platform to bring awareness how it’s really done and inform people about it on a scientific base instead of saying people what to do to get “the perfect body” without even knowing a little bit of the complex body we humans live in 😊 I follow you for a couple years now and I knew I loved you but the last years I appreciate you more and more because of all of these video’s 😊❤️
@@amyvillella I don’t know where you live so I don’t know all uni’s in your country but if u’d ask me for advice i would say, look up all those who have this specific education and get info from all of them. Ask how they help students etc... and just go with the one you feel like fits with you the best. I chose my uni because that was the one where tutors were kind and they do everything to help students as much as they can! So yeahhh it depends what you want from a uni i suppose 😊
This is amaaaazing!!! As a scientist, I am always so disappointed with all these people pushing extreme diets that have no long term positive effects on the body. You debunking diets with actual scientific evidence is wonderful and will hopefully educate people that your body is a magical vessel that constantly protects you from not only infections and outside damage, but can also keep you healthy if you just listen to it!
thank you so much 🙏 I know, it's hard to watch when you know how little evidence there is to their claims! And completely agree with you about celebrating how amazing our bodies are, I hope my videos can encourage people to do that more!! Lots of love sweetie xxx
You have no idea how much I needed this today!!! I have been struggling with an ED that has been on and off since 2012. It's been 8 years, some of them I spent being underweight and doing an excessive amount of exercise, but most of them I was doing nothing and was a bit too chubby to be fully happy. I recently lost a bit of weight and now I'm trying to remain this way without going up, my mind is constantly bugging me with thoughts of fasting or restricting after a bad day. And I was just having such a bad day today. I am happy I found you, I have never related to vloggers who had EDs in the past as much as you.
Thanks so much Natacha - I can't say how empowering it is that you cut through the ruckus of information that circulates in the media about diet culture.
Whew i needed to see this today! I’ve been so frustrated with myself because I’ve been “stuck” lately. I’ve lost about 65 lbs gradually over the last year and a half. I know that this slow/gradual process is better for me to maintain in the long run, but sometimes diet culture and the media gets the best of me. Thank you for this 💕
I feel like you're the only fitness youtuber that does scientific researches and not just talk about their great sponsors or old (false) fitness myths.. Thank you !🖤
There’s Stephanie Buttermore and Jeff Nippard here on TH-cam as well. Jeff is more oriented towards a body building type audience, but it’s still interesting to see the studies he presents and he’s also talked about undoing the damage that body building diets have had on him and his mentality towards eating.
As an obese person who has done several diets over the last decade (including when I was a healthy weight and didn't need to), I've experienced weight rebounds first hand. As I got more familiar with the science (via my biology degree) it started to feel like there was no avenue for me to reduce my weight and improve my health sustainably without it all eventually getting worse than when I started. But the conclusion to your video was a really succinct explanation of the gaps in the literature, and has made me feel a bit more hopeful- thank you!
I appreciate that you are able to convey all of this complex info clearly, effectively, entertainingly, and compassionately. A lot of folks in the health and fitness industries just talk about everything through a lens of morality and act like the people trying to find solutions within these abundant, predatory, and misinformed industries are stupid or lazy, and you always always always speak from a place of compassion and understanding without condescending or babying anybody and it means VOLUMES. There's absolutely no shaming and it really not only makes me appreciate the content, but it makes me cheer for you, because everyone should be able to experience that from someone in this community. Good on you.
thank you so so much for your kind message Hannah, it really means a lot to me. I hope everyone feels respected when they watch my content, I think we all deserve that (: all my love sweetie, thank you again for watching and for your comment xxx
As someone who has been struggling to lose weight for the past 7 years... And tried every new fad diet available, i really appreciate this video. Im still learning what works for me. Its been a very slow proccess
I am not sure how much of an active life you lead, but that is always the key thing to lose weight. It is very challenging to juggle a job or other responsibilities with staying active, but if you find a way, that would be good. Personally, I don’t believe 1.5 hours are enough per day if the person is leading a sedentary lifestyle. And there’s a difference between running errands at a leisure pace vs. power walks. (You probably know all of this, but I don’t know what your actual situation is).
This video genuinely changed my life for the better! Anytime I’ve ever tried to lose weight, I always cut my calories SO much. I’d usually see results but they’d never last. After seeing this video, it inspired me to make some serious changes in how I approached weight loss and I’ve found a plan that has helped me lose nearly 50 lbs and I’ve never felt stronger or more capable. Thank you Natacha for always being your genuine self and for being so passionate about educating people like me who have been woefully misguided our whole lives. I’m paying it forward by trying to share the knowledge you’ve given me and countless others. THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU, and please keep making science explained videos! 💕
I’m really appreciative of videos like this - it’s obvious she just wants us to be informed, happy, and healthy. There are no alterior motives, no product placements, just helpful breakdowns of information I, as a non scientist, would never have been exposed to or even well versed enough to comprehend. Thank you thank you for this!! It’s refreshing!!
I absolutely love how you built up this video, so informative! Honestly, I never understood why I keep going back to binges after eating healthy for a couple of weeks but now everything makes sense.. Seems I need to make some changes in my nutrition to make sure I can stay consistent!
Your videos and your training program have completely changed my relationship with food for the better! I was in cycles of restricting/bingeing for YEARS and my weight always fluctuated. It felt like a constant struggle. Since I purchased your training programs and started watching your videos, I've learned so much and feel so much stronger/healthier. I no longer cut out food groups, I eat more intuitively, no longer binge and it feels like I'm able to maintain my weight with ease. Thank you so much, you're an absolute inspiration!
I swear I didn't know how specific all of my body insecurities should be until home workout youtubers started releasing videos targeting areas I hadn't known were "problems". Natacha is a like a hand reaching to help you out of the swamp of misinformation and bodyshaming fitspo culture - thank you thank you thank yoooou angel girl
As a personal trainer myself and somebody who lost 20kgs 6 years ago (and managed to keep it all off) I freaking love this video girl!!! I absolutely LOVE that you do your research and explain it throughly to your audience so that you can educate them long term with their diet and fitness goals. Killing it xx
You’re amazing. I haven’t even watched this yet but you are a big part of why I stoped restricting food. You have helped me to look at food as an experience, fuel, fun, and everything that it should be. I’m healthy, athletic, strong and you have helped me shift my thoughts in the right direction. Thank you for being real and spending you hours researching to tell us the truth
I just respect you exponentially. The fact that you’re a fitness influencer who also supports science and the pursuit of knowledge is so inspiring. Keep it up !!
So good. So educational. So true! I was maintaining on 1200-1300 calories. Now i’m working on increasing and i’m able to maintain on 1800 without gaining anything by increasing calories :) your channel helped so much.
I love this...these concepts are very difficult to communicate and diet culture is so ingrained, you've done it so well in covering this topic. I feel like everyone needs to watch this video!
Whenever anyone asks me who a big inspiration is your name is the first to come up! I want other young girls and women (and also men, actually) to watch your videos and to drink up the well researched information you provide. You have helped me more than once to come out of disordered thoughts and eating habits, your never ending drive to be the fittest, healthiest and strongest you can be while also being unconditionally happy inspires me every day to put every aspect of my own health above what society says. Thank you so much for breaking down actual research based information to us for free and for reminding us everyday that you can use your follower count and social media for GOOD!
The truth: Most people are emotionally eating. Hit the root of the emotion that is causing the eating (the past sexual abuse, the stressful job etc.) and then eating whole foods as a lifestyle becomes significantly easier. Most people diet and hit af mental point oaf not deserving to be there and return right back to eating the caloric diet that helped them suppress the emotions
Definitely agree with this. Stress management is key. Non food outlets for stress need to be developed, since we live in an environment where stress is inevitable.
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO its so refreshing to hear someone explain how it works. Sometimes it is hard to consistantly ignore diet culture but this is so refreshing
I feel you, especially when the industry talks about their claims with such confidence, we're psychologically wired to believe people when they speak with confidence even if their message is wrong and that makes it so difficult. I hope this video can remind you of the science when you need it (: all my love sweetie xxxx
I’m a pharmacist from the US and I can confidently say you are way more knowledgeable about this than the vast majority of doctors even. I genuinely learned so much, especially regarding the many mechanisms that suppress outer metabolism as we lose weight and calorie restrict. This synthesizes well with some information for low carb advocates regarding the incompleteness of calorie restriction alone but I believe the benefits from the keto diet could be better achieved by simply targeting low glycemic index food, helping to curb hunger and introducing more fiber into the diet.
Looove this science-based videos! Fingers crossed this gets 20,000 likes. I so want to watch the science-based approach for transforming your body! We need to educate ourselves more on nutrition and not go by what the diet industry says. Awesome vid, as always. :)
i love your channel!! :D after having spent the last 4 years studying microbiology and molecular bio at university, i really appreciate how you incorporate proper scientific explanations into your videos and that you cite the research papers you use!! it's so informative :)
So so so so GOOD, Nat! I've been really off TH-cam lately because I feel like people are just so caught up in dieting in general. Science based videos like yours are like a breath of fresh air. Keep up the good work!!! 😘
I’m so glad I’ve found this channel. I’m so tired of seeing these work out influencers that claim to be all about helping while at the same time promoting different teas and diets and in my mind discrediting themselves because of bs science they promote. You’re smart and keeping it real! When I’m watching this channel I don’t have to worry about weird sponsorships because the ones you do take make sense for your channel and I can trust you. Keep being awesome !
I can't tell you how much I appreciate it when you do these unbiased, science based, videos! Thank you for being the curious genius you are and sharing that with the world!
From someone who has been subscribed to you since the beginning, I can say I love how much your content has grown! I swear I am an expert in this stuff now because of you. I love how you incorporate science; therefore, always setting yourself apart from many influencers through your constant creativity. Thanks Natacha. Stay Different. ❤️❤️
Thank you so much for this video! As someone with a degree in exercise science and currently working on becoming a dietitian, it’s so refreshing to see an influencer explain this in a way that is easy to understand! If you need to lose weight or have tried and failed in the past, listen to Natacha, she’s speaking the truth!!👏🏼👏🏼
Found your TH-cam channel pretty resently and now I'm thinking "Everyone needs to watch your videos!!!" A lot of my friends and people I know(including myself in the past) has such a weird outlook on weight loss and exercise. People need to get educated, and thats all! Thank you for being a healthy and real rolemodel in my fitness journey. You've litteraly changed my perspective on body image, and health! Love youuuu. (Sorry for bad-ish english. I'm norwegian)
I completely agree with your approach. My husband and I have been counting our macros for the last 13 months at a relatively high calorie level (I, a female, never went below 2000) and both of us have lost a moderate but significant amount of "weight". The biggest difference, however, is our body composition. During this year we worked out really hard, both cardio and resistance training, and we've seen a MASSIVE difference in our bodies. Like you, during this process, I've been wondering why people are so keen on rapid weight loss. Maybe because their crash diet is so uncomfortably restrictive? Looking at our experience, it took a "long" time to see results and was definitely a lifestyle change, but I'd encourage interested people to get into a long-term mindset and be very patient with themselves. Getting healthier doesn't have to be completely miserable. I appreciate that you're very real and factual in this video. Thanks for sharing!
Love the scientific approach to this topic and there isn’t that many channels available to inform people properly 🧡🙏 loved this and hope for more on this topic!
thank you so much for watching sweetie 🙏 I'm lucky for the studies I did that helped educate me to be able to properly research for videos likes these! Lots of love and have an amazing week ahead!! xxx
I couldn't agree more than mental health is so incredibly important, and I've had more than enough time in my life personally when that's been related to my physical goals. One important thing that I believe helped free my mental health from an unwinnable battle was understanding the science behind how our bodies actually respond to the things we're doing to them. Understanding what's truly in your control and then the most effective (and healthy) route to creating the change you really want, rather than a bunch of rumours based on nothing, was a big step in that direction for me ☺️
She is awesome!! I love her content so much, she has helped me completely transform the way I think about food and exercise and has helped me stop feeling so damn guilty for eating a cheeseburger once in a while. No idea what the girl above me heard when she watched this video but maybe her audio wasn’t working cuz she literally never said “it’s not your fault you’re fat” 😂
Honestly, you're one of the most knowledge-oriented youtubers on the web. You make sense of the research you find, with even more research to back up your information. Thank you for condensing all those studies and papers down, and explaining everything in such an eloquent manner. Much love from Canada!!
I wish I could like this video 20,000 times! I love your science-explained videos. It’s so interesting and it’s amazing how much effort you put into your videos, especially these ones. Thank you for sharing!!
This is so true in my experience. I was very obese and sick because of it. So my doctor had me go on a very low calorie diet. I dropped 40 pounds really fast but I was tired all the time. We moved my calories up to 1200 a day from 400 and I plateaued for an entire two months! In the meantime I had taken up lifting because I noticed I was feeling more energetic. I found I really liked powerlifting! I started working with a coach and they tried to convince me over and over that I would not progress with that extreme calorie deficit and that I was leaving myself vulnerable to injury. Well I got injured! LOL. I ended up getting depressed and deciding i would just eat whatever but still healthy while I was recovering. Just take a break from lifting and tracking food... and I started losing weight again. Slowly but it was happening. I got back into the gym but changed from a powerlifting program to more of a bodybuilding one. I started running for fun because I just felt so good and had so much energy. My mood was improving. I started tracking again but without having a limit, just to make sure I was getting enough protein and carbs. I found I was naturally eating between 1800-2400 calories a day. I have been steadily losing a pound every other week. Without even thinking about it. It's so cool! Even cooler than that though is that I've starved myself down to much lighter weights than I am now and I looked worse. I'm probably more lean right now than I've ever been in my life, and I'm a full 20 pounds heavier than I was at my lightest. I even fit into smaller clothes. I have binge eating disorder and dieting really really contributed to it. But now I don't restrict food at all and I finally feel like I'm free from it. I only think about food if I'm hungry or grocery shopping. It's so worth it to let go of rapid weight loss and just nourish your body. I promise you will feel so good!
Thanks Natacha. I love your videos. Content that's real. I've followed you for so long and it has taken me a long time, lots of research and learning from lots of people and using myself as a Guinea pig to accept all these challenges I went on to lose weight quick only ended up in putting the weight back on. Restriction and low calorie diets sabotaged my performance at training and made me obsess about food cause I was so hungry. Adding in a cheat day a week just made me binge and eat like I'd never seen food before and to consume everything I could cause I know I couldn't touch any of these foods again till the next cheat day. Anyways, I'm 41 now and finally I have kicked dieting goodbye. It is not a word I use. I now focus on eating nutrient dense foods that fuel me and i don't count calories or track macros or eliminate food groups and if I'm hungry i eat and when I'm full I stop. Finally over 8 mths of this I have noticed now when I bought a bag of chips the other day I had a handful and didnt want anymore. I ordered a dessert and shared it and didn't finish my half cause I was satisfied. Pretty much half my whole life I've starved and calorie restricted and if I got my hands on a bag of chips on a cheat day I'd easily polish of 1 to 2 bags and then polish off 3 desserts. I would never be satisfied and I'd lie awake at night thinking about food. It was such a great feeling that my body and mind could tell me it had enough. I don't need to binge cause if I want a snack tomorow I allow myself. My training has improved. Strength improved but most importantly my relationship with food has improved. This one was the hardest and also accepting the body I have been given and loving the healthiest and strongest version of myself. Lots of love to you 😘♥️
This is the best youtube video i’ve ever seen to help me with my anorexia recovery. It’s stopped me from being scared of food and the way that you put the information was so easy to understand. Thank you Natacha ❤️
Dear natacha, thank you so much for all the hard work and time you pit in all your content. I actually deleted myfitnesspal today after bindge watching your videos the last couple of days. You made me realize that i have a problem i was doing 1 hour on the spin bike , your at home guide, another ebook and switching sydney cummings workouts wich added up to 3 or more hours of workouts then my daily life on top. I restrict calories to a max of 1800 every day and i could not stop thinking about food. (I did lose 12 kilos so i am down to 56 kilos , but i realize fat los is one thing but i need to feed my muscles to actually look good) you made me realize i need to back up and eat more so i can get my period back it's bin 93 days since my last on. So tomorrow i am getting back to my big love yoga and restrict working out to a max of 1,5 hours a day . Thank you for all you do
I love these science explained videos and appreciate how much time and energy you pour into them. I also love the matter of fact and non-judgemental way you talk about nutrition and body weight. This to me is what body positivity is all about. I cannot wait for your body transformation video! Thank youuu 🤗
holyshit Natacha, this is such an underrated video and I can't even.... The research is insane. the effort put into editing al the little articles screenshots and scenes into the vid is looked over so quickly but done perfect. The way the information is provided by you is undescribably comforting, clear and 'organised'. Really appreciate this. Got yourself a new subscriber looking forward to watching the rest of your video's and gaining more knowledge
Natacha, I appreciate every single video you make for us with science explanation. I’m immensely grateful that due to your science-based, what I eat in a day & training videos I stopped fearing any type of food! Moreover, I am interested in biophysics and biochemistry. You are smart, beautiful, enthusiastic and so talented. Spreading loads of love ❤️
As a 22 yr old female who is pursuing her masters in the sciences and has grown up with eating disorders, I really respect and appreciate the videos you put out and i'm sure i'm not the only one!
You are the only youtuber I've ever been able to find that doesn't just push the next diet fad. You've explained all of this, I understand, and I was literally about to start a caloric deficit to lose weight. Thank you for explaining everything. Thank you for always following the science!! Excited for the next video! :)
Thank you Coach Greg for showing me this person. I don't even care what she talks about I just like to hear her beautiful accent. After watching: can't say that I learned anything new, but it certainly helped to structure my knowledge.
You're a great role model for young women in how to overcome hating yourself and finally be in a place of self acceptance and love. Where you are kind to yourself and your body. Good on you! Xx
This is great !! So the question is ... How do we “fix” our bodies, repair them from the damage done by our diets ... ?? Please can u address this ? Love you, you explain science in a down to earth way and I appreciate that a lot !
You explained this better than my exercise physiology professor 😂 Have you ever thought of being a professor? you are a wonderful explainer and teacher. You are such an inspiration in my life. I hope you are getting better with your injury!!
I appreciate the fact that you do critical (actual) research for your videos so much, which makes watching them even more interesting. Loved this video, I'm a big fan of your channel and your positive, yet realistic, mindset. Your videos really help me and I look forward to a new video every time :) xxx
LOVE THIS CONTENT. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video! The amount and depth of information was amazing and I think we need more voices like your’s speaking up about these topics.

Took me a long time to learn but so worthwhile
Check out Stephanie buttermore! she went all in last year to fix her metabolism and talks a lot about the science behind it
HappilyHealthFull this is so true. I am the leanest I’ve ever been with no restriction- just listening to my body.

I’m studying to become a registered dietitian/nutritionist and let me say, I LOVE how somebody uses her platform to bring awareness how it’s really done and inform people about it on a scientific base instead of saying people what to do to get “the perfect body” without even knowing a little bit of the complex body we humans live in 😊
I follow you for a couple years now and I knew I loved you but the last years I appreciate you more and more because of all of these video’s 😊❤️

Please do a video about how to transform your body: science expained... I would love to learn more!!

I think studies show that weight loss surgery corrects hormone levels.
Best diet. Is just something you can stick to.
Greg is the best.
Yes! I’m a big believer in the mental aspect of all parts of life, especially weight loss and the mentality with it.

I think people so easily disregard how important ur mental health is and how much this coincides with achieving your physical goals.
