According to their spec. sheet and the feedback on Reddit, this camera doesn't support RTSP or ONVIF. So it's pretty useless outside of their own mobile software (and all the restrictions that brings with it - forced Cloud subscription for better download capability, application lock-in, etc.) Messing around with the SD card directly is not an option once you've got the thing mounted 20 feet up, so that's no alternative. As I said on your last camera review - why bother with these cameras when there are cameras that support both RTSP and ONVIF and can therefore be used with ANY software, so are much, much more versatile. Tapo, Annke, Hikvision, Vivotek, etc (and Reolink themselves) make far cheaper alternatives that are fully compliant.
This camera works great with the Reolink HomeAssistant integration (something I haven't included in the review, but briefly tested because it was auto-discovered by my setup). While some users might have other needs, I'm pretty sure for the average user having a fully working & nice manufacturer provided app & experience is more valuable than the need for specific protocol support. Most people you will ask will always prefer a just works plug & play solution over the "it supports everything you can think off" but you need to tinker with it. Have you actually tried this camera or any Reolink camera to see how their download works? There is nothing forced for better download capability. Live view, Recording Playback as well as Recording Download works just great without any cloud subscription. Like I said in my review this camera has a pretty unique set of features that I think no other manufacturer is offering right now. I'm curious though if there is anything similar on the market, please suggest it. I would love to take a look.
@@voltlog Is the "average user" going to be watching this channel? Nope. Are those who like to "tinker" going to be watching this channel? Yes. So my point remains - why lock yourself into a proprietary solution when there are alternatives for a cheaper price that also support decades old industry standards? Makes no sense. If you simply want vendor lock-in and a mobile app., then that's pretty much matched by ANY security camera you can find out there. I just prefer a solution that works from anywhere - Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iOS - via ANY software I happen to want to use. :)
Still working on it, several prototypes in the works. There are issues with JLCPCB not being able to solder the ASIC chips properly.. again and again... maybe I'll do a video on that topic.
Another free stuff review 🤔

how is the crypto miner ASIC PCB project going??

@voltlog interesting also good idea .
I assume it is a bga maybe it is footprint related ? Or did you try a rework reflow at home?
