This feels like kotobukiya attempting at schooling bandai for their 30MS kits. One thing I love about this hobby is watching how not only these companies evolve in their strategies but their quality and engineering. Fun to watch over the years
I dont know how far we can say its fair to say "school" Bandai, considering Bandai came out with the idea first and Koto have a LOT of catching up to do on that front but at the same time Koto do make a lot of quality kits so it'll be interesting who pushes the next envelope and comes out with the next "upgrade" to the idea.
@@PearlJam2k6 Bandai releasing their product first doesn't necessarily mean it was in development first or their idea first. We have no idea how many years these were actually in product development prior to prototypes being shown to us, and release. In terms of the actual girl parts of the kit, Bandai very much has some catching up to do. The block 2 and 3 bodies Koto is using now are really nice for all the engineering that's gone into them. Bandai's real advantage comes from its price point which should be praised because that drives competition.
I totally agree, she is amazing Koto is going all out to show their superiority when it comes to mecha musume kits with the Buster Dolls and the Megalomaria line
I personally like the "swiss cheese" aesthetic, kind of gives me Bionicle or Centurions vibes. Now this is definitely subjective, but I wish they gave us an option to have more armor or something on the torso, especially the midriff.
When they announced these I was only hyped for this one and the tank one. I built this one and was so blown away I ordered the knight and paladin versions also.
The only reason bandai can square up is how cheap 30MS/30mm are but Koto's face plates blow bandai out the water alongside good design. Koto is good at making tasteful tummy showing.
You forgot to mention about how easy to remove the body section if you want to paint the kit. That's the real upgrade in the design, and there're zero seam line on the legs (except the feet)
I'm not a fan of hexagear swiss cheese design, but I love having customizable options, so I'm a bit on the fence about all these extra 3mm holes. The gun looks terrible with hexagear holes imo. The girl's body double back mounting points seems ok. Overall I love the refined joint system and soft curved body sculpt and face design. So I would rate this at the top. The mk2 body mechanic looks to have the best posing articulation of any other kit to me so far.
Im looking forward to getting mine, not even really sure what i'll do with it but the concept seems fine and im really curious to see this VS the 30MS sets.
Waiting for the Tank of the line to come out. I really like the hair options, and face for that one in particular. If nothing else, they make for great base bodies to kitbash with other Megami device/ frame arms girl etc.
goddamm, thought susnowoo’s figure was peak but all the little refinements make her look so seamless and fluid when posing. Just wondering tho how u improve head motion most neck joints/ball joints without making them too limp on megami kits coz found mine most r too stiff/tight? Its noice knowing gunner’s r noice and great vid mb for yappin soo much😅
The engineering here is cool. Would like to see a more realistic military girl version of these. Also, wish the skirt and top could pop on top of the default body pieces. The shoes I get, because the feet are too small for it.. but having to swap out major body parts to add clothes is kinda silly.
The new body engineering they're using for the kit is pretty fun, but it does have some puzzling design decisions. The skirt being shaped so oddly along the hips makes it look a lot less believable as a design, which is weird because Koto has already done skirt designs properly before. The holes everywhere on the equipment also makes them look pretty cheap, but I guess the primary pull of the kit is being a slightly cheaper but high quality body option to build customs off of, so the accessories not being all that desirable is an acceptable design decision.
Looks solid but I do hope they get more body diversity and different art directions going with future kits. I don't care about compatibility, having many variants of the near same proportions isn't for me. Same for all the unsightly hardpoints. I have been getting into Chinese models such as the Furai Arcee & Windblade and the ling cage incarnation FANDI. Premium kits with very nice tall proportions on these, closer to realistic proportions. The only drawback being that much like the RG Eva kits they lack a proper 3mm attachment hole.

The Block2 articulation is crazy but Megalomaria gets more insane, Kotobukia is really styling on Bandai

Wow, the improvments to the joint system are subtle but really make a huge difference! And the overall sculpt looks improved. Very impressed!

Just completed my own gunner, a really nice build experience! It all felt a bit more premium than previous kits. Can definitely recommend!
Runner Box-Art looks fantastic and amazing idea! I thought it looks almost like a 3D clear parts no matter what angle this looks.
