@@William92304 no, there is just the volume knob on the Baretta Special. Just replaced the std pick up, wiring to max gain, all wire connected. Don't remember the scheme but you know what I mean.
Same here- Dimarzio Super Distortion, and minor upgrades to tremolo (brass block, bridge saddles, all inexpensive) and I play it daily. She screams of the 80’s!
They are great for the money. I have a white one, white headstock, maple neck and fingerboard. Plays like a dream. I had one in the 80s and I later regretted trading it for a Strat back then. So glad to have a Baretta again! ❤
Just got mine, this is the worst sounding guitar I've ever played The sound is extremely tinny and distorted I can't see how anyone thinks these sound good out of the box
@@adambolian4425i just did a proper setup, changed the strings, intonation and so forth. Plays amazing even though the stock pickup ain’t the best one out there
You’re 100% correct! I got the purple. I’m seriously considering picking up a couple more. I really don’t think there is a better guitar in that price range. Terrific playing as usual…🔥
I bought one in Amazon about 5 years ago, I paid $ 180, it was ok for the money I paid, but I remember the Kramer American my brother bought for $ 450 back in the 80s, and it was really amazing, for the price he paid
@@CW-yr3us yeah maybe the one my brother bought, it sounded and felt Amazing on the neck, I cannot say the same about the $ 180 guitar bought in amazon
F**k, that was amazing! You killed it, man! I definitely need to tune up my guitar skills, maybe even getting one of those guitars. Nice shredding, man! Nice!
Built a guitar from scratch that is similar to the Baretta but the headstock is bigger and has the skunk stripe, has a Duncan from a Les Paul and has a Floyd rose on it and man it plays like a killer. Easily my favorite guitar
Out of all my guitars I reach for my baretta special way more than any of them. I feel bad that I don’t play my others as much since I got it. Played great from the factory but did all the recommended upgrades. Graphtech nut, locking tuners, minor bridge upgrade, taking the table bleed out. Absolutely amazing guitar for the $180
Aside from the manufacturing of guitars becoming cheaper, the main reason many of these 'cheap' name brand guitars have come out of the woodwork in the last few years is the understanding of the brand/value proposition. If you buy this guitar and it sounds good 'especially for the price' they hope (and they're usually right) that the next guitar you buy will be more expensive but will be of the same brand. Creating a lifelong customer and brand ambassador for 250-300 dollars is good business.
I have the blue also along with a USA Rhoads, BC Rich custom shop gunslinger, USA Strat, ESP, Iban🎉z Prestige S and I STILL PLAY THE KRAMER more than all of the above listed combined, sounds like I’m full of crap, but I swear I absolutely love the Baretta Special, it blew my mind when I got it it’s like the neck was custom-made for my hand that sells the guitar on its own. The neck is phenomenal for the price. Absolutely love the silky, smooth maple with perfect rounded fret ends ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ No wonder, Guitar Player magazine named it Editors Choice “Best Budget Guitar” Guitar World gave it Budget Platinum Award and rightfully so 👍🏻⚡️
I agree. 200 US Dollars and it plays and sounds better than some of my guitars that are valued 10X that amount. I upgraded the tuners to locking Gotoh's and I have a Fender bridge I am going to install soon. I fully expected to swap the pickup, but it sounds DAMN good! Kinda like a Duncan JB.
Hi, I replaced the plastic nut with a tusq 6000 nut, the bridge was awful but got it replaced you should have no tuning issues. I replaced the tuners with gutter locking tuners, it plays like a dream the frets and neck are amazing beautiful guitar’s just do a few mods on it it’s worth it 👍
It makes it the volume button sound more fluid when turning up and down, the capacitor (orange in colour) makes the volume cut off like an Its an Off switch when turning it down
I got the purple and its super light. Just got it Thursday and it tore my hand with the fret ends. I have a stumac file and worked on it for about 15 minutes and lowered the pickup - now it's good to go. Cheers worth the 229 it goes for now. It was so cheap didn't ask for a discount.
Got one (black) and I love mine. Don’t know why or how they sell them so cheap. The stock pickup is also very nice. It’s an alnico with great tone (not thin) with a lot of balls. Probably the best guitar for the money currently out there. Didn’t want to let the cat out the bag but we need more guitar players and get our youth away from the mind poisoning and culture of sh!tty immoral rap/hip hop.
kramer wants to raise the price of these to $425 they are loosing money with there high end baretta 84 $850 .to many say the 84 is just slightly better than the $300 baretta .so go out and buy 2 barettas for the price of the kramer 84 usa made guitar
Agree, have a black one. Just replaced the original pickup with a Dimarzio Super Distortion. We are into stratosphere now, just with 90£ more.
I'm thinking about going with a dimebucker
No Kramer anymore....
I have that pickup around thinking about getting a Kramer to put it in ! Did you wire it to a push pull pot?

What are you playing though? It sounds great! The neck was bit chunky for me but I’ll have to revisit it.
What about tuning stability? That shape of the headstock (angled headstock), will this affect the tuning stablity?

How do you dive on a V trem like that and stay in tune?
how does one achieve this tone
Mine doesn't stay in tune at all, even when barely touching the trem bar
Remove the middle tremolo spring and oil the nut, mine stays in tune perfectly now

What tremolo bridge you are using?

How well does the tuning hold with dive bombs?
I wish my guitars could play that good for me when I bought them, or rather I wish I knew how to fucking play guitar lol
