Just gonna add my .2 cents I cut that brace about 1 inch past oil pan and was able to remove oil pan by loosing up motor mount bolts and lifting trans motor with jack about an inch oil pan came right out. I welded 1/4 inch x 3 inch plates on brace and drilled 4 holes now i can remove 4 bolts and slide it right off for oil pan removal.
So I broke off a valve cover fastener. I have to drill out the stud, but I can’t get shavings in the valve cover area. well I did will this work for getting them out being the little metal shards from having to drill out the fastener and replace the threads
I had the same failure on lifter and cam looked the same changed lifters and new cam got the magnetic oil plug. It's been about 8 months, and 3 oil changes still getting silver glitter in oil non magnetic. Thinking of dropping oil pan and checking rod bearings.
@@The1st60ft hey man, Ive been a long time follower. Finally starting to mod after 7 years owning a 5th gen l99. I want to do the GPI vvt stage 1 cam but your experience scares the crap out of me.. do you have any advice or recommendations? I don't track or drag race, I just want a solid street cam to have some fun with. I'm just fbo right now, tuned myself with hp tuners. Your videos have been extremely helpful and entertaining by the way, thanks for all the effort.
You could should pull either ecm fuse to kill spark or fuel pump or both and spin the engine over full of kerosene Just remember to do the same for a bit to re prime the oil passageways with oil
Everywhere you can from top to bottom. I mainly poured down the heads with the valve covers off, down the center of the motor with the valley cover off and down the front of the motor with the timing cover off
My mustang 3v just did this and the shop just threw a new cam and followers in and said im good. Kinda worried cuz the oil pressure gauge is a dummy one and i just had to take it back becauze the vct was acting up which can be caused from low oil pressure They said its an alternator..
@@Blown6.2 I'm really not sure, I got a different opinion from every single person I talked to. Seeing the lifters were fine eliminated that possibility. Your magnetic oil plug will not attract aluminum shavings. It's been a year, please tell us if this engine survived the trauma which caused the metal shavings.
@@psiturbo nope still Stock Bottom End! Never rebuilt, just a crappy soft cam metal. Luckily we caught it before it did any damage. Car is still running great to this day
I tried to hit ya guys with a quicker faster paced vid this week. Lemme know how you like it 🤘
Thanks - Can I just pour kero directly into the oil refill ?
@@dimensionexo. you can yes but you'll miss the other side of the head

Magnetic oil plug, no idea why manufacturers don't make this standard on most cars. Prevents a lot of shavings from circulating.
Teehee we don't want it lasting too long now teheee would t won't you driving around not looking fresh teehee teheeeee
Thanks, I was hoping you'd follow up after pulling the cam out. Good video

Wow idk how I missed this one with the bell 🤦🏽♂️ great vid man
TH-cam Algorithm sucks lol Thanks!
is it as effective if kerosene is just poured into the engine block without removing the crankcase cover?
It would work best with the most covers removed so probably not as effective
Great vid ! How many miles on the engine when you did this ?
@@DELTRANIO99 thank you! Approximately 90k miles
Did you run the car with the Kerosene in it or did you just let it set ?
Just poured it down into the engine to flush any loose particles into the pan.

What does magnetic drain plug do if the pieces are aluminum
Lol 🤣 lifter and cam material aren't aluminum!

Ugh, I would get a legit oil pressure gauge so you know where its currently at. Best of luck for ya
How u clean the kerosene out of engine
So what was causing the metal shavings my Cadillac Escalade ext with 200k miles have metal shavings whenever I change the oil please reply back
I talked to a few people but we believe it was from a defective cam (or soft metal core) beings that it was chunks of metal and not shavings.
How did the lifters look when you took em out? Any damaged?
I was waiting to see em all beat up but they were actually fine. No damage at all. Rollers were perfect, spun fine, none were collapsed
@@The1st60ft wow, that's really odd, just curious cause I have the same cam in my car, any other theory's on how that coulda happened?

There are alot of metallic parts inside the engine including bearings and lifter material. Check the recent uploads, still running good!
