Prefer the flat iron side! My hair dresser taught me how to curl my hair with a flat iron (which I call a straightner, btw :)) and I've been doing it that way for years now, and love the result. Honestly, once you broke up the curls, the two sides were super similar. So this reinforced my decision not to invest in a curling wand :)

Both sides are beautiful! I love curly hair. Never could get used to the straight look. Curling iron since I was a teen. Love the straightener side. I’ve used hot tools forever. Straightener is harder for me due to lack of practice. But hey, I still like to do my hair and I’m 54!!
I use all of the different tools. But truthfully the curling iron is just easiest. I find it really hard to manage the flat iron on my “ tough side to curl” and in the back with my shorter bob it’s easier too. Thanks for your help trying to manage my stubborn fine hair

My hair is about the same length as yours currently-the longest it’s been in about 10 years! So just like you, I’m discovering new ways to style it because I’ve had short hair for so long and worn it down for so long. About a month ago, I started using sea salt spray while blow drying, a tip I learned from your channel, and I love the volume and smoothness it gives my hair!

Now that I've watched your technique for curling hair with a flat iron, I'm anxious to give it another go. You made it look easy. I think part of the problem was not turning the temp up high enough. I do ok with a wand but the final result is often not to my satisfaction with most of the curl being at the bottom with little curl or lift at the top. I also think I've been taking too large a chunk of hair as well as the temp being too low. Edit: I like the flat iron side better.

I find myself using the flat iron more currently but I am trying to learn the wand.
I thought for sure I would like the curling wand curls better, but when you separated the curls, I like the flat iron curls better! Do you use hairspray to hold the curls longer and do you have to touch up curls everyday or just let alone until you wash your hair? I'm like the only person I know that has bought a straightener so have the versatility of a straightening n curling my hair. My hairdresser suggested a straightener over a wand. I tried straightening my hairs years ago with an old straightener and it made my hair sooooo dry and frizzy. I'm such a newbie to hairstyling!
The opposite of aging is death so rock your age no matter the number. Thin fine gray hair & best thing for my hair is all natural products & a great cut. Heat on gray can cause discoloration.

Left! I have a wand, the le duo, a flat iron and the le perle. The le perle is the only one that puts a lasting curl in my hair. My hair is fine and thin. I keep experimenting but usually pretty disappointed with my results.
I like the wand side. I’m growing my hair out. It seems to just get bushy, without even trying to curl it. My granddaughter is coming to stay with me in a few weeks. And she’s going to show me how to use the flat iron. She’s been using one for years. I need all the help I can get. I have had very short pixie cut hair for the last thirty years. So it’s going to be interesting. If I can’t handle doing it myself, I know my hair looks good short also.
I like using the Duo from L’ange because it does the work for me however I’m a bit interested in investing on the curling wand but my hair is shorter than yours but I really like the curl it gives real funky like it a lot.

I typically use a curling iron rather than a flat iron. My hair does better with the curling iron. My hair is probably a smidge longer than yours right now. I agree, it’s a balance of more product versus too much product that determines how your hair holds the curl!
I figured out curling my super long hair with a flat iron. My hair is so frizzy curly so if I use a regular curling iron the roots are frizzy... I needed to straighten the roots and curl at the same time. My hair is short now and I don't like the flat iron curls... I'm trying to figure out the wand.
I use both, but my wand is coned... but my hair never gets the end look - you know..the effortless beach wave curl... I also have fine Swedish hair. It is a lot harder to get all good products here, good for me that U.S opening up for travel again. Love your channel and vids.. You have a ton of hair! I gave very fine very thin hair. It is hard to curl my fragile hair and find products that don't add dryness. Lange has typically dried out my hair.
Hi from the UK Jocelyn 😊 I find it so difficult using a hair straightener to curl my hair. So I use a mixture of 2 tools. My hair is the exact same cut and length as yours. I use a 25mm curling wand and a 3 barrel 25mm curl waver. I alternate layers with each tool, the bottom and top layers always being the curling wand. It gives such a different look 😊 My only issue is that my hair drops its curl very quickly after just a few hours 😞 even when I use a hairspray on each layer. If you could kindly offer any advice on my hair holding it's curl, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks x

I just purchased the flat iron (the one I have been using is ceramic plated and not that great anyways) and the products you mentioned to give it a shot and see if it works for me. My question is in the video is your hair already flat ironed or is your hair naturally that straight? Also if it is already flat ironed that are you doing this a few days later or same day? I am just wondering if the the flat iron is strong enough to curl hair that has already been set straight.

Hey Jocelyn love your content and think longer hair suits you. I've just discovered a different hair curler in the UK (got it on Amazon). It's cordless and you literally place a strand of hair in it, it sucks it up and voilà you have a perfect curl. Practice makes perfect though 😁

Yeah use hairspray and it just depends on your hair type if you have to curl it everyday I’d say after 2 days you’d have to redo it tho
25.4 mm = 1 inch. Her curling iron is almost 1 inch at 25 mm. Hope this helps someone.

I use a self wrapping hair wand, because I have arthritis in my hands.
Still not sure how to curl with a flat iron will keep practicing x
