Any new endeavor can be overwhelming because learning the "language", and "terminology" is terrifying. Acquiring "tools" to help you learn is so important. I am like Christy. I just immerse myself in the subject through reading different books so I can "get a handle on the subject matter" but then it requires a "leap of faith" to where the knowledge acquired must involve a "hands on approach". Otherwise it is just an intellectual exercise that has no practical purpose.
You guys do a great job with capturing good audio in the studio (which is not easy!) But the post the final mix loudness is a bit low compared with everything else on TH-cam. Are you using a tool to confirm the final loudness of the mix in LUFS (aka LKFS)? Looks like you could go 6dB or so louder without risking getting "turned down" by TH-cam's automatic audio system. Thanks for the great content and all the hard work that goes into delivering high quality!
@@TakingOff Dan - love the channel and content. Know you are open to constructive... observation... Not a "sound" guy - but the intro, outro/extro sound is very loud (6db??) compared to other channels I watch , like Blancoliro or Martin Pauley. When I start to watch your channel - I'm blown away in my headphones and have to quickly turn the sound down, and then turn it back up AND then down at the end. Anyway you can address that? Unless I am the only one with this observation. Cheers - John
No I messed it up. I record these “live to tape” and then go back in post to add Broll. For this season, we ended up fixing something in the opening which changed the length which means I have to redrop in the music, and I simply forgot to bring it down.
My flight school uses King Schools online for the ground school. I used King Schools online for both my private and instrument training. I never heard of Gold Seal until I started watching Taking Off videos.
@@JustPlaneSilly at least you weren’t releasing 5 post-Osh videos a day for a month… I’m still catching up on those… I was happy to get down to 60 videos to watch later… the problem is most of those videos are 30 minutes to an hour in length… I took time off of plane building to get a few more in. Back at it tomorrow!
I'm thinking of flying on a FAA 61.75 licence when I come to the states next year. Obviously I want to learn the differences in rules/procedures, is there any features inside gold seal training to help someone who's used to 95% of the rules in terms of ICAO and just wants to get the US specifics?
@@TakingOff the name just clicked with me and thought of it as you two have similar mannerisms. Clay is also a really great guy. One of the most genuine guys in drag racing. Great content, love Goldseal.
Guys, I really love the show, but you really REALLY need to get the volume leveling worked out. The music is WAAAAY louder than the speech.
Roger THAT :-)
Looks like a really good course. I used Sporty's and found it excellent as well.
@@JustPlaneSilly And likewise! I'm surprised they didn't interview you about your advanced "Bryan-Seal" guaranteed ground school! :)

Great episode Dan and Christy, thank you. 🤘🇺🇸🛩️

Usually I set it to the meter but will pop it up another 6db.

Hi, Jim. Well, better late than never. You might be surprised to learn that Gold Seal has been online for longer than King by several years.
@@GoldSealFlight I'll keep you in mind if I decide to go for my commercial rating. 🛩
Two videos in a day? Dan... I do have to work for a living you know?... *sigh*... I'll definitely watch later. :D

I still remember the steezy video
“No you do not need ground school. I will teach you all that for 75 bucks an hour” - some Cfi probably
Hey dan are you related to Clay Millican that drives Top Fuel?
Not that I know of.
