    Lovely short video with perfect amount of detail. Hoping to get one of these under stairs in my new build shortly!

    I have an all-electric house and AIO with an EV but no solar unfortunately. Currently my storage heating/hot water is fed via a separate switched CU from the 5th meter port. The Tesla charger(with PEN fault breaker) is currently fed from the main 24H CU (not the AIO as I already had that prior to getting the AIO) Would I gain anything by shifting the EV charger over to the Gateway (quite a tricky job due lack of access) I've read about problems if I shift to Octopus Intelligent causing the car charger to drain the battery during EV extra slots.

    • @Evorenewables
      @Evorenewables  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The only thing you would gain is seeing it on the Givenery App otherwise there’s no real need to do it. You can set the battery to do both discharge between certain times to prevent scheduling EV charging from drawing the battery, however I don’t think you can get it to not charge if it’s on Octopus Intelligent….. might be a question for the Givenergy tech support.

    You mentioned the EV charger can be wired into the Gateway. Does it have to be GivEnergy’s own charger, or can you wire in, say, an existing Zappi or similar?

    • @Evorenewables
      @Evorenewables  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It can be any 3rd party EV point. The reason behind doing it is just so that it shows up on the Givenergy monitoring.

      @@Evorenewables thanks - that's what I originally thought but my installer told me it had to be the GivEnergy charger which didn't sound right to me, so I'll go back to them...

    • @Evorenewables
      @Evorenewables  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It can be any, however one of the objections to do this is the installer may have to use al alternate branded MCB to what Givenergy have supplied and many installers don’t like to mix and match brands which is why in the end we opted not to add it to the gateway.

      @@Evorenewables ahhhh ok, I see your point, yeah I can understand why you might not want that to happen. Thanks very much

    One thing I've not understood with this, hopefully someone can help pls.
    The Givenergy 'All in one' is a battery with inverter in the same box.
    The Gateway is a separate box to which solar panels are connected.
    So do the solar panels still need a solar inverter to conver to AC to plug into this gateway. Or is the gateway capable of taking the DC straight from the solar panels ?
    I.e. Is a separate solar inverter still required with a system like this, or is the All in One and Gateway all that is needed ? It would surely make sense to be able to use DC from solar panels to charge the battery without the solar input being converted to AC then back to DC again.

      Hi Chris,
      Great question!
      The All In One is an AC coupled battery system so still requires the Solar Pv to have a standard string inverter. There’s Pro’s and Con’s for having an Ac coupled system or a DC coupled system however the all in ones main advanced Is the whole home back up in the event of a power cut due to the gateway.
      The All In One is a fantastic system but in my opinion the name is wrong as it’s actually not all in one.

      @@EvorenewablesMany thanks for this explanation.
      I think I agree, the name 'All in One' is a bit confusing.
      When they finally do add DC inputs to the battery, they'll have to call that something else ... 'Even more in One' maybe ; )
      But yes, it seems like a good system, cheaper than Powerwall3, and already available here in the UK.
      Thanks for sharing all this information/experience.

      The story I heard was that it was due to be called the Givenergy Liberty. Inside the gateway it’s also labelled up as Liberty connections however MyEnergi brought out the Libbi before Givenergy so the name was changed to AIO. Might just be a rumour but that’s what we’ve heard.
      The AIO in my opinion is just as good as a Powerwall and for a great price

      @@Evorenewables Notified them after my first install too, realised they were time delayed aswell, they said you can swap them but keen on mixing the brand with what they'd supplied.

    • @Evorenewables
      @Evorenewables  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For me it would be good if you could buy a range of breakers from them as even putting the EV into the gateway you need to supply your own breaker would be nice if you could customise but overall a good system

      @@seancotterell14 that’s really good to know. In all honestly I’m hard pressed to find a retro fit battery storage solution that does everything the AIO does for the money it costs. It’s a fantastic bit of kit, with a great price tag.
