I'm planning to buy 4Runner from Oregon and bring it to California.. What's the process? I will get a temporary registration, and California won't do smog and safety tests on out of state temporary registration. I'm in Delima.
Hi Sir, My car registration( registered in texas) expired 4 months back, and now I wanna register the car in California?could you give me instructions, please
Cars do not need to be weighed. The DMV or your registration service has all the documents you need, they fill out the vin verification, you fill out the app for title, but it’s only 1 page and super easy. Fill it out while you wait.
Great information! I just bought Porsche Cayenne that'll be shipped to CA soon. Do SUVs require weight certificates? Also , should I contact my insurance company ahead of getting the vehicle? Thank you.
SUV’s do not require weight cert. only trucks. Typically insurance has a 30 day grace period to add your vehicle. But, better safe then sorry, you should add it asap.
This is the clearest instruction I've seen on this topic. Do you know any additional steps for purchasing a NEW vehicle out of sate? Also you did not mention taxes in this video, how does that work exactly?
If purchasing from a dealer, new or used vehicle, the dealer will do all the paperwork, registration, and collect the tax. You don’t need to do anything. If purchasing private party, your local DMV or registration spot will collect the tax. You don’t have to worry about tax, the govt will make sure you pay them lol
Upcoming new vehicle purchase from a dealer in OR registering in CA. That dealer is not charging me any fees or reg and is not reg’ing it in CA. You can go to dmv.ca.gov and calculate what the taxes and fees will be (yes, pay CA sales tax on an OR purchased new vehicle).
I’m looking into buying a car that was transferred over from NJ (private seller) and was wondering what I would need to do to register it here in California or if I would just need the NJ title and smog then head over to the dmv to get it registered and everything
