Dreams hasn't impressed me yet. And yes, I know the game came out last year for creators and just recently had it's full release, and it takes time to make content. But that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the TYPES of content being created and promoted. 90% of what I'm seeing is just Mario, Zelda, Avatar, Sonic, and many other unoriginal content. Dreams can really shine when creators start pumping out original stuff. Why would I want to play a level as/with Mario when there are dozens of games for that already? I want something new and different. I just don't understand the point of creating content out of things you can get elsewhere.

I think the only real substantial way they could go after something is if an Avatar game was making profit. usually those kind of patents and deals to own something say that someone else can't sell it for profit. this should probably be ok since it's just making a game in a game and not being sold
They can't make a lawsuit, since no copyright infringement is being made as no profits will be made from this game. It's like getting a copyright claim for uploading a clip from the show on a demonitized channel
@@parijatsingh5858 I'm not sure that's true. Uploading pirated intellectual property is illegal whether you make money off of it or not. Most people uploading to illegal websites are not getting anything out of doing it, but it is obviously still illegal. The question is if this goes under the "fair use" clause. If it does, no worries. But as it is not a parody or really trying to say anything about the show, it probably does not.
Actually though, and why double the risk building this inside of a medium where you can't easily back it up if Nick/Viacom just does a blind sweep and takes down any copyright infringing content on Dreams as a whole? I'm a huge fan of Avatar, and also FORMERLY an avid nintendo-game modder. This has so many red flags it hurts.
I feel like the devs of Dreams aren't getting enough praise for their game. Just think about how well designed and fine-tuned Dreams is where someone without any game developing experience can create a standalone game people have been dreaming about (pun intended) for years and years? Congrats to Elca but don't forget why this Avatar game is possible in the first place, give some love to the Dreams devs.
Media Molecule made an extremely ambitious game with easy to understand controls that anyone can get use to. Also the idea of taking other people's stuff and using it for your own dreams is a great addition.
I would LOVE a full-scale, assassin's creed style, open-world avatar game. A game where you could pick or even take a test to be placed in one of the nations as a random bender. I dont even necessarily want to be the avatar (though it would be awesome for that to be an option). I want to immerse myself in the avatar world.
I'd prefer it if it was more like GOW4 than totally open world though. Where there is a story that you can enjoy, but you can also choose to leave the story for a bit and just explore. (And with new parts of the story, there come extra places to explore)
Itd be cool if after beating the game you can go on to other nations and after you master each element as a different character you get to experience being the avatar too
Man, I remember when Elca just started this and posted it to the subreddit as a little project he was working on last year. I can’t believe what it’s grown to become but I’m so glad it has. He deserves all this recognition.
gaming started purely as a money making business... you think kids played at the arcade for free? Ataris and NES were expensive as hell - the games too. I admire the respect for passionate developers, but don't fool yourself - video games at least when they started were almost explicitly about making buckaroos
I mean yes and no. There were so many systems in the 80s for profit and even later on. I mean Sony was originally a home entertainment system company (still are technically), Microsoft was PCs. At the same time passion projects have always existed from Sakaguchi's last game being his first of many with Final Fantasy to the Moldenhaur brothers mortgaging their homes for Cuphead.
I'd rather the series die with the dignity and acclaim it has currently than go on to spiral into awfulness. I'm not saying I distrust Nickelodeon's skills in making great animation, but... I'm saying I distrust their skills in making a great animation.

How they have not made an RPG, using this universe, where you can create your own Avatar, baffles me. The story has an immense time gap between the 1rst Avatar, and Korra, that would be beyond exploitable. The whole point of the story is how the protagonist travels, trains, and learns new techniques, the skill tree is literally part of the story line!!! The only thing needed is a main antagonist, because side quests are also, already part of the story of any avatar, and as the original source material shows, tyrants and evil benders can come from any nation.
Oh, i would love it if doing side quest would have an influence on the world and the avatar, just like in the show. It felt like every single episode taught someone a lesson an helped them grow, for me it never felt like filler episodes and i loved that.
except there isn't THAT much of a gap between avatar and korra... the time between aang's death and korra's birth is probably only a few years or so at most... there is no way in hell you can explain a random avatar popping up between the two.
A game based on Iroh's life would be incredible as well imo - he had such an amazing character arc, going through all that from his POV would have been interesting as well and eventually passing the torch down to Zuko
guys imagine an assassins creed type open world map of the avatar world. Detailed, beautiful landscape of all 4 nations and the game would be about doing missions and learning elements on your way towards the end of the game. meeting avatar characters, learning combat from masters, being able to fly appa and have momo on your shoulder as a companion
I WAS JUST ABOUT TO COMMENT THIS!! The quest system, open world, animations, map, that would be awesome! It would be awesome if there was a story mode/campaign mode for playing as Aang and the original story, and a custom mode where you design your own avatar and create your own destiny.

This person's work is living proof that people with creativity can make amazing work even without proper coding knowledge or artistic experience, if given the right tools to make......
While true you still need to have College if your expecting to land a permanent job. Otherwise you will get a seasonal contract as those with a degree get the priority pick
I admire his effort and passion. But this is not entirely true. Since the ‘right tool’ requires real professionals to do the coding in the first place. And his lack of artistic experience is filled by the very creative team of Avatar that designed everything prior to his work.
Its nice that someone has gotten hired from Dreams already, I wouldnt mind others as well (as long as they get picked up by one of the passionate companies and not something known to have rushed products)
TJP projects Yeah, Dreams is less complicated than learning code or visual scripting. Maybe they’d be willing to give him on the job training but that’s very rare from what I know.

I would totally hire this guy His game's on a limited platform and graphics aren't really that great, it doesn't even look like the controls are all that amazing Still, what he accomplished with sheer willpower and no background knowledge just out of passion is amazing and it's already getting traction, not just because of an unsatisfied audience but because he managed to capture what they wanted and on top of that he's very humble and isn't doing it for personal gain If I had something to do with Nickelodeon, i'd wire him up with avatar creators and back-up his project along with some rough guidance on game development. Suggest a change of engine and sell the game for profits for both parties But we all know big companies are just too greedy or don't have the proper eyes to look at this stuff "hurr durr, he's doing stuff with our stuff, we're not using it but we could!, no one does this without our permission, cancel everything and don't do a game on this for another 20 years, when we do, we wanna go full 'games as a service' mode to make the most profits" -every big company ever

Demonism Toby Fox did the same thing and within the same span, Scott Cawthon released 8 complete video games. Yandere Simulator is nowhere near as big. He has no excuse.
Nothing makes me more emotional than Avatar does. I literally cry whenever I watch any episode. I’ve been DYING for a game like this since Avatar first came out. Whatever it turns into, I’m very proud of Elca, and am excited to see what the end result will be!

I’m in the middle of rewatching the series (thanks to corona time) and words cannot describe the emotional attachment I have to the show... it’s just... the animation, the action, the storyline, the soundtrack, the characters, everything is so perfect and thought out I doubt I’ll ever find an animated show/anime that lives up to how amazing the avatar series truly is. Every single episode makes me emotional in one way or another. And ohmygosh how pumped I am to hopefully be able to play the game one day. literally a *dream* come true 😂
It'd probably be best to thank the creators first. After all, it is them who created this magnificent engine in which almost everything is possible as far as hardware allows it.
Elca did a great job at creating the mechanics and general gameplay, Michael and Bryan did a great job creating the characters, universe and story, and Dreams did a great job creating all the technical tools and making them this accessible. Each one did a part, one could argue that some more than others, but there's really no way to fully measure it, and the project wouldn't exist if only one of those parts hadn't done a great job.

@@Gaberror404 not always but that's usually how many copyright deals are for them to have legitimate lawsuits. music is typically different, and people copyright songs and things to not be used on people's videos without consent. but these kind of deals usually have to do with making profit and selling it. this might be ok to not be hit with a lawsuit
Didn’t they make the game he can even make this in without any experience, make a awards they send to people in the mail to show appreciation, stream people’s creations many times a week, make tutorials that people use to make their creations in the first place, etc?

there will most likely be enough of an uproar that they keep them around, or possibly make a PC port as I hope. Normally Sony would just say no to that but Microsoft is pressuring them to be on the PC as well, most we can hope for is that at some point it DOES come to PC.

I love the fact that dreams for playstation and fancade for android/ios are very unique concepts and allows common people to show their creativity and productivity in the game. development field
Fluffy Destroyer fancade is like a inferior dreams , you can make your own games with the tools the game gives to you , you can't do 3D modelling but you can do pixel art so is more retro-oriented , is still in beta as far as i remember so bad optimization and lag are problems , but i think is newer smartphones it works well

Still, what he accomplished with sheer willpower and no background knowledge just out of passion is amazing and it's already getting traction, not just because of an unsatisfied audience but because he managed to capture what they wanted and on top of that he's very humble and isn't doing it for personal gain
If I had something to do with Nickelodeon, i'd wire him up with avatar creators and back-up his project along with some rough guidance on game development. Suggest a change of engine and sell the game for profits for both parties

Nothing makes me more emotional than Avatar does. I literally cry whenever I watch any episode. I’ve been DYING for a game like this since Avatar first came out. Whatever it turns into, I’m very proud of Elca, and am excited to see what the end result will be!

Every single episode makes me emotional in one way or another. And ohmygosh how pumped I am to hopefully be able to play the game one day. literally a *dream* come true 😂

Elca did a great job at creating the mechanics and general gameplay, Michael and Bryan did a great job creating the characters, universe and story, and Dreams did a great job creating all the technical tools and making them this accessible. Each one did a part, one could argue that some more than others, but there's really no way to fully measure it, and the project wouldn't exist if only one of those parts hadn't done a great job.

Fluffy Destroyer fancade is like a inferior dreams , you can make your own games with the tools the game gives to you , you can't do 3D modelling but you can do pixel art so is more retro-oriented , is still in beta as far as i remember so bad optimization and lag are problems , but i think is newer smartphones it works well
