Good to see quality gear at the more affordable price point, im sure it will be apreciated by all but especially new and younger incomers. Good job Lamson.
Thanks Ben, I don’t have a new one yet but will comment on the old ones to help with comparison. Even though I have a couple liquids, I often sprung for the Remix because of the nicer drag knob - now this new one has a drag knob more similar to the Remix and that alone will make it better. One caution about Lamson, they always use a shorter reel foot than other brands, so there are a few fly rods out there that you can’t tighten the reel seat nut far enough to keep the reel tight (you run out of threads). I wish their reel foot was a little longer. Also, my preference is to always go for a little more weight to balance out the swing weight of a 9’ rod - for a 9 ft 5 weight, many will be happier with the 7+ size, has more space for backing but so much better balance during casting and fishing - that’s because for years the fly reels keep getting so light, some will chose to compensate for that.
Good morning and Happy New Year Trident. Nice review on the new Lamson. I’ll be in the market for a new 5 weight reel and this will help in my final choice. Cheers!
The conical drag, do you know if it use stainless components? The effort at waterproofing the drag and escapement system is appreciated, but items that are waterproof eventually leak (holding up my hand as my formerly waterproof roof just started leaking).

I just got this reel and I couldn’t be happier. The next reel I liked that was comparable was over $400

Been very happy with my 5+ and fish it more than my Hardy Ultra 4000
Love the look of the Lamson and great price point. Thanks for the review 👍

Would you recommend this reel over the Orvis Battenkill Disc Drag? Im looking for my first fly reel.
The old Guru HD is and was the reel to get.

I'm interested in the liquid s max!
Looks like a win. The Liquid itself has been great, at least for me.
Is the break knob still in plastic ?
Love the previous generation better.
If you needle the right clutch for your flyreel, contact me.
Goofy hat.
