    I love the way you decorated it to make your dorm room more cozy!

    20 years later and they are still using the same furniture. That looks like the medical Dorms that are over by the Airmen post office not the main post office by the BX.

    I was stationed at Travis from 1981-85 and lived in the dorms in the 1300 area and I hated it ! They were filthy buildings and the noise from all the partying going on was so irritating. I worked in the Field Maintenance Squadron, flight line work. The living conditions forced me to not re-enlist after my hitch. The base has been transformed. When I was stationed there, there were about 17,000 airmen/civilian assigned to the base and we had two to a room.

      I was also stationed at Travis from 1981-85 in the Field Maintenance Squadron. Worked as a Jet Engine Mechanic in the TF-33 (C-141 Jet Shop). Finished my degree at Golden Gate and commissioned as a 2LT and retired in 2015 as the Maintenance Group Commander at Homestead, FL. Still working in Aircraft Maintenance at Eglin AFB., FL. Ready to retire again. Small World.

    What?! Room and bathroom to self now? I heard you can’t even get yelled at in basic training now. I was in the 1300 area, but was in the building that was torn down. I remember hanging at the Pit. Fun times….

    When I stayed at the Navy BEQ At the N.A.S ALAMEDA late 80s early 90s you're room look totally Different than the ones that are in your video

    @adrianaraffa597 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    I notice on a lot of these dorm tour videos most people have roommates, how'd you manage to snag a room for yourself?

    • @daniellepainter2629
      @daniellepainter2629  5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      When you get to phase 2 (If your afsc has one) usually you just share a bathroom with a suitemate, it’s during phase 1 of tech School training when you have to share

      Airforce doesn't allow roommates, they also get Breakast, Lunch and Dinner delivered to their rooms.

    I lived in those medical dorms eons ago, looks like the same furniture lol. Is the pit still there?

    • @Graymalkyn
      @Graymalkyn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately they got rid of the snake pit. I remember back in the 80’s all the fights maintenance used to have with aircrew, that shit used to be hilarious. They totally redid the 1300 area.

    Cardiopulmonary is the only job I want, should I join the air force considering the army can guarantee cardiovascular specialist?

    • @daniellepainter2629
      @daniellepainter2629  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It depends on the lifestyle that you want to live. I believe on the army side, they split up cardiovascular and pulmonary into two different career fields whereas in AF we do both. If it were me, I'd recommend going AF first and seeing your chances. In order to be Cardiopulmonary they accept you into the career before bootcamp.

    I want to take this job . How long is the tech Shcool? Coz on web site it said 233 days but ppl saying it’s really longest training. Is it really hard? Would really appreciate ur response

    • @daniellepainter2629
      @daniellepainter2629  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is one of the longest tech trainings they offer, 233 days sounds about right! It is really hard, you'll have a lot of long study days but in the end it's worth it.

    • @daniellepainter2629
      @daniellepainter2629  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The gym is nice, is a decent size, and has good equipment. I wish I had taken a video of it but a lot of it was under construction while I was there.

      Good luck! For permanent party members they don’t split them up by afsc, hopefully you get out into the new dorms
