It’s funny. I went to Keesler for tech school about 30 years ago, and you described it pretty much exactly how it was even back then. I remember the different “ropes” and the different phases etc. Fun times.

Basically the same for Fort Sam Houston. Just a tech school for medical AFSCs and that it is a joint base. Which had Army and Navy. Some AFSCs are 1 phase, others like Radiology has like 2 but their second phase they go to another base to complete tech school.

Start the process early.
Between scheduling a meeting with the recruiter, gathering documents needed, scheduling MEPs, and actually getting a job and leaving can take 6-8 months.
Start while your still in school.

Holy Moly! It sounds like an extension of recruit training! Once we graduated recruit training and went to our school, there wete some rules, but nothing like curfews, what you could wrar, etc. I guess they figured, since you're a Marine, you'll take care of business first.

@@nicolep.9440 It's in a small town, Wichita Falls, Tx. There's not much to do other than taking the bus to the mall or partying at the enlisted club. Things may have changed a lot since then but I did enjoy my 6 months there. I did have really cool classmates though.
I was at Sheppard for Teletype Crytpo School Jan 3, 1987 - June 1, 1987. Five of the most insane months of fun I ever had. I was in the 3775th "Country Club". Just off the bus, we were told "Welcome to the Country Club". I was already relaxed at the time but during Squardon Check in I stepped back to give Lt Hetchlor some room, Hetchlor looked at me and said, "Relax Airman Bernhardt, this isn't Bootcamp". At that point my hair went all the way through the floor and the games began. You ever seen Robert Altman's 1970 MASH?? That's pretty much what those 5 months were like. I wound up stationed at Vandenberg. So Brittany, so you took an Intelligence job. I bet it's fun. I suppose you wound up with at least a Secret Clearance. And that process is fun. I remember it like it was yesterday. OPSEC, another term I haven't heard in a while. SALUTES!!!

Still in tech for now but this video is pretty accurate and IP week sucked for me it was death by briefings. At least we got our phones once we were back in the dorms off duty. When I first got here I was so dazed and confused by everything and I didn't know how to act. They changed the reporting statement and made me wear blues all that first week. Tech is leaps and bounds better and gives way more freedoms but you still gotta keep that discipline that they taught you in basic because all though the MTLs are nicer and are there to help they still aren't there to be your friend or to let you slack off.

I have watched all your videos and could not wait for this !!! You have been so helpful to me, I am joining 4 years active duty soon I only have 22lbs to loose 😁😁 I’m scared but sooo much more excited !! I have been wondering is it possible to be a vegetarian ? I have been for years and I have gotten such mixed responses. Like in Bmt too
It’s possible in BMT but it’s probably not easy. There are limited vegetarian options but you could probably make it work!

Sometimes with our squadron, sometimes self PT. Just depends on the assignment. Yes you have plenty of time to go to the gym during tech school.

Next month on the 22nd will mark 10 years in the USAF for me! this brings back so many memories!! Lol congratulations on graduating bmt! Yes I'm on a random military videos binge!
If there's one tip I could give you Contribute to TSP put in 10%-20% and Immediately get out of the default setting that is the G fund. Do your research, but I personally like the lifecycle funds. Especially if you're 18 and planning on making the USAF a career of 20 years. You'll thank me later ;)
If I went through with enlisting the first time I would’ve been in 10 years right now but, here we are! Lol
Brittany Willis hey, better late than never. I was 19 when I joined. I tried joining the Marines at 17 but the mother said no lol at 18 I tried college and said nope by 19 I came back and wanted to join the USAF lol. How long until you graduate tech school?

Is your family able to bring you a suitcase of clothes during bmt graduation for tech school?
Yes but I wouldn’t recommend it
Brittany Willis why? How did you or others get your belongings after bmt?
We weren’t allowed to wear civilian clothes for the first 30 days and there’s already so much to carry to tech school - whatever civilian luggage you bring to BMT, the backpack they issue you, duffel bag with all uniforms. My mom mailed me a box after I got there.
I don’t know if you have already mentioned this in other videos. But what was your job in USAF? Did you choose it?
Are you guys allowed to leave base at all during phase 1 &2? If not can family members visit you guys in base?
We weren’t allowed to leave base during phase 1 and I’m not sure about visitors during that time, but every tech school is different.
How often can family members visit?
I've been wondering if you're content with you're decision to join the military. I'm deeply considering going but the only thing keeping me second guessing the military is that I'll be making MUCH less money than I am currently. Is an experience like the military worth a contract for less pay?
I am content and I gave up a decent salary to join. I make a lot less money but I’m the kind of person who needs to do purposeful work to feel fulfilled and that’s what I’m doing now.

If they decide they need your medical records, like they did with me, you have to go to every single medical facility you've been to in the past five years. I didn't have to pay for requesting my records but that could always be different for your town
