  • Mom and daughter walk from Astorga to Foncebedon along the Camino de Santiago. They leave the Meseta (plains) behind and head into the mountains on a day with many weather changes.

      We ended up getting two kittens - a brother and sister. We made a video about it and you can meet them if you watch it.

      If so, probably me too, but not on Fridays.

    Glad Molly is getting a cat!! I hope we get a picture of Mollys new cat. I laughed when I saw her try to pet that calico. Calicos are the divas of the cat world , Molly - to be admired and not touched.

      Yes, the cat count was fun. I can't remember now how we decided to count cats, but it made some days fun that might have otherwise been less exciting.

    1:34 First, Happy New Year, Blessed upcoming Epiphany
    Second, to answer the question, part of the task of the templars was protecting pilgrims.
    I am somewhat apprehensive of Templars now and then singling out someone needing _their_ initiations to get along in life - not you, you clearly already have a life.
    But the reason why my life has been in kind of a standstill since 2004 may be that I am tugging in one direction about it, and Templars (yes, there are people today claiming that "order") tugging in another, with superior resources. I basically avoided Templar sites, with the one exception of Ponferrada, where I was in a Templar held pilgrims' hostel, St. Nicolas of Flühe.

  • @hglundahl
    @hglundahl ปีที่แล้ว +1

    8:21 "still" would not be correct - more like some people reconstituted themselves as a Templar revival.
    And yes, in Ponferrada, not very far ahead, you have them.

    11:14 I am a bit confused about one thing.
    The memory I have of the journey from Astorga to Rabanal (where I stayed) is, I was going uphill - it doesn't quite seem like that on the video, though ...

    • @hglundahl
      @hglundahl ปีที่แล้ว

      11:22 Ah, now it looks like Santa Catalina and Rabanal as I recall the uphill walk!

    • @staceyandmollypilgrims
      @staceyandmollypilgrims  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It probably was a gentle uphill.

    • @staceyandmollypilgrims

      @@staceyandmollypilgrims In Rabanal and Santa Catalina, I recall a strong uphill ... is my memory that wrong?

    • @staceyandmollypilgrims
      @staceyandmollypilgrims  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hglundahl I don't remember a steep uphill in Santa Catalina, but I do in Rabanal. I could be wrong, because we were floating all day that day, and the hills didn't seem very hard - even the steep ones.

    Hi Stacey, noticed you are wearing a very minimal day pack, was this successful for your purpose?
    I am wondering if it is too unstable with no chest strap etc.?
    The walk into Foncebadon certainly seems an ideal day. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺

    • @staceyandmollypilgrims
      @staceyandmollypilgrims  ปีที่แล้ว

      In reality, I didn't plan to walk using that small pack, and it wasn't ideal. One of the straps even broke at one point and I had to fix it temporarily - making it even more uncomfortable. Next time, if there is a chance that I'll use a day pack, I'll bring something a little more substantial. Yes, the walk into Foncebedon was one of our favorite days. The walk into O'Cebreiro might be even better.
