Love it...Thank you...Every Sunday night I watch all the 80's nostalgia commercials. I love this one with Alpha Beta....I always use to shop at Alpha Beta. There was one down the street from us...Just makes me almost wanna cry when I see these commercials..Really good times...early - mid 80's..
Thanks for another Great year of nostalgic shares. Really appreciate the date and affiliate info within every description. Closest we'll ever get to time travel.
"Happy New Year, Everyone! Except Moose and Squirrel!" The old Bullwinkle cartoons are classics to the 10th power, so ridiculously funny! We sure loved pickup trucks in the 80's, and WOW I totally forgot about "Intermission!"
Does anyone remember that "chair commercial" where the oldies were bragging about their free gifts? I have no idea which company it was....but the lady was like "I got the Panasonic color tv" and there was a crazy lookin' old guy saying "I got the VCR!" And then a really, really bad actress was like "I GOT THE MICROWAVE!!!" The host called the co. and asked for the chair to be mailed to him or something, i forget, but I'll never forget the operator saying "CERTAINLY SIR!!!" with a big ass smile on her face like she just took one in the ass. I have had that commercial etched in my brain since childhood and can't seem to find it anywhere. It's not all that important, I just wanted to see it for a good old nostalgic laugh. Thanks!
+Aaron the Atheist I remember that, too, and that's what I'm searching for right now. I want to see that crazy old guy again! I have over 48 hours of vintage commercials, but not that one, which is odd because it was rather commonly aired back then.
All of those 'just right' sized pickup trucks we had back then. Nobody makes 'em anymore, the small pickup truck class has been completely eliminated, and 'full-sized', ridiculously oversized jacked-up pickups are now just a status symbol and overcompensation tool for the vast majority of owners. I would love to be able to still buy one of these truly utilitarian machines.
Those overgrown pickup trucks want to make me puke. Always a pain to see around when you are backing out. Perfect example of American excess, arrogance and vanity. You hear a lot about the "greedy 80's", but people were far more considerate for one another back then than they are today.
VIctory Television syndicated the 70s COncentration, Match Game PM 1975-81, Match Game daily syndicated 1979-82, and CLassic COncentration had a distributed by Jim Victory Television credit, despite being on NBC.
Had always thought that guy singing the end credits WKRP song was either high or drunk LOL "Big Beef Sale"..theres a joke in there somewhere.. was that guy in the Dodge Center ad supposed to be Buford T. Justice from the "Smokey and The Bandit" movies?
lol the commercial at 5:54 was funny 30 years later STILL FUNNY
LOVED seeing the Intermission bit... "On our 10-point scale, this question has a difficulty rating of.... 9!" Man that brings back so many memories.
That Tri-City commercial is like every stereotypical local ad rolled into one.
This is perfect! I grew up in the bay area and probably watched this on December 31st 1986 with my girlfriend. Nostalgia overload!
oh and a follow up! Tri-City sporting goods-closed. Breuners went Bankrupt and is now online only. Alpha Beta gone. Dodge Center gone. Sigh.
