For me, Elden Ring's best moment was the Radagon cutscene and fight. The theme song coming in genuinely put tears in my eyes, it felt like such an incredible culmination of the adventure

radagon is rly fair and feel dope as fight in general but elden beast theme also hits so hard after cutscene... even if fight is specific in negative way, the OST alone makes u know that this now is surely final boss and u fight, actuall real full god now finally. I feel similar about ds3 and ER that most memorable moments from Souls likes are in those 2 but in general somehow i enjoyed ds 1/2 more than these but none of the moments were as good as Friede gael Lothric, radagon, Godfrey, Malenia even Mogh Morgott and Margit. Ofc there is shitton of tygla knights and doghead gargoyles copy paste which aint even close. Malenia being so simple OST and cutscene wise but u feel in her voice that u gonna get challange now, and well i guess most of ppl did at first ;p No some fancy godlikes themes or arena (untill p2 for OST) u just enter she cals herself blade of miquella and she have never known deafeat pulling swords out and i guess after that most ppl die in 2 secs with quick dash afterwards ( only after entrance cutscene). Memorable moment where u know that she wont go easy on you xD

My favourite FS moments that are not talked about:
-DS3: The twin princes intro cutscene (and the fight)
I mean, you've basically been trying to get here the entire game. The sense of finality is extremely palpable. Depending on when in the game you do the dlc (I generally do Ringed City from Kiln of the 1st Flame teleporter, getting to Gael as the 2nd to last boss and then go for SoC, but maybe I'll switch it around), Lothric castle and the Twin Princes are basically the intro to the DS3 endgame, which is so packed with beauty, badassery, and emotion, that getting to it feels revitalising every single time. It's like "This game was _good_ before, but now it's gonna get _real good_ . Strap in"
-DS3: 1st view of Ariandel Chapel and crossing the bridge. I talked about this in your bridges video, so I won't repeat myself, but this moment is like something out of a horror movie, like when that girl first sees the Bates Motel sign; Only it's also gothic, and therefore jaw-droppingly beautiful and poetic on top.
-Elden Ring: Getting a good view of the Crumbling Farrum Azula _skybox_ for the 1st time. Stick with me here. Remember those comments that are like "Elden Ring where is the sun?" or "What happened to the sun?" or "Erdtree=sun?" and so on? For the entire game, the actual sun is completely obscured by the Erdtree, and the golden colours and navigating presence really build a strong analogy here, that in this world, the Erdtree is the Sun; symbolically speaking, the one true God, as sunlight is often, nay, always, associated with the royal lineage and the highest "unblemished", "unapproachable" divinity throughout all of Souls. But throughout Mountaintops you get further and further away and the Erdtree grows smaller and smaller in the distance, till you find yourself atop the giants' cauldron, which stands roughly at the same height as the Erdtree itself. This sun then, the one true God is at this point, not "untouchable" but a peer; You have scaled the mountain and proven yourself the God's equal. That's when you begin your battle, and set the tree aflame. But then you get to Farrum Azula, and if you look on one side of the horizon, you'll see all the Lands Between, small and distant. In this area, you have essentially escaped the Lands Between, you're no longer a spiritual prisoner, and the name clicks. "The Lands Between" is not the world; it's not even a small part of it. And the Erdtree's influence does not extend beyond it. Grace is not a God, just a mere petty despot of a forgotten land. And then you look the other way; And for the very first time, in the far distance and veiled behind clouds, you see the Sun. The actual Sun, that drenches the whole place in its purfying rays of unadorned white. The true Sun has finally dawned on the world from behind despots and tyrants, and power-hungry cosmic entities; And the reality has finally dawned on you and illuminated your mind, that a true day, the natural world order, is to finally dawn on the Lands Between, where creatures will be led by the Sun, that has been with us since before the beginning, not by trinkets, cults, invading aliens, or any external force. Through your epic journey, you have seen through these false prophets, and now you finally see beyond them. It's the most profound moment of Elden Ring for me, it's where you reach enlightenment; Atop the cauldron, you are the peer of the Greater Will. In Farrum Azula, you surpass it. It's like when an airplane finally exits the clouds and rises above them.

Most will disagree but the twin princes cutscene (where there's an extreme close-up of lothric's mouth) is the creepiest moment of DS3 for me. It's spine chilling for me. Doesn't make me hate that them, just want me to get as far away from them as I can.
      Eldritch at its best.

The reveal of Yahar'gul after beating Rom probably takes the cake as my favourite moment in the whole series. It was awesome how you could explore a section of the area before during the games night time phase in a completely separate context and environment which makes the place even creepier and thought provoking once you return to find the sky all wack and the buildings littered with giant nightmare spiders with a hundred eyes and laser beams. 10/10

By far my favorite moment in Elden Ring, is your first step into Leyndell. It is engrained into my mind more than the vista of Liurnia because Leyndell’s aesthetic and just the area overall is my favorite in the series.
I haven’t finished Ringed City yet, but the best DS3 moment for me was the phase 1 to 2 transition of the Sister Friede boss fight. The arena destroyed, Ariandel’s scream, the OST transition, gives me CHILLS

this may not be anyone else's favorite moment, but emerging from the ruin strewn precipice and ending up in altus was truly magical for me, since ever since before the game launched I was excited to "reach the autumnal area and fight that dragon" and I didn't know that ruin strewn precipice would get me there, I was just exploring liurnia and came across it, I fought makar (who was the first magma wyrm I found) then went up this elavator then suddenly I'm like "WAIT THIS IS HOW YOU GET TO THE AUTUMNAL AREA!? THIS GAME IS AN 11/10" I also really enjoyed the feeling of starting the game for the first time at 12 AM after years of waiting for release, and getting to see the chapel of anticipation, opening cutscene, and seeing how different things are since the network test, and hearing the iconic reveal trailer hammer sound and the main theme in the final boss cutscene was amazing.

      YEEES!!
To me, ascending that dungeon was something I've been waiting for.. since watching Lord of the Rings 1 in 2001 (Mines of Moria)???
I hoped to get it with Diablo III (after early gameplay trailers) - big nope.
Then Dark Souls 1 came out, and I got that sensation descending Valley of the Drakes, Blighttown, and especially Demon Ruins (the last part of ToG as well).
But looking up from the bottom of Liurnia, then actually ascending those high path ways aaaall the way up the cliffside was THE BEST feeling ever - what I want in an exploration focused "action RPG" that's more about gameplay and discovery than role playing a character.
..you have no idea how much I hoped we would do the same with Mt. Gelmir, but that ended up being just a couple of RIDICULOUSLY long ladders :-(

DS: "Take your precious demon soul".
DS1: well, probably the opening cinematic.
DS2: the whole Burnt Ivory King experience.
DS3: yeah gotta give it to third phase Gael.
BB: oh man. I'm between reaching Iosefka's clinic through that cave in the Forbiden Woods, discovering Rom, Ludwig's transition, or the Fishing Hamlet revelation behind Maria. Choose your side.
ER: beating Malenia. And it's not even close.

It may be cliche but the fight with Gehrman always gives me goosebumps. On my first playthrough I spent so much time soloing the chalice dungeons without a guide I forgot all about him. When I went to finally complete the run and chose not to submit, for whatever I didn't think I'd have to fight him. As a boss he's not over designed, the score is amazing as is the arena, and the cutscene is phenomenal. As much as I loved the kidnapping sequence and trying to figure wtf just happened, the fight with Gehrman was/is just the perfect crescendo to one of the best souls experiences out there.

My favourite moment in the series was the start of the Secret Betrayal in DS3. Hidden in a corner of a dark and haunted Firelink Shrine (which is perhaps the most obscure-feeling and eerie place in the game or even the whole series), you find the Fire Keeper's eyes, and when you bring them back to her, the music suddenly changes to a more beautiful, but slightly uneasy melody... Probably most goosebumps moment in any game I've played.

I was late to play Elden Ring, started 6 months after the game's release. I did my best to avoid any spoilers and I did a good job not spoiling any major bosses or areas apart from of course Malenia. She in her winged helmet was on dozens of thumbnails in youtube, news articles, reddit posts, pretty much everywhere people were saying how hard she is and the whole Let me Solo Her epic story.
But I had no idea where she was exactly I knew from the story she should be in Haligtree but when I went through the fog gate I was not expecting her and the "most difficult fight in all of soulsborne". So when I saw her on that chair and then she said "And I have never known defeat." my pulse went up to 200 knowing that this is it. I went through all flasks but with mimic tear I managed to down her to 2n phase on my first attempt not being sure if I made it or not and then I saw the scarlet queen in all of her might. I don't think any game in the next decade will be able to top that.

What i love so much about ds1 is how non-linearity creates unique experiences for every player. My favourite experience was getting stuck on Quelaag and exploring as much of the rest of the world as i could until i found Sif. I wasn't too underleveled, but i was still not that good at the game and fatrolling so it was rough but very fun. Most players following normal progression will find themselves overleveled for the fight and won't appreciate just how good it really is

Demon's Souls - Tower of Hope, Latria - this place is soaked in atmoshpere. From the lightning and thunder, the bells, the crying and muttering from jailed enemies, the singing of the Former Royal's Wife alll the way to the Fool's Idol. I love it. A close second is the Storm King boss fight.
Dark Souls - Reaching The Painted World of Ariamis. The snow, the enemies, the atmosphere etc. A close second was seing Ash Lake for the first time.
DS2 - Entering Majula for the first time. The music, the vista, and the openness really impressed me.
Bloodborne - Hypogean Gaol. The kidnapping, the haunting music, the tough enemies etc. true horror and an early sign that all wasn't as it seemed.
DS3 - Untended Graves. Reaching that area from taking a detour in Lothric Castle blew me away. Seeing the dark version of the starting area and facing one of the most fun bosses in the game.
Sekiro - The same as yours - reaching Fountainhead Palace. Same reasons you gave.
Elden Ring - Seeing Dominula, Windmill Village for the first time. The dancing Celebrants who were quick to anger, the Altus Plateau theme in the background. This culminated in one of my favourite moments in the series when I encountered Godskin Apostle for the first time at the top. It was wonderful.

Whenever the topic of why Elden Ring is so special comes up, it's this moment, or the gameplay sequence it concludes, that I point to. There is nothing like it anywhere. Also i defeated him in 1 attempt.

DS2: Fighting the Looking Glass Knight first time.
    BB: Fishing Hamlet reveal.
DS3: Gaels arena pan out veiw.

Dark Souls - First time I saw Anor Londo. This was really special because people talked for years how good that place was, so I looked forward to going there from the very start and to face of O&S, and when I got up there I was like: I can now finally experience what everyone else has.
Bloodborne - When I beat Blood-starved Beast on my first try. I was really proud of myself because Bloodborne was my first FromSoft game and still is my favorite, so the first time when I beat a boss on my first try made me proud.
Dark Souls 3 - It has to be seeing Irithyll for the first time. It’s literally DS3’s Anor Londo moment. After all the shit you’ve been through and then you get to see this winter-themed christmas city was just amazing! Still my favorite winter area in the series, although Cainhurst is close.
Sekiro - When I beat Emma and Isshin Ashina. First of all, Emma has easily the best boss music in the game and even among the best in the series. Beating them was the last trophy I needed to get the platinum, and Sekiro was also my first platinum, so that’s also special.
Elden Ring - I want to say either encountering Godskin Noble in Volcano Manor or beating Mohg Lord of Blood for the first time, because they were the first fights I encountered that I thought had good music, and they were the first among a handful of bosses that gave me the satisfaction of fighting them on the same level as fighting bosses in previous games.
But I’ll give the moment to the only moment in the game that actually made me surprised at how big something in the game was. It was opening that portable chest in Weeping Peninsula only to be transported to Leyndell, and this is the reason why I put this as my favorite moment: I was really surprised to see that the Erdtree was THAT big. Unlike everyone else, I expected the game to be as big as it was (maybe even bigger) and I was apparently also the only one who watched the trailers and promotional images because honestly, I was surprised to see people so surprised to the Liurnia vista among other locations when everybody had already seen them in trailers. But the Erdtree’s size, that was a special sight to behold for the first time! :D

Having a fight on an invisible path was the most epic thing that happened to me on Elden Ring, unexpected since i didnt play online and these little guys were so annoying!
DS1 Tomb of Giants without lighting is a unique experience especially the first time you come across one of those skeleton beasts.
DS2 Eleum Loyce, the white ring maldron being friends and then backstabbing you :D
DS3 When you get Sister Friede's phase 2 done and then you realize that there is a phase 3.
Demon Souls, i can only think on the octopus guards killing me all the time, i was terrified every corner of that place!
Thanks Miyazaki for doing so many amazing games!

Demon Souls - Upper Latria, the giant beating heart. Just metal AF. The PS5 graphics were so good that this was really unsettling
Dark Souls 1: The raising of the gate and entering Sens Fortress. The culmination of so much hard work, just for the game to say “oh you thought that was hard?”
DS2: Arriving at Drangleic Castle. The rain and the mood matched the melancholy tale of King Vendrick perfectly.
Bloodborne: When the Astral Clock Tower opens to reveal the Fishing Hamlet. Never in any Soulsborne game have I wanted answers as badly as I needed to know what happened in the hamlet…and it did NOT disappoint.
DS3: Walking into Slave Knight Gael’s battle. Yes I’m another Gael fanboy. Seeing him there at the end of all things and witnessing what he was willing to sacrifice to start anew was epic.
Sekiro: Genichhiro Way of Tamoe transformation. Guy beat my butt repeatedly then when I finally think I got him he transforms and kills me when almost near death. I was furious. Then next try beat him with 6 gourds left. Ultimate get gud moment.
Elden Ring: The 4 Belfry waypoint to Crumbling Faram Azula. The beauty of the screen, the mystery of where TF was I, would I ever be back? Magnificent and mysterious.

DS1: The double elevator shortcut going back to Firelink from Parish. Such a strong feeling of relief and excitement
DS2: Seeing the end credits because I was done with this awful game. Being serious, though probably the drop into Ivory King's arena. It's so unexpected and jaw dropping to go from a snow area to Hell itself
Bloodborne: The abandoned workshop. Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring tried to do this again, but the first time is always the most effective to me
DS3: Opening cutscene of gael/any of his phases. Any of them work
Sekiro: Haven't finished but ill go with the Genichiro fight from what I've played up to
ER: I have 2 for this one.
    1. Godfrey going full wrestler mode in phase 2 caught me so off guard. The last thing I would have guess is that he would kill the lion thing and go full on wrestler mode. I absolutely lost it at this part and he remains my favorite boss in the game
    2. The first time seeing the overworld in Limgrave. One of the most unforgettable moments in any game I've played and I would do anything to be able to experience it for the first time again

Demon Souls - Finding the true final boss, I was honestly so shocked, and I;m kinda glad it makes False King Allant the "true" final boss.
Dark Souls 1 - Entering Anor Londo, the classic moment, it felt so distinct and holy compared to the rest of the game.
Dark Souls 2 - Burnt Ivory King's entrance, probably one of the most badass entrances in the series, as well as feeling so climatic with all the soldiers around you.
Bloodborne - Germhan's cutscene, I mean cmon, can't hate the tragedey and climatic feeling of this.
Dark Souls 3 - Reaching the end of the world, idk this moment just hit, idk why, I was close to saying the return of Gwyn but I think its a bit too nostalgic.
Sekiro - Beating Isshin, probably the toughest boss first time round and feels incredible to beat, loved it.
Elden Ring - Entering Leyndell, the best level in the series and teh coolest reveal ever.

Bloodborne- The beginning of the game with the giant fire and all the people inside there houses the enemy s yelling out you, it really sets the tone, basically the entirety of centeral yharnam
Ds3: Getting to the top of irithyll and seeing the anor lando castle and finding the dead giant
Sekiro: when you cut of your head and it turns into Sakura blossoms
Eldin ring: finally making it to the church on the plateau and putting the ring on Ranni

Most Fromsoft games have these "vistas" that really make you appreciate the art and level design, but Elden Ring has way too many of them, and they happen till the very end. Randomly stumbling upon the underground cities, the view of Liurnia after Stormveil, getting teleported to Caelid from that chest, reaching the Atlus Plateau from both the lift and the mines, the view of Lyndell with that incredible ost and the enemy flutes, the view of Elphael as you descend down the Haligtree and first time seeing Farum Azula.
I genuinely cannot thing of any other game which has made my jaw drop this many times. Its insane

Here is one of my favorite gaming moments ever:
Its from Bloodborne. My first soulslike. And im getting my ass kicked around central yharnam for hours (i was completely clueless about how to play), but im enjoying the game and the atmosphere. I decide to change my playstyle to have a more patient approach. I stroll around the area for hours, actually managing to find the shortcut and not getting killed. As i gather more and more blood echoes, so i get more and more nervous.
And then i find the Cleric Beast. While holding 22k freaking blood echoes (yes, you read that right).
    "Oh."
The music. The atmosphere. The awesome boss design. Its intimidating. And then i manage to kill it in my first try. In retrospect, its not a hard boss and 22k is not much, but you have to understand: i couldn't know that at the time. I use the lantern to go to the hunters dream, because now i have 26k to spend O.o
And then i notice: the doll is alive now (found the madman's knowledge, but didn't use it). And while listening to that comfy music from this cozy hub area after all that, i talk to her and make my character stronger. "this is just the start". I feel like im ready for anything now (of course i wasn't :p)
Videogames are something else, man. Bloodborne is still the best souls game in my mind, but maybe im biased, hehe.

Great list, some truly unbelievable moments in every game! Some of mine:
Dark Souls - Being taken up to Anor Londo for the first time by the gargoyles, hands down one of my favourite moments in any game.
Dark Souls II - Finding out the lore of Nashandra and the other fragments of Manus, seeing the Shrine of Amana, or Majula every time I go back. Don't understand the hate, I came back last year and it quickly became one of my favourites!
Dark Souls III - I'll never forget the first time I opened the game and sat down with my best friend to listen to the title theme. Otherwise, Slave Knight Gael or the Twin Princes fights. The latter has my favourite line in any Souls game: "Rise, if you would... for that is our curse"
Elden Ring - Morgott the Omen King. Not one of the hardest fights in the game, but such brilliant voice acting and a fantastic opening cutscene + reveal

  • @estarriol7

Good video. Not going to comment on everything but:
Demon's Souls - Was my first Souls game so I'm more attached to it than most. Lots of great moments but the Maiden Astraea fight blew me away the most - you fight your way down and further down through blood, filth and endless rain, expecting Astraea to be a deformed monster and... she's not,. And Garl isn't either. And they are questioning your purpose. And the atmosphere of that room is amazing. And the music is amazing. Just a masterpiece of spectacle and storytelling.
DS1 - Definitely Ash Lake. I was blown away that there were no less than 2 secret areas past a well-hidden secret. And the atmosphere of Ash Lake... just felt timeless and eerie. Amazing.
Elden Ring - I played it at launch and avoided spoilers with all my might. In general discovering just how huge the map is was amazing but the ride down on the lift to the underworld... one of the best moments in gaming history IMO. Runner up would be the view from the top of Leyndell when you first emerge.

My favorite from Bloodborne is when you meet Gascoigne for the first time in his boss fight. It's great to show you how fucked up everything in this world has and Gascoigne's line show's you that everyone succumbs to the scourge sooner or later. Plus, his boss fight and arena go hard.

Haven’t played Demon Souls sadly, but…
Dark Souls: Finding the Fair Lady and realizing what I’d done by killing Quelaag 😢
Dark Souls 2: The Burnt Ivory King’s entrance and shouting during the fight 😮
Dark Souls 3: tie between the battle with Abyss Watchers when they combine and Sirris’ death after fighting Lothric and Lorien
Bloodborne: the story of Father Gasgoine and his family. Ouch.
Sekiro: Tie between facing the Divine Dragon and then facing Owl Father (my favorite fight of all time)
Elden Ring: Elden Beast was awesome and Ranni’s quest was fascinating (mostly because I was in it for the sword but ended up married lol) However, nothing topped beating Malenia and realizing I’d finally beaten the toughest thing Fromsoft had ever been able to make.
