This is year 2 Batman so he is not quite the Batman with a code yet. He is young and angry. That is why we hear The Penguin yelling “He is crazy”. Batman is just starting out. Also the Batcave is in some stockyard instead of it being underneath the Wayne Manor.

The makeup he's wearing is because all of the Batman actors have worn makeup to hide their eye color and the skin around their eyes so as not to give their way their true identities to someone who may know them while they're staring at him through the mask. So, they decided to incorporate that aspect I'm behind the scenes filming of all the Batman films into the actual movie.
Jeff Brown if you notice batman’s eyes when the mask is on, you’ll olive black make-up, which up until this movie just magically disappeared when he takes his mask off. They decided to keep it in this one to add a layer of realism

This movie's apparently going to take place in Bruce Wayne's second year of being Batman, so he'll be more of a rookie in the crime-fighting business and he's still a bit of a loose cannon in terms of his anger. The villains in the film will be The Riddler (who will be the main villain, played by Paul Dano) and Penguin (played by Colin Farrell). Honestly, with how Pattinson's career has gone post-Twilight (only saw the first one and honestly was not a fan) and how interesting his choice of roles has been, I knew he would be a fantastic choice for the role. I will say, my favorite aspect of this movie is the director, Matt Reeves, who directed "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" and "War For the Planet of the Apes". Extremely talented filmmaker and with him at the helm here, I'm that much more excited.

Also, this is more based on the original Detective Comics where it's a lot darker grittier and more disturbing because it is Gotham City and it's a more human and relatable version of Batman in the real world so it makes sense that it would be more atmospheric and more gothic considering it is Batman. They are using the movies prisoners, seven and the comic books long Halloween and I believe it is Batman: zero year as inspiration for Matt Reeves' film.

And the "I am Vengence" line is a callback to a longer line that appears in the 90s cartoon and the later Arkham games, both when Batman is assaulted psychically/psychological with an attempted attack on his identity and self-image: "I am Vengence, I am The Night, I am Batman."
I love how there's no color in this Batman suit. Nor is that cape anything like wings. It turns him into this dark SHAPE. And when he said "I'm vengeance" I believed him. This is not Justice. He isn't even Batman, not yet. Plus--that fight! It was vicious! And all in one take! Usually when you break someone's arm that ENDS the fight. He just kept pounding that guy! Likewise this Bruce Wayne doesn't look like a playboy. He looks like a tortured, haunted man with ISSUES. It is pretty clear the main villain is The Riddler. But Riddler as a serial killer. We also saw Catwoman and Penguin. But the card left for the Batman had an owl. Owls are the only animal that hunts bats. In the comics Batman has always dark makeup around his eyes, it's nothing unusual. I think Pattinson will do justice to the character, he is an amazing actor. The producer wants to focus on Batman's detective skills and I think the riddler is the right enemy for this. I like how unrecognizable Colin Farrell is in this movie as the pinguin. Looking forward to it.
This is Batman in his second year. Year one and year two Batman is a very brooding and terrifying Batman in the comics, Bruce is still adapting to his life as a vigilante in year two and he’s very aggressive and still rough around the edges which is why he brutally beats thugs within an inch of their life. ever since they came out with daredevil on netflix i was really hoping they would have an adaptation of Batman that was close to that in tone. although the nolan trilogy was pretty grounded and not as extravagant and out there as marvel or the recent DCEU films, it still had a larger scale and kind of focused on more action crime thriller drama a la HEAT. this batman kind of goes even further into the thriller gritty aspect but on a much more intimate scale. at least thats what i gather from the trailer. Closer to a detective noir than a "super hero" movie.

Actor wise, Robert is 34. Playing a most likely 26 year old Batman.
But the youngest actor was Bale. He was only 29 when he shot Batman Begins.

ever since they came out with daredevil on netflix i was really hoping they would have an adaptation of Batman that was close to that in tone. although the nolan trilogy was pretty grounded and not as extravagant and out there as marvel or the recent DCEU films, it still had a larger scale and kind of focused on more action crime thriller drama a la HEAT. this batman kind of goes even further into the thriller gritty aspect but on a much more intimate scale. at least thats what i gather from the trailer. Closer to a detective noir than a "super hero" movie.
This is only the 2nd year of him being batman before he finds his morale compass he is just rage and violence

missed you both.. for some reason I haven't been getting any notifications . They look to be going back to a younger batman.. Ben Affleck was playing old man bat. Younger batman went through a morally gray patch for a while so I'm not surprised to see this looking dark.

As a batman fan who read the comics, Chris Nolan films werent dark enough. Batman was always supposed to be dark and gritty. He deals with serial killers and insane people in the comics. Dc comics is actually geared towards adults while marvel is mainly for children.
