I like that Bede was a rival you were meant to hate. Since Gary, they got nicer and nicer until gen 7 where I don't even remember a proper rival, there was just Hau, but this gen he felt like Gary did back in the day. It's also hilarious what happened to him in the story, that felt very new for Pokémon.
Gen 7 had Gladion, who was standoffish and distant. He insulted you and Hau a few times and wasn't friendly to you, but slowly warms up to you because he had genuine reasons for why he turned out the way he did.
Gen 7 is a bit of an exception because your player character is the true rival in the story. This argument has been made a few times, but just think about it for a sec. In the old Pokemon games, who was always a step ahead of you? Your rival. Now who was always a step ahead of Hau? His rival, you. I can just imagine their theme, it would have a somewhat regal tone, but it would at some point shift into something either chaotic or silly, and after a short point, shift back to the regal sound, given their hilarious nature (I mean really, who is going to take them seriously with haircuts like that).

You add so much energy to these tracks, loved the gym leader theme you cranked out before Sword and Shield launched. Every theme since then has been gold after you got ahold of it. Well done again. 👏👏👏
