- You need to be at least an SC1 Pro to beat this final Orc mission, and you can't convince me otherwise.

Can't wait for him to try the Dark Portal Campaign and having to restart because your heroes get sniped by Wizards or Death Knight Insta kill spells from out of vision
I did the first BtDP orc mission today and was like: "wtf?!" Taking death coils from out of screen and losing Grom a bunch of times lol.
@@chaferraro that was indeed hilarious to watch XD He still plays competitive style and so triggers events when he pushes ahead to scout before his base is stable XD
The fact that there was never a warcraft 4 means we are in the worst timeline 😢
It would be very difficult to one up WC3. They should have completed the naga and demon playable races for single player at least, perhaps as an apology for deforged.
@@JVDAWG1 I don't think it would be that hard, sc1 was a pretty great game and sc2 was still kickass, its just about taking the formula and cleaning up the flaws while modernizing. The hardest part is going to be reverting blizzard back to a company that can pull that off
I'm sure it' a money issue. A former Blizz employee said that the first shiny mount for WoW made more money than Starcraft 2, which was an AMAZING game.
RTS unfortunately requires a lot of effort to develop and play (and has a lot less potential players around), and there are much safer and lucrative alternatives for a company to make money.
EDIT: Also the lore of WoW has evolved so much that an RTS game would be just weird to play, and require a massive level of lore catchup for players that didn't play WoW
Wait until blizzard is sold/dissolved and the IP is handed to someone else. You DON'T want current Blizz to be ahead of the project
@@frozenlettuce653 actiblizz is the worst. see WC3 reforged if you arent convinced
The reason boats and catapults take so long to fire sometimes is they attack REALLY slowly, and I'm pretty sure every time you tell them to attack the delay on their attack gets renewed.
it doesn't get renewed. but targeting a new unit on their own adds a small delay. this happens to all units, not just catapults. it's like everyone needs to stare at their target for a bit before they start attacking. manually targeting a unit skips the need to stare their opponent down.
@@splinterlandsbattlesexplain again,plz!
I have so much trouble managing battle ships, dragons/gryphons and catapults!
They do not move or shoot!
What's the best way of managing them?!
@@chaferraro what I said wasn't true on the bnet edition and what you said was correct, right clicking does add a delay
@@splinterlandsbattles 😭
@@chaferraro nvm I was right. watching a game right now and I was accurate. but it's a very small delay.
I'm bad at the game I just know some technical details
For some reason, this mission is a core memory for me. I still remember that weird start going south next to the mountains...
If you go to ruins of the Lordaeron on the island (in world of warcraft), it still has the same mountains blocking you from Silverpine Forest side.
Obviously this versions is very simplified.. But the map still somewhat matches to WoW
I remembered the shape of the map when I saw the huge square area bordered by water. The citadel of Dalaran. Unlike all other human fortifications, the shape doesn't even pretend to be natural.
I love that you can say, "I've got to think like a n00b" while instantly going into muscle memory macro I've never grasped while trying my hardest.
1:21:05 nobody pointing out that the installer for War2 was programmed by the guy wrote "The Martian".
I DID NOT KNOW THAT!
what the, didn't know either
Yep! Programmer and author!
Just checked his wiki page and it's true!
They did point it out in the video.
"the catapult taking damage is actually great" This is what we call foreshadowing ladies and gentlemen
man I love you Day9 thanks for existing for real
Listening to the cookie monster esk voices of all of those orks from a background tab while I code is pleasant.
I think a really neat bit of continuity that went forward into WoW was that the siege of Lordaeron was from the south across a large body of water. And on the WoW map that would actually make sense. The Silverpine Lake is there and there are a number of islands in the middle.
How would you expect them to attack from the north, anyway? All significant powers and sensible travel routes are all to the south.
@@Gorvinhagen Exactly.
WoW was nice and soulful until about 20 #$)$(#$) years later.
@@KnownAsKenji First few years of WoW were the best years. It was still a wide open mystery and you weren't cranking through 9 expansions worth of content. City sieges and open world combat were glorious things. Battlegrounds had long queues but each one was meaningful and everyone you fought was someone you had personal beefs with on your own server, rather than unknowns from cross server. AV battles could last for days and it felt like you were in WWII, changing of the guards, sleeping, then logging back in to grind away at the enemy, hoping you hadn't lost ground over night. Rallying troops to push for a tower take down.
Every dungeon was a new experience that you had to figure out, as there were no actual strats formed yet -- until they were, but if you were in a small guild you could easily have been in a small bubble of your own discovery. It felt like you were breaking new ground. The world was massive but not as cavernous as it is now, so it felt more personal. There was a clear order of play, from the various wings of the Scarlet Monastery to Sunken Temple, Maurodon, ZF, and Dire Maul. Blackrock Mountain was the place to be, after doing your Strat and Sholo runs. Getting attuned to MC -- it all felt like a clear path and everything felt well rounded and meaningful.
AYE MATEY, YOU'RE THE CAPTAIN! AHOY!! ARRRGH?AYE MATEY, YOU'RE THE CAPTAIN! AHOY!! ARRRGH?AYE MATEY, YOU'RE THE CAPTAIN! AHOY!! ARRRGH?AYE MATEY, YOU'RE THE CAPTAIN! AHOY!! ARRRGH?AYE MATEY, YOU'RE THE CAPTAIN! AHOY!! ARRRGH? WE'RE UNDER ATTACK
ARRRGH?
I’M EIGHTY, YOU’RE THE CAPTAIN
A-Horde*
I'm not that kind of orc!
Mission 1 was to build 4 farms and a barracks. Every mission has that first lesson in mind lol
I fully enjoyed the ability to track the steadily increasing decline of Sean's mental state given his save game names getting to be more and more gibberish.
W2 at decent APM is what ADHD must feel like
While also listening to a podcast
Oh, so that's why I always found it relaxing 😅
Pretty accurate
friendly fire is a real thing from catapults and dragons. You were hurting yourself as much as the enemy.
I miss the pre-evil Blizzard days so much.
Don't cry because it's over... Or do. I know I am.
WE'RE BEING ATTACKED!!!
ZUG-ZUG
STROBU
I'm loving seeing the use of a mix of units to deal with all the different enemy units and buildings.
Man this music is so nostalgic. Thank god Hs music takes a lot from this game
Sean didn't learn from the other missions that you need to be very efficient, and that constantly building things you don't need like extra peons or farms just means you will lose. Static Defense is also super cost efficient in this game. I have 1/4 of his APM and didn't have a problem with most of these missions as I just didn't build stuff I didn't need and held off their waves for just repair money.
Fun fact: You can use attack ground to kill subs without detection. You can guess the location pretty easily biased on where their projectile comes from.
If the unit has attack ground. I believe Destroyers won't have for example.
it is really painful that Day9 did not build a lumbermill right away, this would have given him such a resource boost
22:19 seriously, wc2 is so bada** with the permanent polymorph spell. I miss when games had powerful spellcasters like that.
34:31 the ai really caught day9 in a trap there, perfect line of fire.
Seeing that Andy Weir worked on WC2 is wild.
Marshal is the highest wartime military rank in most countries and during medieval times. Considering this is a medieval games that takes place in a European-like world, Marshal is appropriate. In many countries today Marshal is essentially a five star general.
*lands a massive host of Ogres and Catapults accompanied by Ogre Juggernauts*
*gets hit by single griffon*
Hahaha gg man, that's crazy how well the difficulty holds up.
So many memories from this game...
Well, this brings back memories of my childhood.
Great nostalgic videos. I do not remember the final missions as hard though. In my memory, I just mass produced the most expensive unit and rushed everything with it. But maybe, this is just my memory clouding what it was really like.
Original campaign was like that, yes. This last mission? Just produce dragons non-stop, a squad of 9 will kill most of the base if anything is left send another one
Sean made me buy wc2 to cure my nostalgia lol.
Final orc mission I sincerely didn't find that difficult, I just barred the north side of both bases with plenty of arrow towers and some cannons. Maybe some catas behind them (turns it into a meat grinder).
Final mission is resource plentiful so you can mass whatever units (fully upgraded) you want, in the end I made 6 roosts , 40 dragons, and kept sending them to the enemy island. Eventually it fell.
Now, Dalaran is another beast!
The mission before last was harder for me because gold is scarce and so massing dragons is not so viable, iirc oil is also scarce and far away behind enemy lines, so not a good option.
Almost didn't make on gold trying trolls, catas and dragons.
PS: My RTS skills and APM sucks.
Move people, farm a bit, move more people. This is basically every 90s RTS last mission. Warzone 2100s tend to be a gigantic wall of stuff.
The Final Orc Mission was a peace of cake compared to the Human one.
Could've used the sappers at the start to clear the trees by the mine.
*reads every name in the credits until art department and then just stops*
Artists always suffer.
"Heal is better than bloodlust"
Go look up the math on Bloodlust, it can triple damage in fully upgraded scenarios. Because surface area becomes such a limiting factor in WC2, bloodlust can get absolutely out of control strong. Those same groups of axe throwers with bloodlust would kill knights before they even close the distance.
42:05 I wonder if that has something do with what version you are playing. When I tried to play last time, I found one that had good aggro and attack functionality but was a bit laggy, and one that was smooth but erred in the former.
The fact that this is supposed to be lorderan, and it doesn't use any walls, and not all that many towers always made this mission feel anticlimactic to me. I wanted to destroy a proper city, which yes we did to Dalaran the previous mission, but I just wish they put a bit more thought into the design or Lorderan.
3:53 uh that 99 99 hurts so bad :P.
Use attack ground on your juggernault ships to destroy submarine even if you can't target them.
Genuinely I just rushed out a bunch of Axe Throwers and Grunts as a kid and worried about upgrades once I could stabilize. Guard Towers help distracting the harassing troops. I just mashed barracks and spent a ton of gold lol. But yeah that last mission is NUTS
Honestly, I always felt that the final Human mission was harder.
I use to love this game, as a kid all I would do is practice the absolute fastest way to rush dragons and I feel like I had it perfected.
This fucking level, man... I'm triggered just by the starting minimap. ZUG ZUG
i don't recall this being the last mission at all
I played Wc2 recently as i had never beaten the expansion.. I played at the fastest game speed which definitely played against me, but the final orc mission is literally insane in the expansion lol. First time I thought i was doing good.. until I ran out of gold and my enemies raw their mines dry too. Couldn't kill the final base..
@0:28:40 This is exactly how younger me played Warcraft 2 when it came out, so yes that is EXACTLY how a Noobie would play.
Would be awesome if this was Lake Lordamere. North of which would be Lorderon and south would be Dalaran.
Also considered Loch Modan in the beginning.
This music is so epic I actually forgot to listen to you day9
The AI focused your catapult lol
ToD is pretty tame compared to Beyond the Dark Portal. Try that one next.
Has any other gaming series had a bigger impact than Warcraft? Warcraft 1 was the first RTS game, which in itself is huge, but it resulted three extremely important and genre defining spinoffs. 1. Starcraft - the most popular RTS game and the game that basically gave rise to E-Sports as a thing. 2. DOTA - people often forget that the original DOTA started as a mod in Warcraft 3 and it spawned the entire battle arena genre (ie League of Legends). 3. World of Warcraft - While WoW may not have been the first MMORPG, it is not only the most successful and popular MMO of all time, but possible the most popular and successful game of all time. Three extremely impactful spinoffs.
Dune 2 predates Warcraft 1
@@theMagos oh yeah you're right. Still you can't deny the impact the warcraft series had.
deforestation seems like azeroths greatest threat frankly.
Pls do the other campaign too
I used only dragons and won last orcs mission without problems
Beyond The Dark Portal let’s go!
The base game was cake compared to Beyond the Dark Portal, too. I remembered struggling only a few missions into the orc campaign in Beyond the Dark Portal. I don't think I ever beat it, maybe I should go back now
Can you honestly say, with no corporate strings attached, what your favorite blizzard game is? If it's sc2 because of the campaign, i am with you. If it is something else, i would love to hear why
who would win, Day9 or 1 griffy boi
idk if you ever read these man but I'll say I look up to two people and just two people. And that's you and Anthony Bourdain
Work complete
if I remember correctly, the last human campaign mission is actually considered to be MUCH harder
Ya it is considerably harder.
"Insaller programming: Andy Weir". Is that the same Andy Weir who wrote (among other books) the Martian? I couldn't find anything on the webz, but does anyone have a definitive answer?
Yup. See wikipedia for Andy Weir and it is listed under Early Life.
Not sure why using a paladin is a noob play. I remember playing the original RTS when they fisrt came out, although I am rusty 30 years later, I have played recently. I am not saying I am better, just a different play style. I have beat this game with waaayy less losses typically. Catapult with no front line is why you took so many losses since catapults can't hit the tile in front of them and any adjacent or following catapults that can fire will splash damage all your units around that tile, which means constant losses. I do play slower since I retain my units for as long as possible, by pulling units back to heal, especially as the Human alliance.
The narrator voice reminds of Life of Boris.
i'm pretty sure 'a' move actually isnt a thing? its attack the ground where you press. not attack whatever is in your way
Thank you for calling me and others RTS pros.
But this mission is actually very easy. If you continue the campaigns, you will find out.
Plz do beyond the dark portal and play human campaign
Zorg torg
Hey @day9tv please take a look at Warcraft : Chronicles of the second war, it's a modernised Warcraft 2 campaign, very cool
Talos principle 2 DLC stream?
try BLOODLUSTED OGRE MAGES
or you could be me at 5 and type it is a good day to die and then have unkillable orcs that hit like trucks
I beat this whole entire game with just ogres and trolls lol.
Thanks a lot, Day9, now I'm trying to beat Warcraft 2.
22:38 fog of war benis :DDD
Just wait until you play the expansion lol
This is easy.
A moving grunts is better than making the 1st berserker lol
I think I used boats to beat this level. Shore bombardment and landings, turns out there's a reason people do it!
Yeah Juggernauts/Battleships are OP on maps divided by water, like a less extreme version of Cruisers from Red Alert
Wait, Andy Weir? The author of "The Martain"?
Yup. See wikipedia for Andy Weir and it is listed under Early Life.
fewer catapults! you trolling????
I have no idea how i beat warcraft 1 and 2 as a kid
Cheats lol
I remember I've beat last orc mission by "war of attrition", killing griffons and whoever came to my islands without losing own units till enemy ran out of gold.
Yeah it was kind of a cheese tactic, but I was happy either way
War1 Slowest speed lmaooooo, also caster spam 2 was copious amounts of archers/trolls and dragons/gryphons
Time to Warcraft 3
War2 remaster when?
1:15:32
Thinking about the step up from Warcraft 2 to Warcraft 3 -- how impressive could a Warcraft 4 be, considering it has been more than 20 FREAKING YEARS since 3 came out. Too bad Blizzard is an empty shell of what it used to be and probably won't release anything of quality anytime soon..
It would be shit because blizzard is dead
Ahhh yes the famous RTS, World of Warcraft
Catapults is best unit for noobs. Deathknight / Mage is best unit for actual pros.
"I need to be more efficient" and then never casting a death and decay 😭
The AI will instantly 1 shot your dks with pallys
i recently re-beat this game. nothing is hard. not this mission.... nothing. its actually a joke. Try getting every campaign achievement in SC2
I love how the Horde in this game isn't just "actually we're good guys too because we're an enslaved people trying to fight for their freedom". It's "yo, we want this land and you're in our way". I really hate this thing where they turn bad guys into the good guys "actually".
Its like being a Zionist
I miss starcraft Monday fun days
for anybody interested, in my channel you can find out plenty of new generation WAR2 MODS. Plenty of playthroughs while testing the mods I've been doing since 2020, including playlists with proof of the featues. Please feel free to join the live broadcasts!!!!!!

Helldivers 2 on the playlist?
dude, orc campaing is easy mode, last human mission is really insane 🤓
Its insane to think this man was good at sc
This fucking level, man... I'm triggered just by the starting minimap. ZUG ZUG
