Like many of comments here are saying. Don't look too much at a person you don't know here in Portugal, even the most calm of us gets irritated by that. But you got unlucky because you were in a ghetto

I a from Portugal and my mom always says to never go to the metro alone but here people are very friendly and one of the things that portuguese people know how to do is listen. That's why those guys listened to you. Oh and the other guys that hit you or whatever are called the "Bad boys from Portugal" they try to act like strong but there not. And they were probably swearing at you. But I Just want you to know that we are good people and that we are not "bad" we don't have to watch our backs as we are walking on the street.😂😂😂

I'm agnostic but I really respect what you are doing and I'm sorry to hear about those awful experiences you had. It surprises me because I've been here for a while and have found the country very safe. You must have been very unlucky, or they simply target religious people?

It's a decent country they did not hurt you. Go to a run down area of America and do the same, it would be a different outcome.

These things happen. Once in the metro there was a guy kicking and punching the objects around him. Wasn't high or anything and it turns out he was just mentally, (naturally), unstable. Don't know if he was taking medications or anything. He just left the carriage when the train stopped. Nothing absolutely nothing is perfect in this planet.

Hehe that defines us. Even thugs have a good heart and were touched by the gospel. Lovely huh? I would say, specially in Portugal. Be humble, show the good in you, and the odds that you won't have any problem raise.

Tip from a portuguese person, dont do what he did in the metro, keep your money separated so you dont lose all of it and the first thing you should invest in when you get to portugal or your working in the sketchy side of lisbon or porto is a good knife because if you get in a situation like that you will get yourself stabbed so you better have a way to defend yourself
