This song has been there for me in the darkest of times. When I was homeless in the darkest of times this song shed me light. Today I found out that the Woman that I have loved more than any other Woman I have ever known has chosen another man to marry. My heart is breaking as I type this message. I am so sad today. I think when song says "there'll be no more wars", it means when every palestinian is dead and "our children will play" only refers to israeli children. this song has completely lost its meaning after it was played it that rally.

If you know much about Matsiyahu then you would understand that he is has travelled allegorically far and wide to get to where he is. He loves all people, bonds with people from all walks of life. There wasn't a better song of the Olympic games because of this (and the song is incredible.) As a Jew he had every right to sing it at the rally for his people. The message doesn't change; it will always be a song that elevates the human potential to rise above, and elicits deep hope.
