A little tip when fitting new cables my old dad taught me. He was a REME engineer and knew everything about vehicles. Hang the new cables up and make a small 'funnel' out of blu tac or plasticene at the higher end of the cable. Fill this with a light oil, I use a PTFE spray. Put a plastic dish or something under the lower end of the cable. When oil drips out of the cables they are done! This makes them last a lot longer AND adjust easier. Otherwise as they age they rust inside the plastic covers and seize. Great video thanks.
Hi there ! Thanks for the video, I will do this as soon as possible (before the MOT). How can I know exactly which length to buy ? Thanks in advance for your response !
I have a SWB FWD Transporter, 2005 1.9tdi.The problem is that my local parts supplier is asking 60€ while online the prices vary between 5-20. I will try to measure mine! Thanks for the answer, I will keep you posted!
Try this to give you part numbers. All Vw t5 t6 use the same rear cables. You can do it 👍 www.amazon.de/Compatible-Transporter-7H0609701A-7H0609701C-7H0609701E/dp/B0CPC2CKL2/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=30OIPH7BWIQ9C&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.0rlIV7Q1iq7ULJYXa5T31PJNAvGVWKD6BqxbGCchWo3vT6_YIrQgcgZGyAVuNyfsX1f_9g00arHWxZVHAft7DB_yNx2-De3mBpCRj32CjYzheT9-iJ24_SjhvGclmYg6H6oyJr2j-fAeEXtoDshTyI1m3cQexNWwHLpSzHKxBCIk3mgf_U9Rieuw0PPctlMHIx89U-O3I_mmJZmfDZXtSA.xV5Bup2up7QdCtkp7ljHGoRMT1XJiXZtVFc_9KX5R8A&dib_tag=se&keywords=vw+t5+2005+1.9+multivan+hanbrake+cables&nsdOptOutParam=true&qid=1733424261&sprefix=vw+t5+2005+1.9+multivan+hanbrake+cables%2Caps%2C173&sr=8-1
Doesn’t sound right. What exact VW do you have ? As you can see from the video it’s not necessary for the rear parts that are ones that normally go. You can do it 👍

Great feedback and thanks for the contribution. You can do it ?
Well done! I will have do mine as well on my T5 before wintertime and frost!
You can do it :)
Very well demonstrated, I think I'd have to jack mine up, it's been lowered. Thanks
Yes unless you are super thin, if it’s been lowered you won’t get under it. You can do it 👍
