Man it's a love hate relationship with front boards for me... last 3 seasons trying to get them on a pipe/rail and just kook it every time.... the only times I land it are fully committing to it but it's just such a hard trick to stomp all the time, just gotta keep at it! Always appreciate you guys vids though, I always try to follow your tips!!

why is a frontside boardslide and a frontside spin the opposite direction? so confusing

its the way you approach the feature, if you're coming up to the feature with the front of your body facing the rail its called frontside and if the back of your body is facing the feature while coming up to it, it's called backside, hope that clears up some confusion.

Why is this a frontside boardslide when your turning like your doing a backside 360?

Because the rail or box is in the frontside, or toe edge, of you on your approach to it. If the rail was on your backside, or heel edge of you, as you approach it, it would be a backside. It's terms taken from skateboarding.

when i think about it.. shouldn't it be safer to fall with lots of speed than to fall with low speed? I mean if you fall with lot's of speed the force will be 50% on the rail and 50% down the slope, while if you fall with low speed it will be 80% of the impact down the rail? Just some physics.. am i right or not?

And you might not end up falling on the rail if going fast enough

The force with which you hit the ground is directly related to your velocity perpendicular to the ground (i.e.: downwards, on flat ground). The downward component of your velocity is almost solely related to the strength of gravity, which is the same regardless of your forward speed. Your downwards velocity is dictated by the height from which your centre of mass falls to the ground. If you fall while sliding along a flat box or rail, your centre of mass will fall from your standing position to the ground, again, regardless of how fast you're going. The reason why you can fall from a greater height onto a landing is because the transition is aligned more closely with your trajectory, when you hit the jump with the intended speed. This minimises the component of your velocity perpendicular to the transition, so you can land gently.
The only way going faster can make hitting a rail safer is if you go fast enough to clear the rail before you reach the end of your fall and impact it, as Nate suggested.

Any tips for not slipping out? I always lean forward or backward when I try to do backside or frontside board slides. It's hard for me to break my habit of always being on an edge
