Exploring Point Bonita Lighthouse in San Francisco

Point Bonita Lighthouse is a hidden gem in the Bay Area. Constructed in 1855, it was the third lighthouse built on the West Coast and helped shepherd ships through the treacherous Golden Gate straits. Today, the lighthouse is still active and is maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard. The hours are limited and is currently open on Thursday through Monday from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.

Wow, that’s a pretty neat little walk you get to do before reaching it. I’ve gone to one of the bridge overlooks and driven over it, but never explored anything else. Area looks beautiful.
