That's because engine outs and engine fires aren't all that rare with commercial aircraft, they happen occasionally and can happen for a number of reasons not related to issues with manufacturing, and I doubt it was an issue that resulted from poor manufacturing given the 747's age and record for reliability. Infact, Airbus has had more engine issues than Boeing, but because of the recent controversy with Boeing, this incident is blowing up.
Also, professional pilots are trained for emergencies like this and usually maintain calm demeanors when dealing with emergencies, that's why they are professionals

Boeing just can't catch a break; whether or not the fire has anything to do with them, all we'll hear is that it was a boeing plane & that's what will stick with us. Major props to the pilot staying cool & calm & sticking the landing, a real professional. I think it's a good thing he couldn't see those videos where it looked like the whole plane was ablaze. That is because bean counters were put in charge of the company after their big merger. I've had several friends quit Boeing around that time because there was no longer any commitment to safety and engineering and everything but the actual construction of said planes was offshored with very little oversight. It is to the point now where I won't fly in a Boeing aircraft. Boeing is now reaping what it has sown for decades or, as the kids like to put it, they FAFO'd.

Not so, because if it was a bird strike, then it would be a circumstance subject to ALL aircraft - including the Cessna I fly. If it was a fault of the engine, then it it is a GE, Pratt & Whitney or Rolls Royce issue. In either case, that would not be a Boeing issue. Boeing was once a great company. The merger with McDonell Douglas in the 90s is ruin them. They used a different approach and their business model. There is only so much we pilots and mechanics can inspect prior to a flight on a massive plane such as this one, especially when engines are turned off, fuel, and oil pressures are at their lowest. Planes go though a rigorous inspection and overhaul after a certain amount of hours and we trust the process of replacing parts per the manufactures suggestions. In this case, Boeing has nothing to do with this. This plane has been flying for many years. Before you blame age of plane, as a pilot i rather fly these "old" planes over the new models.

Due to damage or a malfunctioning component this could be more or less simply a backfire from an air compression issue. Obviously you want to land but you get the flame because of the engine fuel backup due to compression failure.
