But then you have Baldi Plus here that got a lot of Kickstarter funding and actually HAS been doing exactly what it promised faithfully and living up to expectations, delivering a quality Baldi's Basics expansion game, and yet it lost so much of its following before the Plus version even released to early access. Of course the Kickstarter game that actually stays faithful and tries to live up to its promises is the one that people stop caring about before it's even finished.
Unfortunately, people have short attention span‘s and move on to bigger and better things way too quickly. But then dedicated fans of the game are just sitting here like don’t forget about it, don’t let it die!
You know I find baldis basic very depressing for me.. Cause I made one simple video which as a joke, a then I get 15m views from that video And now people only want to see my baldis basic content and nothing else. Which is very depressing and sad, cause my content was about jokes and horrible animation.. honestly I don’t know.
I would just say have fun with whatever your doing bro, maybe make a new channel for other content and leave that one on its own for now, or just use the subscriber boost from those videos to promote your other content, and if people don’t want to stay for that that’s their loss
Do that happens towards every lucky channels that has for example a million views over a funny joke video, it's most of all common because of how small TH-camrs video is just so highly recommended towards the TH-cam platform
In my opinion, the "downfall" of games like this is actually what makes the community stronger. Look at Fall Guys and Baldi, a small, dedicated community that isn't hurting anyone and just having fun. Then, look at games like Among Us and Fortnite, games that got so big that their communities grew toxic and everyone just kinda got sick of it.

There might be a slight misunderstanding here concerning the "horror" aspect of the Plus version. It's not that he's shifted away from the horror stuff, he said that horror elements just haven't really been implemented yet; the game is still far from finished but it was taking much longer than anticipated so he decided to release it in early access to not disappoint people and all, yadayada. There's still supposed to be more horror elements and whatnot in the final version, though he said it's going to be more of the underlying creepiness and eerieness kind of horror rather than the loud sudden-screaming-in-your-face kind of horror.
TOTALLY; I only run into these a few times, and I hate it! I waste 30 seconds of my life on these ads! And that doesn't include the lag and loading speed! I feel like that it will escalate to three ads sooner or later!
I remember loving watching Baldi’s Basics stuff back in 6th grade when I was 12. I’m in 9th grade now, and I’ll never forget those fun entertaining memories.
I'm 11th grader right now (but 16 year-old) even my school is closed with THE WHOLE COVID-19. I don't look back at their Amino Community two years ago, but there's a picture for my first Principal character AU in the old album.

To actually tell the truth, 10 days before the Kickstarter ended there was still only 40000, after Micah’s livestream of beating the game it reached it’s goal, then the Kickstarter started having move funds added.
I just remember I huge chunk of the money was funded after the stream. I didn't know who but it happened. I what I was trying to say was that Backings slowed down after half of the goal was met and started to pick up near the end of the deadline.
The most interesting thing to me is the style he chose to use. When I first saw this game, I actually assumed it was a really old computer game from the 80s or early 90s for children. This was an interesting stylistic choice and I feel like he really nailed it. I wish more people would talk about it and compare it to other media of the time to see how it compares.

Chapter 3 was a huge misstep _because_ the other chapters were mostly just story up to that point. Therefore, the kind of audience that followed the game were the ones interested in the story and environmental, suggestive horror. Most of those fans described Chapter 3 as "just one huge fetch quest" and became no longer scared of the typical enemies because they were too common to die to - and this sucked out a _huge_ amount of the horror. People lost interest because Chapter 3's gameplay was not centered on the original target audience, and honestly I agreed at the time that it was kind of tedious as far as gameplay went in the first place. Maybe some people find it fun, but it wasn't most of the original audience's cup of tea at the time. Also, there was a bit of a tone shift in my opinion that just sucked a lot of the entertainment out for me, but that'd take a longer explanation.
it wasn't a failure, and it didn't have a devastating crash. it was just a simple, repetitive demo that got popular on a fluke. I don't think it's dead yet and I definitely see a future in the game

I don't know why but Mark's Baldi's Basics playthrough is one of my favorite playthroughs of all time, maybe being the game's simplicity yet uniqueness and Mark's sheer persistence to finishing it. I wasn't aware of this new game so I'm looking forward to seeing it
I truly think it can and will. After all, if the views of this video, which has Baldi’s Basics in the title our any indication, people will still click on videos that have the title of the game in them. Therefore, it can’t be dead yet.
There was also a modding community for the game which was at first good but slowly died due to many factors, which I made a video on a bit ago (Not gonna say I was not any apart of this). Baldi is what made me meet a lot of friends because of that and the game itself and I hope the game in still able to keep relevancy for long enough to be considered fully completed for mystman himself.
What you said near the end there i think really hit the nail on the head with indie games, the reason they die so quickly is because the games probably get too big for their own good, its extremley hard for a team of 1 to only a few people to constantly roll out new updates for a game and to constantly make seaquels, its inevitable, its not hard for triple A devs because they have big teams that work on their games, so its basically inevitable that indie games like that will die quickly, the reason games like minecraft have stayed a float is not only cuz of youtubers and nostalgia but also the fact that the game is now owned by Microsoft, which means they have the ability to constantly roll out new updates and new content for their game, such stability dosent exist for a small indie dev.

I never even noticed it went obscure. I always liked the original version better than the new version, as the extra content made it feel less like a random old game, and more like a modern day game. Which kinda ruins the magic if you think about it, It just goes to show that sometimes less is more.
Despite the game was made to be a joke, but Baldi's Basics got such interesting ideas like the antagonist is a angry teacher instead a monster, has unique characters and being simply well done!
Something interesting is that in the fan comics, the player is shown to the a student at the school. But in the game it was only stated that their friend left their books at the school. And with baldi saying “welcome to my schoolhouse” and not “welcome back” probably means that the player doesn’t attend the school. I also used to have the layout of the school burned in my brain
The game's random nature with limited gameplay options was always going to hobble success, because after a while, there's just not gonna be that much else people can show that is new.

I like how you said that people aren’t going to give the developers a break just because of the size of the team and that people will lose interest in something that can’t provide content. In a way I think this could apply to any sort of creative field like TH-cam videos, you have to upload daily or else the algorithm will make it more difficult for people to see your video. And if you take a break it will be harder to push your channel up back to relevancy, it’s a sad reality :/
Man I remember being introduced to Baldi. It was Dantdm’s first baldi video and I’m pretty sure I watched on the day it came out and when I watched I loved it I thought it was cool. I also remember when first prize came out and it was interesting. I will always remember Baldi and it will be one of my favourite random games.

As soon as they started giving it a story. As soon as the secret ending was added, it stopped being a parody of stupid and slightly pretentious jumpscare games like Five Nights at Freddy's, and just became another game like that.
Jump scares and loud sounds aren’t scary, they just startle you for a split second and then you’re fine, it’s a cheap way to scare players. The jump scare could be a cute puppy with and adorable bark but the volume extremely loud and it would have the same effect, once you realize what happened all the fear is gone.
baldi's basics sits in a very special place in my heart, I would hate to see it die out forever. I really hope it gets picked up again as time goes by!
A really good game based off of Baldi's Basics is Advanced Education with Viktor Strobovski. It's a similar game but with more focus on hidden quests and secret areas with unlockables

What you said near the end there i think really hit the nail on the head with indie games, the reason they die so quickly is because the games probably get too big for their own good, its extremley hard for a team of 1 to only a few people to constantly roll out new updates for a game and to constantly make seaquels, its inevitable, its not hard for triple A devs because they have big teams that work on their games, so its basically inevitable that indie games like that will die quickly, the reason games like minecraft have stayed a float is not only cuz of youtubers and nostalgia but also the fact that the game is now owned by Microsoft, which means they have the ability to constantly roll out new updates and new content for their game, such stability dosent exist for a small indie dev.

I never even noticed it went obscure.
I always liked the original version better than the new version, as the extra content made it feel less like a random old game, and more like a modern day game. Which kinda ruins the magic if you think about it, It just goes to show that sometimes less is more.
Despite the game was made to be a joke, but Baldi's Basics got such interesting ideas like the antagonist is a angry teacher instead a monster, has unique characters and being simply well done!

Something interesting is that in the fan comics, the player is shown to the a student at the school.
But in the game it was only stated that their friend left their books at the school. And with baldi saying “welcome to my schoolhouse” and not “welcome back” probably means that the player doesn’t attend the school.

The game's random nature with limited gameplay options was always going to hobble success, because after a while, there's just not gonna be that much else people can show that is new.

You forgot to mention that Baldi's Basics had a MASSIVE toy release at Walmart. Plushes, figures, blind boxes. Like, one way or another, this game is not short on funds.
I like how you said that people aren’t going to give the developers a break just because of the size of the team and that people will lose interest in something that can’t provide content.
In a way I think this could apply to any sort of creative field like TH-cam videos, you have to upload daily or else the algorithm will make it more difficult for people to see your video.
And if you take a break it will be harder to push your channel up back to relevancy, it’s a sad reality :/

Man I remember being introduced to Baldi. It was Dantdm’s first baldi video and I’m pretty sure I watched on the day it came out and when I watched I loved it I thought it was cool. I also remember when first prize came out and it was interesting. I will always remember Baldi and it will be one of my favourite random games.
Baldi's basics is a masterpiece, the music stops when you answer wrong, the principal scaring the living hell out of you in the hallway the uncanny characters. It is really just an s tear.

As soon as they started giving it a story. As soon as the secret ending was added, it stopped being a parody of stupid and slightly pretentious jumpscare games like Five Nights at Freddy's, and just became another game like that.
Jump scares and loud sounds aren’t scary, they just startle you for a split second and then you’re fine, it’s a cheap way to scare players.
The jump scare could be a cute puppy with and adorable bark but the volume extremely loud and it would have the same effect, once you realize what happened all the fear is gone.
I cannot believe that 3 years have passed, i never would have thought that i would have nostalgia for this game!
I like how the title makes it sound like things don’t get less popular over time, and like this isn’t the internet.

A really good game based off of Baldi's Basics is Advanced Education with Viktor Strobovski. It's a similar game but with more focus on hidden quests and secret areas with unlockables

However, there's a game who also exploded in the late 2017's and early 2018's: Doki Doki Literature Club, the game came out, exploded, the dev promised a mobile port and updates following by a new game and then simply... Vanished

I remember i had the mobile version of this game when i was in 3rd grade, and i played it when i was returning from school in the bus, and a guy asked if he could play it(if i'm remembering it right). We became friends. One day i stopped going in that bus. Never saw that guy after that.
