I've always liked hello neighbor and always will! I don't care about the glitches or AI, everyone has they're own opinion and I don't blame you for not liking hello neighbor anymore.
"lore", because let's be fair: HN tried to surf in the hidden/theory based lore like FNAF. However, as most cash grabs, they didn't realize why people liked FNAF so much. Why do I add this? Well, we have a FUCKING GENRE of games who prioritize lore over gameplay: visual novels. And there are a lot of games which don't have unique mechanics, but the lore carry them away. EDIT: I had mistaken light novels as visual novels.
They really should have kept it small like their original vision. It seriously stuck closer to a horror element, from the music that played when the Neighbor saw you to the small environment you had to avoid him in. All the ridiculous gimics and huge environments really killed it all.
Yeah. I got so bored watching Hello Neighbor that I watched my favorite TH-camrs play other games. It’s not all that fun searching for ten keys and a combination to open one door in a five story building with a weird fricking train on it.
I think they should have went in between myself, big enough to fit some game and minor lore elements, not complicated enough to be annoying and small enough the AI works.
One thing that pisses me off about hello neighbor mainly in act 3 is i don't think they went far ENOUGH with it i mean its supposed to be a fucked up borderline lsd trip of a level so why the fuck NOT go completely crazy with it? go full scooby doo hallway mode make theodore able to teleport to close to you to force you to stay on your toes and bring back the old music that was only brought back for the end of act 1 which honestly was the best part of hello neighbor in my opinion just the final chase in act 1 the music itself really gives a stress inducing vibe like "holy fucking shit i need to run like hell or i will die" kind of vibes
Whats even worse about the ending: It was fanmade! No one talks about this but towards the final beta fans were able to submit endings to the website and people could vote on it.
@@ContextuallyDeContextualized sorry if I seem suspicious to you I've been round longer than 2020 but my original account got hacked so its fine if you don't find me trustworthy
Hell Markiplier just straight up stopped playing the game while it was in the final Alpha stages, to this day he has never played the completed version.
I'm midway through Jack's gameplay now, currently he says he's enjoying it and wants to see what comes next. I can't wait to see his disappointment in the last episode 😅
Hello Neighbor had a good concept. And a shit ton of potential. I was actually a fan of it back in 2017 because at the time it wasn’t as bad as it is today. I basically forgot about it eventually and I didn’t know it later flopped. It’s really sad how they messed up the entire game which resulted in bad ai, a shit ton of bugs, an absolutely atrocious story and ending, terrible physics, terrible gameplay etc. Not to mention, HOW IN THE FUCK DO YOU STEP ON A TRASH CAN LID AND FLY INTO OUTER SPACE
Didnt he literally make a video on hello neighbors fall already? Idk man kinda feel like this man desperate for views like has anyone ever been told not to kick down a dead horse?
they could have made the game better by: fixing the bugs, making a list that tell's you what you need to do and what do you need to find, making it less hard, making a house for every level that will explain the story of the Neighbor so it would be more fun, man this game have so much potential Edit: dame 4000 likes?! Thanks guys as a man who work on an indie horror game this realy give me hope that my ideas for a video game are good
Those are good ideas, another suggestion would be to give people the option to choose the map from small to large, at least people who much preferred the small houses would be happy and the few who like the big ones
The talk about physics reminds me of the video where CaptainSauce spent 2 hours trying to stack boxes to get on the train in Alpha 1. He made such a good theory video after Alpha 2, which was supported by all the version until the final release when the game removed certain things (like the picture of the protagonist and the neighbor) as if just to say that nobody predicted the story.
I remember watching that video lmao, it was painful to watch as he would get so close and then there would be that one box to defy the laws of physics and just destroy everything. The fact that it didn't get a whole lot better, even after the full release is just the nail in the coffin. I mean yes it improved but it was never a thing we wanted to do because of how infuriating it was. He did make a good theory video, I had my own theories which were pretty flashed out but the developers wanted so bad for it to be difficult to figure out and twisted and a money maker...like FNAF and that just made it an absolute shit show that made no sense
The most interesting theory in Alpha 2 that caption sauce was talking about is that the protagonist either got killed by the neighbor or maybe he went completely missing and the new protagonist Nicky Roth can't seem to find him so he has to take the Pre-alpha man's place.
The developers of Hello Neighbor really focused too much into making it into a 'TH-cam playthrough' game. You can have fun watching someone else struggle through the puzzles, but to try and play it yourself feels like a chore. In addition this game is the shining example of a game focused on child-friendly youtuber hype-driven marketing gone wrong. A pitiful display of what happens when someone lacks the game design knowledge to make it work, yet still is determined to build a product based on taking the seemingly massive audience of young teenagers addicted to the intrigue and mystery of games like FNaF, Doki Doki, and even FNF. And a worse example of what happens when someone takes it way too far, and out of desperation for clout, neglects what the end product should have always been, leaving it a walking corpse that defies its own existence. A game that doesn't understand what it needs to be, or what its strengths were, other than "mysterious like Five Nights at Freddy's". This game is the Yandere Simulator of horror games. It took way longer than it had any right to, doesn't understand its strengths or weaknesses, and very intentionally rides on the hype of a constantly moving, constantly shifting subgenre of media while trying to drag it out as long as possible.
@@Andrews13channel FNAF1 was released on 8/8/14, while the final version of Hello Neighbor was released on 12/8/17, 3 full entire complete years after FNAF1. Not sure what you're going on about here.
Those who hoped for that big overhaul fix, just go play the mod "Home Alone, Neighbour?" It fixes a fuck ton of stuff and is based off the original alphas story, not the final one. Fixes a lot of bugs too The original itself was fascinating and this mod leans in on that. The confusion and all that is lifted. Sure it's not simple but it's definitely more functional. Story is slightly different too with Nick not being captured as a kid like in the official story, but it takes the mystery of the first few alphas and makes a fascinating story out of it!
the hate videos contributed to the downfall, but they wouldn't have even been created if the developers had fixed the game. basically the downfall was because the devs didnt fix the problems they needed to, the videos on the game where just informing people of how bad the problems were.
The hello neighbour Twitter constantly tweeting at matpat is one of the cringiest things I have ever seen. They realised a lot of their game required matpat to make theories on it to survive, because it couldn’t survive on its own.
Without watching his theories I always play this game it's my most favorite game the story is great and his deep meaning I know they used the same house alot but after every alpha they would add new areas and improve the graphics
Hello Neighbor's central problem was they got too greedy and started lore chasing. They wanted a BIG and MYSTERIOUS game to inspire lore and that became their main focus instead of refining the game's core concept of an AI that learned and adapted to you.
To summarize it in a sentence, the game initially had a lot of promise until the developers lost sight of why players were so interested in the game, and each subsequent update pushed the game further away from that promising start.
Lmao how do you lose sight of a basement? I dont think they forgot about the basement bud, try again. People were interested to know what was in the basement lmao and the neighbour dats it.
@@FunnyPoliceee Why are you thinking of the basement literally? they metaphorically lost sight obviously and fyi they did cause most of the alpha updates added nothing interesting to the neighbour or basement just had us more clueless and annoyed
I feel so bad for this game. I loved this game when I was younger, but know I see the flaws in this mess. I really want to see this game have a good entry with only some minor flaws, but that’s probably not going to come anytime soon. Hello neighbor 2 does look better, except for the AI…
Me too! whenever i played this game as a kid I would just focus on the objective and watch youtube videos in order to beat the game, But after looking back, i always wondered where the neighbor was. so i went to act 3 and the first thing I saw was the neighbor in the kitchen kicking boxes. After i saw that, i really hope the ai will improve in Hello neighbor 2. And if it doesn't i don't know what i will be playing today.
i also feel bad for the game too, i loved the game alot when i was younger as well, but yeah it sucks that Tiny Build focused too much on marketing and turning it more into a "generic horror game for kids" (like BATIM, FNAF Security Breach, Poppy Playtime, etc.), and yeah, there's no way for Hello Neighbor to rise again... it's surprising how years ago everyone was talking about it like with Granny, then got forgotten
I honestly miss the early Alpha and Beta versions when it was just one or two layers of the house, and that the Neighbor was more interesting and odd and would bug out all the time. It was strangely charming.
@@dmyst1 3 sucks. The house causes so many problems with the AI the darkness is unnecessary and ruins the game and the house is just too big to where its not even scary, its when the artstyle got too realistic
Has anyone had the glitch where the neighbor walks down to the end of the street and starts jumping down it. Past the barrier, gone forever. Just to test, I went to the weird room that you can clip through and it lets you teleport out of the boundaries. I tried to find him, I didn’t, but I heard his voice. Just constantly grunting as he jumped up and down in a non-existent plain of reality…
Never had that specific way but I know a setup with the gun to get him out of bounds and even manoeuvre him into the player’s house. I don’t know anything about AI or programming but I’m guessing the neighbour AI freaks out after being in an area it isn’t coded to be in and thus starts jumping, which seems to be the default action whenever the AI doesn’t know what to do and I’m assuming generates a new routine to follow which can’t happen out of bounds
Those screenshots of the devs almost begging MatPat to do a video are very curious. It reflects about how many indie games are made today: make a quirky that seems very cutesy but once you look deepers, it's about dark themes like depression or sexual abuse or some shit like that, but they don't explain too much because they're hoping fans and theory youtubers do videos that write their story for them. They can then go one of two things: 1. Try to subvert expectations and change to the complete opposite things that fans are theorizing; 2. Make their theory a reality. Many can't write a story that's theirs because they constantly keep updating the games. It gets to the point where devs don't know what the fuck they're doing and neither do the theory youtubers because when they go research about it and ask anonimously ofr theories, people answer "Don't worry - X youtuber is gonna do a theory about it." MatPat and Wendigoon already complained about these kind of stuff. Devs need to be more authentic in their story.
I remember playing this game back in 2017 and loving it. I never payed attention on how bad the ai was because I was just zoned into the game having fun. Today I decided to re visit the alphas, and the ai is so bad. I get its an alpha, but the final games ai was awful. I experienced better ai from alpha 1. With hn2 coming this December, this game looks amazing from what I've seen. The trailers show off alot, and i hope tinybuild isn't getting our hopes up and giving us a trash ai. Granny, a free mobile game, has better ai. Hn2 could be tinybuild's big money maker if they succeed..
I think the moment I first noticed negativity about the game and it's eventual downfall when I watched people like Markiplier, Dawko and 8Bit Gaming play alpha 3 and come off disappointed with the experience. It's strange that they didn't seem to take any feedback from the poor response of that alpha and kept pushing forward with the complicated house and the platforming. Both things that the game clearly couldn't handle and things players didn't like. With the sequel they're at least being more reasonable with multiple normal houses to break into but they still want parkour with their broken physics.
Hello Neighbor kind of feels like a small scale fnaf security breach. Both had really interesting settings and concepts but were bogged down by bugs and glitches. Some of which were definitely caused by developers trying to make the game bigger than it could handle. As a nosy mf-er myself, I really liked the ideas behind Hello Neighbor and I hope someone will be inspired and make a fun game with the concept
@@User-km9ip depends on the glitch really, seeing textures wrong, characters not looking right, can ruin a moment but is no big deal now having to jump on stacked boxes which randomly jump to narnia - leaving you to re-stack them 5x in a row, some jumping mechanics occasionally not working, is another whole thing im gonna guess that complaints about glitches are about big issues not small ones, after all skyrim is a famous buggy mess, but people still love it anyway
@@User-km9ip the game cost like $30 or something on launch and went through 4 alphas so it shouldn't really be that janky, but i think most people would've been fine if the some of the glitches didn't make you lose progress. also most of the criticism seems to be about the gameplay and story
Actually, I recently checked in on Hello Neighbor 2 and it actually looks pretty good. They are doing less on secret lore and more on gameplay now with not obsurde and random puzzles with more obvious clues. I’m starting to get my hopes up and wether that’s a good thing or not remains to be seen…
I remember there was a glitch in the full release, where if you place a bear trap near the basement door, you can phase through it. Truly a game breaking glitch.
To simply put it: the final game felt janky and unpolished and the attempt to add more content made the game feel even worse than in Alpha 1 or 2. So somehow the Alphas felt more polished than the final game.
When it comes to the lore and story of Hello Neighbor, I personally think the books gave it justice. I used to be a big fan of the game so naturally I read the book series a while back, I ended up preferring it more than the actual game since it made more sense and actually gave the characters depth and morals. In the game I personally think different components of the story are way too scattered all over the place and like many people in the comments have stated, it’s trying too hard to create deep and detailed lore. As much as I love the visual style of the game, it’s true that the bugs and coding should be attended to instead of worrying so much about story. I think the books did a better job of telling the story but that’s from personal opinion, and everyone has the right to their own opinion if they disagree with mine.
@@blooddiamonds9948 I may be biased since I still have love for the book series, but personally I recommend reading it! I actually never had a chance to read the last 3 books due to being busy at the time and never coming back to it so I’m unsure of if they got worse or maybe better. But the books really do present the characters of Hello Neighbor like characters and not just AI in a confusing world setting. The books made me see the neighbor(his name is actually Theodore Masters Peterson) as an actual human being with hopes and dreams. Something I think the game failed to do other than making him seem like a grumpy psychotic man. The books really take you through the story of what happened in greater detail and how Theodore met his downfall and became the crazy neighbor on the opposite side of the street that we know now.
It may be very buggy, and not the best of a game, however, I’m glad that it was so popular, because this game alone basically shaped my entire childhood and introduced me to some TH-camrs that I’ve now been watching since 2016
I remember when this game first came out, it seemed pretty cool. As it went on and more videos came out, I never knew what the hell was going on and gamers had to watch others and get tips to find out how to progress in the game. Like needing to jump on a specific ledge through a specific window that no one would know unless they spent time jumping on everything to find out. The ending was trash by the way. "It was all a dream!" 😐
@@garrynewman6211 on the countrary really, with a smaller space they'd have to be more creative, use it better, while also being considerably easier to make something good thats why some sandbox games arent that great, a lot of open unpolished, and why in some cases being linear would've made them better - the smaller the scope, the better it can be, you can have a lot of meh or a little of great, its rare to get both together
I loved this game when I was younger because of DanTDM. I bought books and merch and would only talk about Hello Neighbor. Over the years, I've realised just how infuriating and bad the later games actually were. I feel so bad for all of our favourite childhood TH-camrs who were bombarded with comments asking to play these games. I wish it had been better and more enjoyable for the players.
I still remember my favorite Indonesian TH-camr used to play this and thought this is the best game ever. Even when he's playing alpha 2-4, the full version, the Hide and Seek dlc, Secret Neighbor and the new one, Hello Neighbor 2, never once in my life I heard him said the game was bad. It was kinda sad that the game that he growing up with this whole time, was the worst game out there. I will never forget those precious times whenever he uploads any Hello Neighbor video, I will always hyped up because I love the game and his gameplay. Ironically enough I think maybe the reason why Hello Neighbor is my favorite game back then was probably Because of his interactive gameplay. That guy is MiawAug. I grow up watching his videos for i think 5 years now? Yeah back when Hello Neighbor was a hype. Yeah good times... ..good times...
one thing that the prototype, alpha 1 and alpha 2 did is that it felt claustrophobic. you were always limited to where you can run to if you were being chased
The game sucked, but I enjoyed the books based on it. It's a similar story, just a little different and more interesting/better organized than the game. The first game makes me worry about how the second one will be, but the demo seems pretty alright!
@@opo3628 not everyone plus it true the books are great and make the games have some sense to them but then again I respect your opinion but I have to disagree
@koizumi basically Nicky (you) has a creepy neighbor that is really territorial of his house which leads you to be sus on him especially when you hear a death scream coming from his basement with boards and locks covering it so you decide to break into his house and try to figure out what in his basement
Lmao Scott Cawthorne be like: “I make a horror game, he makes a horror game. I write books based on my games, he writes books based on his games. I go on to make several successful sequels, he fails. Hahaha”
Here is one thing that Hello Neighbor actually taught me. When making a game, focus on the main antagonist. Add the lore as a side note. This is true of any game. Five Nights at Freddy’s focuses on the animatronics. You only get glimpses of lore through phone guy. Undertale focuses on Asgore as the big baddie you have to defeat, while also hinting at other bosses you will have to fight, such as Papyrus, Undyne, and Mettaton. Bendy and the Ink Machine, while having similar problems to Hello Neighbor, was not as terrible, in my opinion, because they kept the main focus on Bendy, and to a lesser, but still significant degree, Boris and Alice. Friday Nights Funkin’ succeeds while offering a twist: focus on Girlfriend, not the antagonist. Think of a really good game, and see if you can find who or what the central force is located around, and you will see that the game still stays fun, no matter how convoluted their lore is. That actually makes it even more fun to figure out what the lore is because the game is fun and the lore is actually obscure.
Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but wasn't Tiny Build a later factor? Like, the early concept was indie, and then Tiny Build picked them up later? I even remember it being weird that some of the secrets that you could find in the later builds talked about changing the Neighbor's code or something like that. People would go out of bounds and find a bunch of stuff outside the scope of the game like a full on town with secrets scattered everywhere... which was cool at the time, but really showed where their priorities were switching. At the time people had A LOT more fun going outside the game than inside, since the main game was just annoying. In hindsight, the fact they put a lot more detail on the outside world for out of bounds breakers was just them loudly banging pots and pans for theories without caring about the actual game.
It never ever happened to me that items didnt spawn despite the dozens of times i replayed this game. For the lockpick, its very possible u mindlessly used the magnet resulting in it falling off the shelf
I think it's sad to be seeing Hello Neighbor getting so much hate. It's understandable why, and I think I'd be on the same boat if it wasn't a big part of me. It inspired my art career, and that's more than anything I could ask for a little indie game to do for 10 year old me (now 14 and continuing a thriving art career). I enjoy games like Hello Neighbor, like FNaF and Baldi's Basics... BATIM.. and it's sad to see it going down in flames. The spinoffs they've made of the game really locked it's coffin, especially the hide and seek one.
I think the developers were rushed trying to make all the betas and alphas so there was so many bugs. One thing I don’t like is how many versions there are. It’s the same thing from alpha 3 to full release thats six versions of the endless amount of pain. Pre alpha was ok,alpha one was better, but alpha 2 is my favorite.thumbs up if u HATE hello neighbor 2
10:22 Alot of people, including this guy who posted this video, don't know that the shadow man is like a combination of Nicky's (Player's) fear or traumas. The fear of the neighbor and the trauma when the neighbor kidnapped him, and in the finale act, Nicky's mission is to protect his younger self and fight his fears and traumas in his dream. And finally at the end Nicky (Player) manages to kill the shadow man. And in the credit scene, y'all can see Nicky (Player) is happy that he moved on from his fears and traumas, and he begin to live his life happily. Despite all of the glitches, Hello Neighbor has a great and emotional story, and it will never be forgotten ❤️🩹
i never followed any of the social media stuff (since i was like 10 when the first build came out) so this game will always hold a special place with me. I remember getting home excitedly every 1st of the month (i think that’s when they released new alphas) and watching with my little brother. I really hope the sequel is good
A topic I'd personally love to see you cover would be how Geometry Dash went from a small mobile platformer game that the whole world enjoyed to a much smaller but extremely passionate and dedicated community that is constantly pushing the game to it's absolute limits
Yeah I love GD I hope he will cover this. Sad to see how most people think this is just a mere mobile game and don’t know about peoples hardest achievements in the game and it’s editor
Despite this games failings I will say the exposure to this company got me into possibly one of my favorite indie games published by them ever called Streets Of Rogue. Some good can come out of the bad at times.
they have published some pretty great games, kill it with fire and streets of rogue are amazing fun its a shame that their chance to be way more famous was destroyed, but then again maybe that was for the better
If the game was Alpha 1 then it would’ve been Game Of The Year. Here is my Review for Each version in a scale of 1-10. Pre-Alpha: It is just a test demo and seemed to hard. You lose your items when you get caught which I don’t really like and you can’t even find the code without guessing which lead to hours of grinding trying to find the code. As it is the classic version then I am going to go 6. Alpha 1: I loved the design for the house and the map. There are lots of secrets and many ways to get the key to escape. Like the child’s room with the key and the teddy bear roomer. Remembering all the theories going on is so nostalgic. I am going to go an 8. Alpha 2: This is one of many peoples favourite alphas and I love the idea of console commands! The way to escape is really cool and changing into ghost mode so you can see the secrets in the big basement is cool. The new textures added is not the same as the full game but it is making progress. I’m going to rate this a 7. Alpha 3: This is the worst alpha in the game it is stupid that the game is set in night. No day-night cycle. You can’t see at all and you have to go to the neighbours house to get a flashlight. The game is really hard and it is really buggy. I’m going to go for a 3. Alpha 4: I love the idea for the way to escape and the ability ideas. The parkour section to unlock double jump is terrible as Hello Neighbour is not the type of game for parkour. It’s frustrating as Tiny Build never said anything about getting abilities to escape so all these content creators ended up think they escaped but didn’t as they had no idea how to do the parkour. I’m going to for a 6. Full Game: This is pretty much all the Alpha houses redesigned and made and mashed up into acts. The amount of bugs in the game is ridiculous and the bit where you need to save yourself as a child is just weird and hard. The storyline is what kept people from staying and wanting to play it leaving a disappointment for the amount of people hoping to find the true secrets. I’m going to go for an 8.
Honestly, I would just like to see TinyBuild come out with brand new games completely separate from the Hello Neighbor franchise. Honestly, I would also like to see them remake the 1st Hello Neighbor from scratch except this time, keep things simple, don’t go crazy with the house size, keep the focus on the neighbor and his AI, don’t become obsessed with the lore of the game. Edit: I know TinyBuild has/is coming out with other games. I made that part of my comment kinda offhandedly/without thinking - but I was also referring to the fact I would like to see them come out with a game/franchise that blows up like Hello Neighbor did - even though that’s unrealistic - cause I don’t get excited when Tiny Build comes out with a new Hello Neighbor entry. Usually, the concept/the graphics are strong, but the Hello Neighbor titles just fall apart after that and TinyBuild just shoves the game(s) out the door. Then people completely forget about said Hello Neighbor titles after a week or two.
Nice! Was watching some of your Bendy and the Dark Revival videos when this was uploaded. I liked the concept of Hello, Neighbor but I didn’t like the platforming and random things put in. I wish the A.I. and the graphics were better.
I came here after seeing all the comments about the balance dev from this game being the same as Helldivers 2. You said one line that is exactly what everyone is saying about HD2’s balance updates - making it more difficult by making it unfun.
@@just_inker2584 not suprised, hes hated by a ton of people and him milking the same topic 24/7 god knows how many times is just hilarious yet some people still say that his content is amazing and unique, and then proceed to say that his (biased)opinions are so totally true.
I absolutely loved this game. Not because of the story, but because of the amount of funny things you could do. That includes the bugs too. I just found it entertaining at the time, to watch and to play as well. Sure it was annoying at times, and it made me wanna quit, but in the end it was a great game (for me) I like puzzles, probably that's why.
This game had potential, I remember really being amazed by the game's mechanics and how the devs made the game. But ever since Tinybuild gotten their hands on the game, the charm just disappeared.. it makes me worry for Hello Puppets, Hello Puppets is another charming horror game and they had announce a prequel called “Hello Puppets: Midnight Show". Which, if I remember correctly, I think Tinybuild is helping with that game.. which again, I'm worried that that game will bomb too
i was hooked when they released the reveal trailer way back in the day, a thief like game were the difficulty is based around a ai enemy that learns and adapts with you over time was a concept i really found interesting and appealing
i lowkey have no clue what you’re talking about. I’ve always LOVED hello neighbor, every part of it. never thought it was unreasonably hard, loved and laughed at the bugs (like the neighbor getting stuck) loved the bigger act 3 house, actually way more than the smaller ones. and when you get high up enough in the house and the neighbor can’t reach you, that’s a good thing. the game is hard, (not UNREASONABLY hard,) so having the neighbor not be able to reach you is amazing. the high amounts of parkour you have to do in act 3 is fun, it shouldn’t come across as annoying. the storyline is top tier, especially when you actually pay attention to and piece together all the cutscenes throughout the game. i never actually had to deal with certain objects needed not appearing/spawning in the game, this video was my first time hearing about that. the only thing i really agree with on this video is that the physics of this game do suck, but other than that idk why so many people are crapping on this game.
They should've stuck with the concept and alpha 1 instead of becoming some bootleg pixar style game, because that was scary. Imagine blocking a door to escape the neighbour only to realise you've trapped yourself in a room with only a small window to escape but nah we got stacking boxes for 2 hours
I wish Act 1 was only based on solving puzzles to get into the basement, while the neighbor chases you, and Act 2 exploring the basement and making it more like a horror, twisted reality with some fantasy in it. Meanwhile, the Neighbor chases you, but they’re more warped and uncanny, that’s just my thoughts on it
Ah this is really too bad... I haven't kept up with HN the last few years, but I remember the early versions were really cool and I loved watching people play it and listening to the theories. It's sad to hear that it ended up not being what it was expected to be :(
After the first Alpha the only good game was the Hello Guest Prototype it was scarier and you actually saw the main antagonist and it doesn’t look like a cartoon.
Really stinks to hear about how Hello Neighbor really feel from grace from what you've told us. It makes both BATIM and FNAF Security's reputations feel more respectful in comparison. Not really sure if the sequel if it does come out will end up changing course from it's current status.
i actually just finished hello neighbour and as my opinion i loved like act 3 and all acts in general and i dont really know why ppl hate it it was really fun with the neighbour sneaking on us and like those neightmares that i got stuck on and had to watch on yt it was a really good experience fr
If they rebuilt the neighbors AI around a much better designed Alpha 3 mega house, the game would be way way better. Also, more clear puzzles and better physics could make the game way more fun, sneaking your way through a cross-street neighbor's house that feels straight out of a fever dream with the end goal of unlocking the basement door. Unfortunately, they didn't care enough about the actual quality of the game by that point to change the crucial flaws.
I wasn't really that invested in the game, compared to fnaf and batim and other indie games. I just liked the fansongs that JT Machinima and DAGames made. Game fansongs are a genre of music that I just really like.
It’s extremely sad what happened to this game. I feel like one of the main problems with the second game (despite it only being the beta) is how they changed the game so abruptly. It lost its sort of goofy feeling with comically large cradles and houses to a gritty animated detective game. It feels like it took a PG rated film and upped it to PG-13 by the sequel (if that makes any sense.) I played the beta of the new game recently and it really bored me. This new game seems like the only goal is to find the missing kids without much story. It seems like TinyBuild and Dynamic Pixels have made the story rather glib. As if they know the story they are trying to write for this game, but don’t know how to do it like they used to. I personally liked the funkiness of the first game, but that is just my opinion. I’m just sad that a game with this much potential just sort of flopped. I feel like it’s kind of like what happened to,”Among Us” where the developers just took way too long to update the game. I hope that hello neighbor comes back; along with the hello neighbor community just like there was in 2017-2019. I love the lore of the game and how they convey it to the player, however it seems as if they are really trying to push it with the lore part of the game. I hope that the developers fix the neighbor’s (hopefully) formerly terrible AI so the game is still a good puzzle/strategy game while incorporating more challenging/interesting bits with the neighbor. I really hope that they incorporate more Easter eggs into the game. I.e: the golden apple Easter egg. Just some small more interactive Easter eggs. I really hope that this game doesn’t end up like FNAFSB (Five Nights At Freddy’s: Security Breach.) For those who might not have played FNAFSB or watched FNAFSB vids, the game was seriously hyped up, which led to a somewhat early release, leading the game to be extremely buggy and just ultimately hard to play. It’s just so buggy that I couldn’t even play on the,”Princess Quest” machine without bugging out. For people who don’t know, Princess Quest is a game that can lead you to a different ending of the story, making it a pretty fundamental part of the story/game. I kind of phrased this badly and might of had some errors as I just typed this up quickly, so I apologize if that’s displeasing. Please respectfully comment your thoughts because I’m pretty curious on other peoples’ view point on this.
i really think the game would of been better if they kept it small like the alpha's with just a cutscene of walking down the basement steps as the ending, to keep it up to interpretation.
I beat this game with my friend without a walkthrough and we had a lot of fun trying to figure things out. A lot of our solutions were unintentional box staking, but it was fun to break the game. It took us hours to solve some puzzles though. (We never found the red record player, so we boxed up to the top of the wind turbine.)
Aw man, I want to return times, when everyone theorise what will be in the 5th chapter BATIM, fnaf wasn't overloaded with lore and Hello Neighbor, which was good and dont run for money.
Hello Neighbor still is my favorite horror puzzle game, but I think we all need to admit that the best version of the game is the Alpha 1, for me, it still is the most hello neighbor themed alpha of the game. After Alpha 3, everything became cartoony and fun. But Pre-Alpha to Alpha 1, the game feels stressful and unnerving. In Alpha 1, the graphisms are divine, the AI is learning from your movements and scary af ! And finally, the puzzle is just perfect. To open the door, you need a hammer and a key, to get the hammer, you have one in his garage and one in his bedroom, which is lovely because it leaves a lot of possibilities to the player because if he guards one place you can go to another one. And for the key, you can get it after entering the tomstone room, and after destroying the brick wall to get to the baby room and take the key in the bed. Since it is Alpha 1, the key can disappear and glitch out of the room. But what is really nice, is that there is a lockpick in the surveillance room. The game is just beautiful, plus, we have a lot of tools and we can always use different objects to escape which makes the game customizable and fluid for player's fun. Overall, if you think about it, it's the best version of Hello Neighbor even though it is extremely stressful and creepy. In recent versions, you have to parkour just to get a crowbar and a key card, when the game used to be perfect with a mining thing, hammers, lockpicks, shotguns, shovels and keys, Design : 10/10 - AI : 8/10 - Musics : 6.5/10 - Tools : 9/10. Alpha 1, 2 and Pre-Alpha, they just hit different, the cartoon alphas and betas are just good mood, it's no horror game. Still, I love hello neighbor so much I'd play it in real life with cousins and stuff. I think tinyBuilds did a really good job with showcasing and presentating this horror game, thanks for reading !
Now, at least for me, whenever I try to do the shopping cart minigame, it just bugs at and all the stuff inside gets launched out and you actually need the abilities in order to beat the game, so this glitch makes the game impossible to beat and it's been around for about a year now for me
I actually bought myself a copy of Hello Neighbor to play on my Series X. I managed to beat the first two acts but not without a guide for the basement and all of act 2. I barely even got into act 3 before deciding to move on. Despite that, I didn’t find myself hating the game. Just being confused and a little annoyed. The story behind Hello Neighbor is actually intriguing enough for me to one day play the prequel Hello Neighbor Hide and Seek, but I still don’t like nearly as much as I do Fnaf and even Bendy’s story. Hello Neighbor may be hated on, but so far, I don’t think it’s as bad as people make it out to be. After all, I had a little fun with acts 1 and 2 despite needing the guides. One thing’s for sure though. The ONLY way that Dynamic Pixels can get people to stop hating is to make sure that Hello Neighbor 2 is at the very least good. It needs to be so polished you can see your reflection in it, not have the puzzles be convoluted, have an interesting enough story, and above all else, BE FUN TO PLAY. Unless it resembles anything like that, history will repeat itself, and Hello Neighbor might actually die.
This game was so hard I gave up. There's no way to really know where to go or how to do some things unless you look up a tutorial on TH-cam. They also didn't give players a learning period, tutorial to introduce you to the game. No maps, no way to distract the neighbor.
I didn't knew that this game was hated until I watched matpats video. I remember I saw this game and just gave it a tiny bit of support since I'm not a fan of it and liked how my sister enjoys it and the concept is interesting..... Welp now I see it as nothing but trash real damn quick in 1.0 seconds lol
I dont even know why, but i have always loved everything about hello neighbor. though there are bugs, I feel like when i played the game i didnt experience nearly as much as other people did. And though I agree with stuff like the physics and AI being terrible, that to me makes it fun because its hilarious. So i'm always gonna stick around in the series, and ill always play whatever comes out. Even if it is garbage I'll love it anyway
I remember buying all the books at the scholastic book fair every year. I had both the Hide & Seek and original version but the lore got so weird, a 10 year old me thought it was dumb. I don’t think I ever actually finished the OG game because I disliked it.

Yes exactly
Yeah I actually found it scary back then
Exactly
Whats even worse about the ending:
It was fanmade! No one talks about this but towards the final beta fans were able to submit endings to the website and people could vote on it.
Never knew that.

I think the only thing stopping Cap from tearing into the game even more was the fact he got a bottle of ketchup
The most interesting theory in Alpha 2 that caption sauce was talking about is that the protagonist either got killed by the neighbor or maybe he went completely missing and the new protagonist Nicky Roth can't seem to find him so he has to take the Pre-alpha man's place.
@@bubblegum8467 Alpha 1 is good actually

In an alternate universe, the versions for this game are released in opposite order and everybody says "wow, each version gets better and better!"
If someone showed me the game in reverse order, I would believe it - even in this very same universe.

FNAF is going the same path as Hello Neighbor in my opinion :/ fnaf sb is not even scary
@@PHILZAHOLIC yep. It’s lost its original charms. Like, “who am I supposed to be afraid of?”
An annoying part of the final product was that you could drop a key item and softlock your game if it didn't respawn unless you found it.
I remember how popular this was. You couldn't go on youtube without seeing it
It never ever happened to me that items didnt spawn despite the dozens of times i replayed this game. For the lockpick, its very possible u mindlessly used the magnet resulting in it falling off the shelf
agreed
They put more efforts to ruin the game than most AAA companies would. That's a sort of dedication one can't describe, and it's called being a dirtbag.
I remember a lot of little kids liking this game then everyone stopped talking about it over night.
If I’m not mistaken the whole premise of Hello Neighbor is about overcoming trauma, but it could’ve been delivered more clearly.
i never followed any of the social media stuff (since i was like 10 when the first build came out) so this game will always hold a special place with me.
I also found out about streets of rogue from tinybuild publishing this game and I can’t wait for streets of rogue 2
they have published some pretty great games, kill it with fire and streets of rogue are amazing fun
its a shame that their chance to be way more famous was destroyed, but then again maybe that was for the better
If the game was Alpha 1 then it would’ve been Game Of The Year.
Here is my Review for Each version in a scale of 1-10.
Pre-Alpha:
It is just a test demo and seemed to hard. You lose your items when you get caught which I don’t really like and you can’t even find the code without guessing which lead to hours of grinding trying to find the code. As it is the classic version then I am going to go 6.
Alpha 1:
I loved the design for the house and the map. There are lots of secrets and many ways to get the key to escape. Like the child’s room with the key and the teddy bear roomer. Remembering all the theories going on is so nostalgic. I am going to go an 8.
Alpha 2:
This is one of many peoples favourite alphas and I love the idea of console commands! The way to escape is really cool and changing into ghost mode so you can see the secrets in the big basement is cool. The new textures added is not the same as the full game but it is making progress. I’m going to rate this a 7.
Alpha 3:
This is the worst alpha in the game it is stupid that the game is set in night. No day-night cycle. You can’t see at all and you have to go to the neighbours house to get a flashlight. The game is really hard and it is really buggy. I’m going to go for a 3.
Alpha 4:
I love the idea for the way to escape and the ability ideas.
Full Game:
This is pretty much all the Alpha houses redesigned and made and mashed up into acts. The amount of bugs in the game is ridiculous and the bit where you need to save yourself as a child is just weird and hard. The storyline is what kept people from staying and wanting to play it leaving a disappointment for the amount of people hoping to find the true secrets. I’m going to go for an 8.
Actually I give pre-alpha an 9 for good a.i and Alpha 2 an 9 for realistic graphic and a 4 for horror stuff.
an 8/10 for the final version, Jesus...
I know I'm late, but you can find the code in pre-alpha on a wall behind a painting on the left side hallway of the house.
Then people completely forget about said Hello Neighbor titles after a week or two.
they have published many other games lately outside HN, but i don't think they develop any. Eerie Guest works on Hello Neighbor
@@Gavintheking2 Huh. I’ll have to check out their other stuff.
Exactly what I always thought, why not just remake hello neighbor? It saves their reputation and smaller houses even cost less time to make!
@@Gavintheking2 What about no time to explain? That's literally their logo. Not sure thoug
what about "kill it with fire"

@@noteg3078 i definitely agree with you.
@@noteg3078 it's hilarious this channel is already dying 😂
@@just_inker2584 not suprised, hes hated by a ton of people and him milking the same topic 24/7 god knows how many times is just hilarious yet some people still say that his content is amazing and unique, and then proceed to say that his (biased)opinions are so totally true.
@@noteg3078 those are naive kids, what can I say
Which, if I remember correctly, I think Tinybuild is helping with that game.. which again, I'm worried that that game will bomb too
game: is cool
Popular TH-camrs: that's my cue
this is literally the 5th video youve made on the same thing, just with different titles
I remember trying to defend Hello Neighbor a lot before but these days I just can't, it's a broken mess.
i was hooked when they released the reveal trailer way back in the day, a thief like game were the difficulty is based around a ai enemy that learns and adapts with you over time was a concept i really found interesting and appealing
"The neighbor gets stuck a lot"
The neighbor: What are you doing step-bro?
The game was really good until it wasn't
i lowkey have no clue what you’re talking about.
Game is bad, buggy, confusing, ugly. All the power to you for loving it, but your personal opinion doesn't mean jack when it comes to facts.
I feel like the developers didn't have a plan for what was in the basement and had to make something up last minute
Meanwhile, the Neighbor chases you, but they’re more warped and uncanny, that’s just my thoughts on it
"Fan hated" I LOVE THIS HOUSE
Same thing. I love such gigantic explorable zones, like this house lol
Whos grace tho
No it dosen't
W h a t.
i actually just finished hello neighbour and as my opinion i loved like act 3 and all acts in general and i dont really know why ppl hate it it was really fun with the neighbour sneaking on us and like those neightmares that i got stuck on and had to watch on yt it was a really good experience fr
I actually love the game, me and my friend really enjoy Hello Neighbour 2 because it involves loads of puzzles and we love solving puzzles lol
Now they'll just be the company that got ghosted on twitter by Matt patt
i really think the game would of been better if they kept it small like the alpha's with just a cutscene of walking down the basement steps as the ending, to keep it up to interpretation.
Hello Neighbor be like: “Time to turn this Horror Puzzle game into a Puzzle game with a small bit of “Horror”
I wish the best for this game i really do. It has the amazing potential it’s unique and I can’t find game with this concept
I agree with you completely. I hope that in the second part the developers took into account all the mistakes and will not allow them
mos people who have played the beta of the sequel said they didn't encounter too many bugs and that it was fun to play
@@Naviglio That's a good sign, but it is just a beta. Here's hoping that the full release at least resembles quality.
Yeah there's a lot of houses and I remember this
I dont even know why, but i have always loved everything about hello neighbor. though there are bugs, I feel like when i played the game i didnt experience nearly as much as other people did. And though I agree with stuff like the physics and AI being terrible, that to me makes it fun because its hilarious. So i'm always gonna stick around in the series, and ill always play whatever comes out. Even if it is garbage I'll love it anyway
I have the same opinion
same
8:54 ah yes wallmart. Thanks to fgeetv I still call him Mart
I think it’s really funny how everyone just pretend like hello neighbor never happened
I remember buying all the books at the scholastic book fair every year. I had both the Hide & Seek and original version but the lore got so weird, a 10 year old me thought it was dumb. I don’t think I ever actually finished the OG game because I disliked it.
Ong I’m not taking bros opinion at this point, 9 year old me was able to figure out these puzzles 💀
Sounds like you were in the target demographic for this game.
