    wow i road that trail two years ago and it was a blast. i started at the private camp ground near the old iron bridge. Lots of rain that spring and Solon Mt was full of water and the fire road was a creek for about a mile... so cool.
    Rock slides had covered trail in sections and added to techy fun.Down hill was a workout and a blast.
    Overlook was very cool.Met son folks from Brevard NC - great riders ad we hung out for a few at the overlook and i tried to keep up on the down hill toward the river and they dropped me about halfway down.
    I'll go back for sure. I'm a Va boy(60) as well : )

    Best video yet! Keep up the good work. Like how you really explain where you are and the trails you rode. It gives us a "todo" list.

      Shannon, I’ll try to keep this style going strong. Very grateful for the feedback, it means a lot, seriously. The bike park stuff has been heavy lately, but trail rides are the most special for us.

    I miss the fort valley part of the GW forest. Night ride at Elizabeth Furnace anyone? Living in Moab now.

    Nice video man! But I do wish the picture quality was better in order to see the details of the trail. I'm a fellow Virginian and deff want to take a trip to check out this trail, thanks for showing it to us!

      Hey Alex! Yeah, 1080p GoPro & TH-cam don't play nice together. My recent videos, and those going forward, are all 4k and look great on a 4k display/browser. Sadly the older videos on this channel can't be easily updated. Good news though, there will be plenty more from VA available in high resolution this coming year and into the future!
      Cheers

    This climb looks much more relaxed than climbing up Hankey. Will have to give this route up a go next time we ride Lookout mtn! Lookout is awesome definitely one of the best descents in the GW!

      Not sure, but I think it's longer than hankey. It's definitely very mellow though!

    Beautiful opening aerials of the exquisite terrain!
    Great ride, excellent video (even if blocky at times), and perfect music as usual!

    Hey you say at the beginning it's a 25 mile trail but the mtbprojects link shows 13.5 miles. I may head to the area for this trail so how long is it actually? Perhaps you can share your Strava activity? Thanks for the vid, nice riding!

    • @SemiSendy
      @SemiSendy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey John, thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it! I was talking about the Wild Oak trail in whole (which 25mi was just if my old memory serves me correct). I was at one of the many trailheads for that specific trail and mentioned we would just be riding a part of it for this particular ride. This loop is 13.5 miles. Go check it out, it's one of the best!

    Does the coil rub and if it does is it enough to worry about? Also what weight spring do you run?

    • @SemiSendy
      @SemiSendy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it rubs considerably under deflection, sadly. Maybe through just a layer of the lay-up, but in a 15mmish oval. #500 sls spring, which has the smallest outer diameter I could find.

    Hey I am a Virginia Rider and enjoying your channel. I have a question on flats vs clipless. Do you ride all of your rides in flats. I have been riding a long time and all of it clipped in. I want to try flats because I hear it will help make me a better rider. I am just wondering if people that ride flats do trail rides in flats or just DH and shuttle runs. Thanks,

    • @SemiSendy
      @SemiSendy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey John, stoked you like the channel! I actually ride mostly with clipless, but put the flats on from time to time when I'm teaching, honing skills or just want something easier to put a foot out with during leaf surfing season.
      I'm a big proponent of using flats to teach and learn skills with. They force proper technique for some crucial skills, especially ones like bunny hopping and wheel lifts.
      Hope that helps!

      Been in flats the last few years, mostly I'm an Trail recreational rider. Big spiky flats on a 29er hardtail. Shin guards are must. Headed to Stokesville for only the second time ever next week. Been over 10 years at least since climbing Little Bald knob and descending Wild Oak. Definitely will be slower on the rocky DH on my setup, heels and seat dropped. It will not be easy. Thinking Narrowback over Lookout Mtn because this looks tough.

    This looks awesome. Heading out there in a couple of weeks with my wife and our son. I think we will try to imitate the loop you did. How many miles? And what mapping app were you using? Thanks for the cool video!

    • @SemiSendy
      @SemiSendy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Matt, I just used MTBProject for the map. It's a 13.5 mile loop and much of the climbing is road/forest road and about 1,600' of elevation. Here is a link to the map I used: www.mtbproject.com/trail/3770932/lookout-mountain-loop
