I have a similar situation I need your advice on. I’m wanting to add a vanity to a back to back bathroom but the drain isn’t coming through the floor. It’s feeding into the stack that’s about 5ft to the left.
Hi greg, am planning on do a back to back toilet and was initially happy to hear you say a double fixture with vent in center could work, but you would later say a 45 deg double wye would not work and might create a siphoning action. Can you explain how a double fixture does not have the same problem?
Gray water to gray water on a double sanitary tee I don't see how you will ever have an issue unless if both are pump discharged or a toilet. A cleanout above will solve the issue of snaking. With my commercial washing machine pumping and utility sink draining a tub full of water at the same time there are no issues. The only thing I wonder about is if the double sanitary tee causes more suds, but it's a common problem with old school commercial washing machines pumping very hard that don't skimp on water. In Florida there's an exception for double sanitary tee if the horizontal length is 18" on each fixture. Even then if it is to code I'd be cautious about mixing waste water types unless if you add a backflow preventer which is a moving part that will eventually fail.

Hello Greg, I live in a different country and we do our plumbing basically "without" codes. Do you think it's ok to learn this from you?
If you don't have any codes, then I would try to understand why plumbers in the USA do what they do, because there are some things I don't agree with.

Yes, but be careful, I've talked to plumbers who don't use them because some building departments don't allow them.
