This misinformation is stemming from a TikTok siting Sephora as donating to the Trump campaign. In fact, LVMH has been sited as donating majorly to the democrats according to opensecrets.org. And let’s all please look into things before we blindly believe everything we see. Unfortunately, that’s exactly how we got where we are now in this country.

Cate, I’ve said this to you in private but I will say it publicly as well. Your courage and commitment to women’s rights and the LGBTQ community is something I greatly admire. In situations such as this I think of the quote by Elie Wiesel, “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented”. I will always choose the side that encourages empathy and compassion.

I am an Australian watching in complete disbelief and horror the implosion of the USA, and the biggest fear is that unfortunately the hatred, misogyny and racism is like a cancer that’s spreading. I am a very well educated women who lives in a blue state that right now is tinging purple. I am the mother of gay children, and I feel paralyzed.....how am I going to be able to protect them and basically humanity against the tyranny of our country going forward? The misinformation that exists is frightening. The suppression and elimination of our rights is terrorizing. Your channel is not as small or insignificant as it may seem. I figured my state would stay red as unfortunately I reside in his home base…but the fact that both abortion protection 1:46 AND decriminalized marijuana both lost it’s just so so disgusting and disheartening! I’m so frightened for the next generation of women as my uterus is already out to pasture (I’m 54). How is it that so many white women, black men AND women and Hispanics across the board are so disillusioned just baffles me. We need to speak louder and prouder than ever! I am first generation born American Gen-X and I am appalled at my Hispanic people. I voted for my son, for my family, for HUMANITY. And yes...while I am an American born here, I am proud to be of Hispanic heritage BUT yet.... apparently so many selfish (even racist of their own) people are only thinking about themselves AND proved that so many (Hispanic) men are living in this MACHISMO world! Getting used to speaking out politically is still tough for me. Having this platform really helps. No matter how I feel personally about abortion, I will NEVER and have NEVER taken away a woman’s right to choose. It is their body and their choice. The fact that Americans elected a convicted felon, rapist, misogynist (the list goes on and on), and for what? The promise of cheaper groceries? This idiot has no understanding of economics. How many times has he filed for bankruptcy? I’m truly heartbroken for our country as they have no idea what they’ve unleashed!

I so appreciate you and I cannot find the right words to adequately express this to you. I'm frustrated with other creators as well. They refer to "it being a bad week" or something else without specifying what they are talking about but we all know. I guess that's their choice/their channel (Ironic words). In their comments are a lot of the Karens going after other commenters who are more direct with their pain. They are emboldened indeed and to see the other open commentors go unprotected is gross. I'm not sure what my own next steps are. Also, I agree that social media has a huge impact. A lot of the pundits finally are acknowledging that power - would have been nice for them to say that a few months ago.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for always being an advocate despite the consequences - consequences that I’m sure were significantly financial but more than that having to go through the emotional abuse it took to make this a truly safe place for your audience. Having seen only a fraction of that myself, I don’t know that I would’ve survived it. You not only never gave up but Have expanded your outreach and helped more people than you will ever know. I also really appreciate the creators list because I am personally having an absolutely awful time clicking on and paying attention to videos that are beauty only. I get that there’s a time and a place for that. There has to be. But I am not there yet. I am not at a place where I can handle hearing a review from someone who is acting like it’s business as usual. I came across someone IRL yesterday that when asked what they thought would happen to actual friends of theirs in marginalized communities, they with a straight face looked at me and said nothing. I had brunch with my adult daughter and a mutual friend. I adore these women. Inevitably the conversation was on reproductive rights. They are both stoping with one child. Both have small daughters Both husbands are having vasectomies. My daughter and her husband are relocating in the next few years because Virginia is not reliably blue. I have had so many young women reach out, looking for me to help them feel better and I don’t know how. I just don’t. Except I listen and never diminish their fears. Thank you Cate. This. All of this. The basic humanity of women sold to the lowest denominator for lower prices, for a plan that will deliver only higher prices. I feel so de-valued. But also that most people are quite stupid, apparently. I do not like thinking that way, but the evidence is very strongly in favor - it’s so disheartening/devastating.
At 72 after fighting for civil rights, women’s rights and against Vietnam Nam, my heart is broken that democracy was sold for a loaf of bread! Many of the Booktubers I follow have spoken out but reading is a political act in my opinion. My dog has been a godsend as well.

I was heartbroken and I am Canadian. I am concerned that this emboldens Pierre Polievre who would send all women back to the home and take away the rights of women, LGBTQ folks and POC. I read The Handmaid's Tale when Reagan was your president and I was chilled then but even more frightened now. Unfortunately I life in a rednecked province as do my grandchildren who are in the province next door. I am a therapist and when T Rump was elected last time I had clients who were victims of sexual assault crying in my office as they felt so vulnerable, again.

I so appreciate you and I cannot find the right words to adequately express this to you. I'm frustrated with other creators as well. They refer to "it being a bad week" or something else without specifying what they are talking about but we all know. I guess that's their choice/their channel (Ironic words). In their comments are a lot of the Karens going after other commenters who are more direct with their pain. They are emboldened indeed and to see the other open commentors go unprotected is gross. I'm not sure what my own next steps are.
Also, I agree that social media has a huge impact. A lot of the pundits finally are acknowledging that power - would have been nice for them to say that a few months ago.

I also really appreciate the creators list because I am personally having an absolutely awful time clicking on and paying attention to videos that are beauty only. I get that there’s a time and a place for that. There has to be. But I am not there yet. I am not at a place where I can handle hearing a review from someone who is acting like it’s business as usual.
I came across someone IRL yesterday that when asked what they thought would happen to actual friends of theirs in marginalized communities, they with a straight face looked at me and said nothing. They’ll be fine. Somebody who doesn’t even pretend to care about the economy, but they literally just don’t believe the things that these people straight out, said that they were gonna do…. it’s really hard living in a world where it’s not just the callousness the selfishness and the hate but the divorce from reality itself. I feel like I’m walking towards a cliff with a blindfold on already, but like it’s truly so much worse than my actual nightmares.

I had brunch with my adult daughter and a mutual friend. I adore these women. Inevitably the conversation was on reproductive rights. They are both stoping with one child. Both have small daughters Both husbands are having vasectomies. My daughter and her husband are relocating in the next few years because Virginia is not reliably blue. I have had so many young women reach out, looking for me to help them feel better and I don’t know how. I just don’t. Except I listen and never diminish their fears. Thank you Cate. But also that most people are quite stupid, apparently. I do not like thinking that way, but the evidence is very strongly in favor - it’s so disheartening/devastating.

At 72 after fighting for civil rights, women’s rights and against Vietnam Nam, my heart is broken that democracy was sold for a loaf of bread! Many of the Booktubers I follow have spoken out but reading is a political act in my opinion. My dog has been a godsend as well.

Yes. Opensecrets.org. If you’re referring to Sephora, the info about them donating to Trump is false. I (and my cohort Chase) looked into this and there is zero record of Sephora or their parent company LVMH making donations to Trump. This misinformation is stemming from a TikTok siting Sephora as donating to the Trump campaign, when in reality there are zero record of this. In fact, LVMH has been sited as donating majorly to the democrats according to opensecrets.org. Please see my Instagram stories for more content backing this up. And let’s all please look into things before blindly believing everything we see.

I was heartbroken and I am Canadian. I am concerned that this emboldens Pierre Polievre who would send all women back to the home and take away the rights of women, LGBTQ folks and POC. I read The Handmaid's Tale when Reagan was your president and I was chilled then but even more frightened now. Unfortunately I life in a rednecked province as do my grandchildren who are in the province next door. I am a therapist and when T Rump was elected last time I had clients who were victims of sexual assault crying in my office as they felt so vulnerable, again.
I totally agree with you about The Handmaid’s Tale. Freaked me out so much that it took me awhile to get a debit card. I heard Margaret Atwood (author) interviewed and she said she based the book on history 🤯, so we all need to be vigilant no matter where you live.
