Thanks for the input!
It's like a legend speaking 😀One can tell by listening to your teachings about all the experience and klowledge and years of "hand-on" working on such cars you have Robert. Thanks for the tips once again.🙏
I really appreciate all the support
@petar443 !!!
I'm relieved that my car didn't have a lot of alignment problems. Pretty much everything on it is bad but your videos are taking me through them. My car's roof had a bunch of small dents on the top rear of the drivers side. These were caused by my late step-father lifting metal 5 gallon gas can up there so he could siphon gas into it. Just life on the farm. Thanks for all your help.
Yes Sir, if you have any questions leave them in the comment section, I would be happy to help.
I've been binging your channel man. I recently bought my dream car, a 57 Nomad. It's absolutely hammered and needs everything, which I was aware of when I purchased it since I want to build it my own way and not a stock restoration. Even still, it needs floors, quarters, inner and outer rockers, the works. I'm no stranger to metal fab and body work but I've never taken a project of this scope on and it's hard to figure where to begin. Your videos help bring some clarity to the process. Thanks again for posting all of this
Rotisserie, Media blast, PPG DP 90 epoxy primer, mount onto frame fixture, that's my starting formula. A nomad, nice score !
Very informative Robert you obviously have many years of experience and I really enjoy how you explain things
Thank l you Sir !!!
LETS GOOOOOOO
THE 61 video is here !!!!
Good stuff Robert you are a badass
This video was for you !
Thanks for taking the time to help people like me, I am starting my first project 1982 camaro. I appreciate the solid advise!
Yes Sir ! good luck on your project !
Been waiting anxiously for videos about the 61. I too am restoring a 61 and its been quite a challenge. Wish I had known some of this before I started, but I was too excited when I bought the car and didn't think things through.
It will work out, those cars are ALWAYS a challenge due to lack of parts availability. One step at a time....
Thanks for the tips, I’ll be following this order when I do my Blazer soon hopefully.
Thanks ! If you have any questions, leave them in the comments.
I never thought of some of those, excellent tips! You always come through 👍
It's all about learning... I learn everyday, happy to pass it on.
Wow! Lots of awesome information 👍👍👍
Thank you for supporting the channel !
Very valuable, honest information , Much appreciated.
Thank you Sir !
What was presented in this episode is priceless and skill personified...Much has been presented to be absorbed by those learning...Thank you for sharing and you are appreciated...God bless you Sir
@@JustinPaul1stThat is a very generous comment !!! Thank you 😊
Nice breakdown on how to approach a project! Looking forward to seeing how you do the rear quarters on this car. as far as I know, replacement quarters aren't available for pre 62 Impala/Bel Air/Biscayne. Figure you'll be putting that English wheel to work!
Thanks, I'll be piecing this one together....
Thanks for a great video Robert, very informative. Keep up the great work whilst I continue learning. Thanks mate.🤙🤙🤙
Welcome to the family !
Excellent video!! I've been to the school of hard knocks a few times. I understand exactly what you're showing here. Thanks a million!
Bill
Very welcome!
Love those era of cars, I've overlooked damage being too focused on rust repairs...current charger had significant collision damage in front of the drivers side rear wheel. As you said it just adds to the time and cost..
Thanks again for sharing your experience!
@michiganracer1181 Yes Sir, thanks for your input ! In the playlist, I have a charger restoration metal to paint.

Thank you for all the knowledge on your videos
Thank you Sir !
Hey good general advice, except for the comment about “investments”.
These are not, repeat not, “investments “.
They are play toys, nothing more. You never get your time and labor back from home grown restorations. But it’s much much better than boats or golfing.
There are 2 types of investments 1. Invest money and expect a return or appreciation
2. " investing " as in you are spending time and money.....
A person is absolutely going to spend time and money in a project and you must be mindful of that and it is very important to know what the project will require in time and money.....
You are thinking 1. Investing and I am pointing out 2. Investing.......anyone thinking they are turning a profit buying and restoring classic cars has already set themselves up for a rude awakening. Thanks for watching.
@@guzzifabrication3448 I had a friend of mine tell me he’d settle for a quick nickel than a slow dime. If ANYONE thinks they will get all the investment out of a street rod? Then i guess they can sell ice cream to an Eskimo! I’m in my Apache for around 25k. I can get 45k for it, but I’ll never recoup any of the labor and materials, spent!!!
Hey Robert thank you for everything man you're the best! As pickups are becoming more popular restorations maybe an episode on this? Do you find AMD or Dynacorn replacement panels better?
@@appliedprecision probably amd, I have the 55 gmc restomod LS swap in the shop
Nice video
Thank you Mr. Johansson !
Love your channel. Just found & sub'd! My '66 Impala SS is now begging for your attention :)
Welcome to the family !! Appreciate the sub !
at the 18.56 to 19.00 mark you should "remove the damage" do you mean cut out that long driver side-swipe dent? Or by "remove" do you mean repair that dent? IF you you mean cut out the dent is there a situation you would ever repair a dent and not cut it out? Thanks for help
Great question, all metal repair should be done before cutting anything.
👍👍
Thanks !!!
I also like to look down the side at about a 20 degree angle. What I'm looking for is the gap line to be flush and parallel. Even brand new expensive cars the gaps will appear to disappear or go out of flush.
Stand 20 to 30 feet away at a 15 to 20 degree angle and look down the side.
If the panel edges have close to perfect edge to edge contours and the lines are parallel. Then you are on the right track. Sorry I'm one of those anal guys.😁
You obviously have a body fixture, but what if you received a car like that and had no mounts to work off of? Bolt a replacement floor to frame? And work from there?
stanchions off of the firewall, behind the door area, and rear body mount ( attach supports so the body doesn't sag where ever is possible ) line up the doors , fenders, deck lid, install floor.
🙌🙌🙌🙌
I appreciate you brother !
So had a tractor trailer vortexed me right in to a solid stone wall yesterday. Insurance will repair the truck!!
In the Apache ?
@@guzzifabrication3448 Yup!!
@@guzzifabrication3448 yup!
@@guzzifabrication3448 Yes Sir!!
@@guzzifabrication3448 I keep answering and I keep getting censored!
Vin and id tags. Why do you not drill the rivets ? DMV has ZERO way to detect removal and replacement
You mean besides the fact that it's a federal offence.....
@@guzzifabrication3448 since I had to a cab swap on my 72 chevy k20, the cab didn't come with tag or title
I highly doubt I am in the Feds crossbars. Mopars have a frame stamping to match the VIN. I am quite sure Mark Worman does tag swaps
Obviously you have to steer away from the tags as you do it as a professional and you are sharp mentioning the duct tape. You sure don't need the state dmv popping in and cease your great videos
@@mikedeblanco9186 👍👍
Also don't buy a car in the rain
You ain't kidding.....
Hoods can be very misleading due to the fact chances are when your dealing with a 60+ yo car the hood has been off at some point. Also the doors can be misleading as well due to worn out bushings and pins.
Then your suggestion for a quick assessment is ?
@@guzzifabrication3448 my suggestion is plain and simple don't do a quick assessment. If your looking to invest in the classic car hobby take your time and make sure you know what your getting yourself into. If your not sure try and find you somebody who actually knows what there looking at.
You sound like a know it all A hole, this guy has put out a ton of content, where are your videos?? Id watch this channel before I would watch yours.....
