Anytone is the manufacture. At certain order thresholds, Anytone will package and brand the radio to your needs. I could order several hundred of them from Anytone, brand them as Bert's Radio BR-806666 Pro and put them on the market, all using the FCC certifications that Anytone has already received since there are no changes to the radio internally.
I’m good for repeaters, but I feel like having a smaller band is actually advantageous for them even though they may not know it. There’s often not a ton going on in 10 meter, and it’s hard to scan such a wide frequency range on the cheaper 10 meter radios, so I think squeezing everyone together lets people actually find contacts.
@@jeremyjohnson6023 It’s considerably more work though for some, and I know personally when I went through tech I insisted on getting the most out of my license before I upgraded. I think maybe having repeater freqs at least would let them participate more before putting their time and money into going further.
Great radio ! That is also the anytone AT 6666 PRO. Their is PC programming. You can set voltage protect and SWR protect and the value for that . The mic jack has a audio out pin and you can set that level in a menu. this is for like a speaker mick of a Heil cummacation headset with a mic. Then you pick. VOX of Foot switch for PTT . You also cam make a cable from the nic jack to a DiGiRig or sound card to PC for digital modes. Like SSTV/FT8 ETC. so many to pick from. just software on PC. Just keep power down on digital modes. like 50% or less. watch temp on heat sink. You can have voltage on display so when doing POTA with LiFePO4 you can see battery voltage. Their is RX filters in menu. I have the QT 60 AKA Anytone AT 5555N II . I do FT8 and SSTV with it. 12 meters as well. just 60 watt and not 80 . That meter you are using not a TRUE PEP meter. that why power reading off a bit on SSB. If Dummy load has 1:1 SWR than its fine. 10/12 meters been poor. Solar storm. Don had to give that report on Ham Nation. back to eary spring I did POTA with QT 60 and end fed half wave and did very well ! both 10 and 12 meters SSB and FT8 contacts. @@HamRadioN0CKL I agree with Josh that Technicians should have greater access to 10-meter as a way to dip their toe into HF before getting General. How much can they really abuse 10-meter “HF” anyway? Any more than truckers with 200-watt splatterboxes on 11-meters already do? Besides, saying 10 meters is vacant is like that joke about how a restaurant is too busy so “nobody goes there anymore”.
Right now 10 meters is as lively as it will be for ten years. I put a tech on ten a year ago and his first five contacts were All European DX. Of course go general, but many don’t and they have a brief window to experience something great.
As someone who obtained their technician and general license at the same time a year ago (thanks for recommending that path, Josh), I think we shouldn't dissuade someone from getting licensed just because they're not ready to jump right to General. I have seen a lot of activity on 10 meters on the portion on which Technicians have privileges over the past year and I can see how that could encourage a Technician to advance to General. Keeping as many paths open as possible is the best way to encourage people to get into the hobby.

@@NebulaHatesWatchdog just an issue with the old AT-6666. Agree, 20 meters would be great! But then an antenna tuner is required. It's already gonna be needed for 15 meters and probably 12 meters as well.
