A someone who owned a food business for 16 years, I can attest that the Kirkland brand is the absolute best. It costs about the same as the Reynold's brand, but you get 50 percent more and, it's thicker. I still buy it for home use.
Press n Seal is a different animal. It can make its own pockets to contain food and other items. Also, it’s great for crafts, especially card making. Check out how useful it is there.
I keep another box of it in my work shop so I can use it as a conformal paint mask before spray painting a complex project. It clings with no residue; it can be cut with a fine utility knife and prevent paint bleed under. It stand up well to the hottest lacquer paints.
A few years ago I was in a Home Health Care store buying parts for my dads wheelchair. While browsing around I found and purchased a removable cling film cutter which could be transferred from one box to another. Very much like the Freeze Tite winner, but portable to a new box of cling film. It was around $5 and worth it.
The amazing thing is, I use this suran wrap more in my workshop than kitchen for holding bar stock together, paint masking, dust protection and packaging. Always keep two boxes of suran wrap handy in the shop.
I've had plenty of bunch up with zip cutters. They can be fussy about how much tension you need to put on the sheet. Perhaps they loose effectiveness with repeated us? I don't think I like one less than a tear strip, but I haven't found myself liking them any more.
I find them all difficult to work with, sticking to itself very easily. I recently bought the Reynolds brand on sale and it wasn't very sticky but it was thick, the sliding cutter is very bad on that because the wrap is wider than the track of the cutter. The best I've used so far is the Walmart great value 300sqft product. It's very sticky and the sliding cutter on that works flawlessly.
They didn't even talk about the most important part of a cling wrap. Does it cling to itself unnecessarily when you're trying to use it. And does it actually clean properly to the bowl without bunching up. Nothing more frustrating than tearing off a piece of cling wrap and then have it cling to itself before you get it to the Bowl. Who cares how it tears off of the box if it doesn't cling properly.

I bought a Stretch-Tite beige storage/cutter combo from Costco a few years ago that cuts clean through from pressing down on the lid. Best solution I've ever used.
What was the runner up? Not everyone has access to Costco. I like the Reynolds plastic wrap as it seems to work best for me, both cutting it and usages.
I have used freeze-time for several years & hope to never be without it! I buy the 315 square ft box & always find it for under $8 from various sources online! A few months ago I ordered from Farm Fleet. Some Amazon sellers were gouging big time! I wrap all kinds of stuff in it & the put in my food savers bags & vacuum them. I KNOW, too much plastic. 🙄But I can keep stuff in my freezer practically forever. Even items like bread that I can't vacuum will last months in the freeze time & then a hefty freezer bag. Also cookies, muffins, etc. I also use stretch tite which of course is cheaper for other items.
I really like and have used Stretch Tite plastic wrap for years. It's worth the extra money as compared to other common brands. I seldom need anything 15 inches wide and have never seen Freeze Tite. Is it made by the same manufacturer at Stretch Tite?
I dunno where you got your prices from. The winning option is a lot more expensive than you're claiming. You linked to 500 square feet for $40. That's $12.50 per 100 square feet. At Walmart (available online only) it's $16.79 for 315 square feet. That's $5.33 per 100 square feet. And you've really got to ask yourself: what are you using this stuff for? Is paying 4-10x more for the winning option necessary for what you're using it for?
You might want to check your math. $40 for 500 square feet works out to be $8 per hundred. On top of that, the price is for 500 linear feet which is 630 square feet (because it is 15” wide) so closer to $6.30 per 100 square feet.
Toolman93 Use the link provided (to Amazon). The cost is 4 times what the video says it is. Four. YOU do the math. (And pay attention to what the BOX says, not the Amazon description.
jack tracy, I just RE-checked the Amazon link and the video, and my math is still correct. The video says “$4.19 per 100 square feet” and Amazon says $39.97 for 2 rolls of 250 ft at 15” wide. $6.30/100 sq ft is about 1.5 times as expensive - definitely not 4 times. BTW, that video was filmed in June 2018 (ATK is re-releasing lots of older stuff because of Covid) so a price hike is not unusual, especially for Amazon who is getting more and more expensive compared to local prices.
I've never heard of Freeze Tite. I rarely buy plastic wrap but after working in catering I can attest that food service wrap is better than any brand I've ever bought at the grocery store.
I used to think that. But the rolls are so large and heavy that they can be hard to find storage space for, and awkward to use. I've gone to having small grocery sized rolls in my drawers for those times when I just need a single to small sheet to wrap a leftover or something.

About thickness: he did not mean 0.68 mm, he meant 0.68 mils. A mil is a thousandth of an inch. The equivalent of .68 mils is about .017 mm, which is a huge difference to .68 mm. Same with the other measurements (0.5 mils instead of .6 mm).
I noticed that the Glad "Press n Seal would lose its its adhesive over time. It worked well at first. I didn't use it much, but after about a year it just wouldn't stick to anything.
Your winning brand in not in any stores in the mid-west and on line with shipping it was $40 maybe cost is not important at the test kitchen but it is in mine
I've been using the plastic wrap I get at restaurant supply stores. Cost is cheaper the size is better than others and the quality is good. Besides how many people will reuse plastic wrap 10 friggen times over and over again? To pound the chicken to an even thickness I use a zip lock bag it is thicker and more durable. But most of the time I just pound it out on the cutting board.
at 5:25 .68mm??? I think you mean .68mils. a mil is 1/1000 or an inch. a mm is 1/1000 of a meter. 130ft of Saran Wrap a half a mm thick wrapped around a 1.75in tube would probably end up being between 5 and 10 inches in diameter.
Going out on a limb and predict the most expensive is the "best". Let's watch and find out! DING DING DING! We have a winner! And wowsa, it's the most expensive! Who'da thunk? It's OK, I'll stick with the roll from Dollar Tree. Seriously, it's just plastic wrap.

@@AnneMariePace well it all started when I was a kid really... there I was walking down the street in the glaring hot sun, heat waves rising off the road blurring the horizon, I hadn’t had a drink of water in days...
@@AnneMariePace well I found this cling wrap with the slightest puddle of water in it, bear in mind, The wind hadn’t blown in days! As I reached down to carefully grab the wrap, a breeze whipped up & because the cling wrap was of really crappy quality it didn’t stick to the road... all of the water fell out onto the street and the wrap danced off into the horizon while I stood there watching a dark circle of liquid shrink into oblivion as it steamed into a gaseous state on that steaming 🥵 road, I dropped to my knees unable to cry for lack of tears... 😫
I caught that too. Plastic sheet is typically measured in mil. A typical sheet of copy paper is 0.1 millimeters thick. Stack up six sheets of paper to get an idea of 0.6 millimeters. That would be some heavy-duty plastic wrap.
SmellyCat go to Google and enter “1 Mil = “ no quotes. The first thing you will see is 1 Mil = 1/1000 of an inch. I measure things precisely for a living.
Although I use plastic wrap, I do cringe that I'm using more plastic! So I tend to reuse them to cut waste. After all, it's mostly used to simply cover bowls so they generally remain free of food particles.
Single use plastic needs to be banned. It's bad for contact with food because of plasticizers that are added which are hormone disrupters, and bad for the environment because it's not biodegradable. There are other options, like waxed paper, washable covers made with cloth and beeswax, and you can buy glass containers with lids.
You have to wash those things after every use, so the water and any detergent you use, cancels out some of the benefit to the environment. It's like that with reusable straws too. It might be a slight benefit to wash and reuse, but I think it's pretty negligible. Corporations need to become more responsible and make straws, wraps, etc. biodegradable. It isn't feasible to solve environmental pollution and packed landfills on the consumer end. It has to be done at the corporate and industrial level. If every single individual gave up all non-biodegradable products and recycled everything, it would only account for 1% of landfill use. In other words, big industry and big corporation are filling our landfills and polluting our water/air at a rate of 99 to one. Consumers can't fix that problem. It will have to be done via legislation to regulate industrial amd corporate waste, and fines for not complying.
It was to test plastic wrap. Why would they test it and then say 'BTW, don't buy plastic wrap' at the end? Everyone can't affird silicone lids and they don't stretch over edges for an air tight seal ir wrap around things. Edited for spell check corrections

Great Value Walmart thank me later. Avoided it for years, but was soo sick of Reynolds boxes collapsing or the cutters failing. GV is strong. Well packaged and works! 🤗
Original Saran Wrap completely sealed in odors. It really worked. Unfortunately they decided that one of the components might not be safe for food. Instead of doing extensive studies to check its safety they just changed the formula.
Yes, original Saran Wrap was the best !!! When they discontinued it, I scoured stores for their existing stock and bought it all up, even looking in small stores while vacationing in other states (found it!). I ended up with 36 boxes. Have been using it sparingly for years now and still have about 8 boxes left. It absolutely sealed air out and food lasted much, much longer than the plastic wraps now. Even using 2 layers of the new stuff doesn't do a good job. Remember the Saran Wrap ad with the bear and the fruit pie wrapped in Saran -- the bear could not smell the pie and did not eat it !
Unfortunately Amazon has become a fairly safe haven for price gougers these days, by making it so difficult to report them. Because of that you can also find a six pack of disinfecting wipes for $180(that would normally cost $15 to $20) there, too. I wouldn't look to Amazon anymore to find fair prices.
@@charlenecastaldo3602 I never buy anything from Amazon. Never have.. abuse to the workers is a problem and secondly trying to make the third party harder to sell.. And then they charge so much because of Amazon Prime? Yeah, it not a good market place.
I’m not sure the hair extensions are working on Julia. Actually they look fine from the front, but they need to blend better to look real from the sides and back. Maybe add more fullness w/ loose waves?
Because those of us at a certain age remember tin foil. It’s now a misnomer like many other products. Examples are Kleenex for tissues, Channel Locks for tongue and groove pliers, Xerox for a photocopy and Saran Wrap for most types of plastic wrap. Besides, tin foil is easier to say than aluminum foil. Two syllables instead of five.
I really enjoy your reviews, do you ever consider making eco impact/friendly/recyclable as part of your reviews. Sometimes it’s difficult to actually know which I think best alternative options. I have tried to change the foil (UK) Aluminum foil (USA) to a more sustainable and eco kinder brand, but in reality i had to use twice as much to get the thickness so it didn’t rip to my usual brand so was not sure in the end if my choice was the best. Many thanks, Debra.
EXCEPT - you ignored the chemistry of PPE wraps that is 80X more permeable to O2, 5x to water vapor - compared to the PVC formula of commercial grades.
Disappointed that you never mentioned the change in Saran wrap that led to the change in its clinging ability. Whatever the truth is about PDVC, none of the wraps are anywhere near what they were in the past and it should have been addressed.
Press and Seal is a huge fail for me. The whole roll got screwed up because it wouldn’t pull out. The idea of this wrap is genius because of what it will stick to such as plastic. The delivery system however is really flawed.
Notice: A top tier volume supermarket, based out of Cinn, OH uses their unknown wrap on craft cheeses; they all had an off-taste of petro chemicals that leached into cheeses they cut and wrap with. I had to cut 1/8" -1/5" off sides to get the real untainted cheese; such waste of ones $$ to do this. Be aware. Test for yourselves. One here will inform them of this; see what happens. If there is no adjustment for the consumer, will drop the supermarket getting craft cheese.
Interesting, I routinely pick up craft cheeses at a Plains regional chain owned by the unnamed supermarket company. I expect store practices are the same, so the regional chain is most likely using the unknown wrap as well. In my experience, I have not noticed any off-taste in general nor petro-chemical taste in particular to the wrapped cheeses I have eaten. Perhaps the off flavor you are finding is coming from something else?

You mean like you reuse the sheet you cut over and over? I don't think that would be viable. And you can't really wash this stuff, but even if you could, you would be using excess water, which would cancel out most of the benefit of reusable wrap. Plus it probably wouldn't be sanitary to reuse it, especially if it was used to wrap chicken, etc.
Plastic wrap definitely has it's place in the kitchen but, I am trying to use less and less of it all the time. How about a video on plastic wrap alternatives (rubber/silicon/cloth bowl covers, bee's wax cloth, ect....). More ECO FRIENDLY options😉. Thanks

To pound the chicken to an even thickness I use a zip lock bag it is thicker and more durable. But most of the time I just pound it out on the cutting board.
Freeze-Tite Premium Plastic Freezer Wrap - 250 ft - 2 Pack
Brand: Freeze-Tite
4.6 out of 5 stars 57 ratings
Price: $38.57
at 5:25 .68mm???
I think you mean .68mils. a mil is 1/1000 or an inch. a mm is 1/1000 of a meter.
130ft of Saran Wrap a half a mm thick wrapped around a 1.75in tube would probably end up being between 5 and 10 inches in diameter.
Costco's STRETCH-TITE is perfect for me!
What was the adhesive they used to use that they stopped using because it was carcinogenic?
I didn't realize how many experts there are on plastic wrap until I read these comments.
Going out on a limb and predict the most expensive is the "best". Let's watch and find out!
DING DING DING! We have a winner! And wowsa, it's the most expensive! Who'da thunk?
It's OK, I'll stick with the roll from Dollar Tree. Seriously, it's just plastic wrap.
if dollar tree wrap was on amazon, it too would be the most expensive.
It’s all a rip off anyway!
You guys should have mentioned how PVC isn't safe to heat with food in close contact.
Important aspect to consider when shopping for plastic wraps.
Loving you new hair.
Using the link provided (to Amazon) this winner cost exactly double what this video says it costs.

Time to rate Adam ........... 🤔
(never thought that would be said)
Got the thickness wrong (Mil)
Got the prices wrong.
Thought Adam would be a Cast Iron pot, not a cheap Skillet. 😁
Still love ya though. 😀
I'm trying to avoid plastic wrap because Plastic, but I still watched. #pandemicbrain
@@OGRH Wow, this is really important to you. Please continue. Happy to listen.
@@AnneMariePace well it all started when I was a kid really... there I was walking down the street in the glaring hot sun, heat waves rising off the road blurring the horizon, I hadn’t had a drink of water in days...
@@OGRH What did you do next? I hope some kind soul found you something to quench your thirst.
@@AnneMariePace .... “NOOOOOOO!!”, I wailed, as my knees met the searing pavement...
I doubt it was 0.6 millimeters thick, it was most likely 0.6 mil (thousands of an inch).
I caught that too. Plastic sheet is typically measured in mil. A typical sheet of copy paper is 0.1 millimeters thick. Stack up six sheets of paper to get an idea of 0.6 millimeters. That would be some heavy-duty plastic wrap.
I mil is not 1 millimeter, it is 1/1000 inch.
SmellyCat go to Google and enter “1 Mil = “ no quotes. The first thing you will see is 1 Mil = 1/1000 of an inch. I measure things precisely for a living.
What are the runner ups in case local store doesn't have number one?
Yeah what was the runner-up
I live in LA, can’t find that brand anywhere.
Are you kidding me? $38.04 for 500'?? You can get Zipsafe Sealwrap at 2000' for $11.99 (has the slide to cut thing too).
And where do I buy this plastic wrap?
Although I use plastic wrap, I do cringe that I'm using more plastic! So I tend to reuse them to cut waste. After all, it's mostly used to simply cover bowls so they generally remain free of food particles.
Cling Plus has a different function. It doesn’t melt in the microwave.
I have never bought a role of plastic wrap that cuts right!
The link for Amazon lists the price at $38.57. Yikes! No wonder it's the best.
Ok, these are $15 a roll on Amazon.... Obviously these the pre-Covid prices before the price gouging!!!
Start using silicon covers!
Missed opportunity to urge ppl to minimize plastic use
It was to test plastic wrap.
Why would they test it and then say 'BTW, don't buy plastic wrap' at the end?
Everyone can't affird silicone lids and they don't stretch over edges for an air tight seal ir wrap around things.
Edited for spell check corrections

What good is a top rated product . . . . that you can’t find. Walmart indicated they sold it, but not locally (Freeze-tite plastic wrap). There was no 2nd place winner??
Its awesome how they feign lighthearted interest in plastic wrap. I wonder how many takes they needed?
I don't know... I have a lighthearted interest in plastic wrap. Why wouldn't they?

Steve Varholy - Not all boomers are like that shortsighted, selfish person. I’m in my 60s and drastically minimized our household’s use of disposables and plastics 40 years ago. We also use only non-toxic, natural, and biodegradable cleaners; no pesticides indoors or out; and support organic growers. I’ve also spent a lot of time volunteering on environmental projects in my community. I want my kids and grandkids to have a chance at a decent life; if we don’t make *lots* of big and small changes, that may not be possible for long.
Environmental stewardship is *everyone’s* responsibility. It shouldn’t be a political issue, neither should public health be one. And yet . . . 🙄
Great Value Walmart thank me later. Avoided it for years, but was soo sick of Reynolds boxes collapsing or the cutters failing. GV is strong. Well packaged and works! 🤗
This came out weeks ago! Why does it have a Sep 4, 2020 date on it like it's new?
Rerun?
That's the date it was published? You can't backdate an upload.
I bought SARAN,and it doesn't stik much well. I have to try different, may be kirkland or so.
Thanks for the review. Clicked on the link and Amazon wants $38 for this wrap. I will pass
Walmart one with a slider works great
I have that one and it’s probably the worst plastic wrap on the market
I’m not sure the hair extensions are working on Julia. Actually they look fine from the front, but they need to blend better to look real from the sides and back. Maybe add more fullness w/ loose waves?
Very informative video. Thanks. Can anybody explain why so many “chefs” keep saying TIN FOIL when it is actually aluminum foil?
Because those of us at a certain age remember tin foil. It’s now a misnomer like many other products. Examples are Kleenex for tissues, Channel Locks for tongue and groove pliers, Xerox for a photocopy and Saran Wrap for most types of plastic wrap. Besides, tin foil is easier to say than aluminum foil. Two syllables instead of five.
So stretch tite is the Costco brand and manufactured by freezetite, so Costco is the way to go here.
Please review alternatives to single use plastic.
When I pound raw chicken breasts, I put them inside a gallon zip freezer bag before pounding.
ODD ... Amazon says its $19.00 a roll Not $ and change
EXCEPT - you ignored the chemistry of PPE wraps that is 80X more permeable to O2, 5x to water vapor - compared to the PVC formula of commercial grades.
He said they were 0.5-0.7 mm thick. I'm pretty sure he meant mils, not mm.
Never buying press and seal because of the cutter.
Plastic wrap is not eco-friendly. Try using the beeswax covers. They may not hold as well, but how often do you turn things upside down?
good point.

I will say as a professional cook: the slide cutter thing is annoying as hell
Pretty sure those measurements are mils, and not millimeters.
I would guess the thickness is closer to 0.05 mm, not 0.5 mm.
No best buy choice? Something cheaper that preformed good.
probably should get some reusable one to cut down on plastic waste.
No matter what you say the Stretch Tight from Costco is the best. I usually agree with your reviews but you are off base with this one.
They need to tests the best NONE plastic wrap ... it's killing us ...
You should have disclosed that your winner is made by the same Manufacturer as the Stretch Tite you did not name as a winner.
Plastic wrap definitely has it's place in the kitchen but, I am trying to use less and less of it all the time. How about a video on plastic wrap alternatives (rubber/silicon/cloth bowl covers, bee's wax cloth, ect....). More ECO FRIENDLY options😉. Thanks
But set of plastic bowls with lids they last forever and are reusable......but even that is not acceptable to the eco freaks it's either their way or no way!
I guess they all worked the same in the microwave!
