this is just brilliant. . brings back happy childhood memories of falling asleep at night on the back seat while wind screen wipers hypnotised me to sleep... thank u so much brad
this is the greatest white noise video ever, my 4 month old baby falls asleep in 10-15 min. and sleeps very nice when this video is on,she is sleeping right now actually, i have no words to thank you enough!
Thank you so much. The inspiration was simply sitting in the passenger seat while on a 4 hour car trip in the rain. I simply could not keep my eyes open!
This takes me back to when I fell asleep in the backseat as my dad drove us home in the rain. Never felt so safe in my entire life! Thank u for hrlping me to remember this sound AND feeling!! ❤
I've had trouble sleeping for a long time now, I decided to try this because why not, I was asleep in minutes and slept all night without waking up once. I'm very impressed, and I highly suggest it.
Thanks so much. I have dealt with insomnia myself for decades and have realized that visualizing helps me fall asleep. It turns out that when we visualize we are using the same area of the human brain as when we dream. This is the basic idea behind all my recordings.
This one is so nostalgic for me... When I was a child, I frequently rode up to my aunt & uncle's on the weekend. They lived near San Francisco, CA... always raining there. I recall clear as day: dozing in the car, stirring slightly whenever we made a sharp turn, the sleepy, gray light hanging over the road and hypnotic rain tapping against the window... put me out like a light then, and still works now. Thank you for this one, Mr. McBride :)
Reminds me of when I'd go to florida as a kid. It was a pretty long drive from TN to there, and with minimal breaks. I'd fall asleep so quickly to the hum of the car and the radio playing some old 70-80s tunes.
Why is this so calming? It reminds me of the time I was trapped in the car for a few hours in Texas during a major rain storm that included an F-5 tornado barreling by. Then hail the size of golf balls banging on the roof..Then a flash flood...ad nauseum..:D Thank you for the memories, BMcB
This is so awesome!!! I get tinnitus from my sinuses alot and the ringing in my ears makes it hard to get to sleep but I put this on and it drowns it right out and I just imagine myself on a long road trip and pass right out. Thank you so much!!
This is brilliant! I can never stay awake in a car (when not driving that is) in a rain storm. No matter how much coffee I drink or my best intentions, off to sleep I go.. thank you so much I would never have thought of this.
Great video... have to agree with all the comments about the soothing windshield wipers. Hopefully we can get a longer version of this video? Thanks for all that you do.
I have nocturnal epilepsy so it is hard for me to fall asleep knowing what might come. This allows me to calm down and eventually sleep. You help a lot of people, I hope it gives you satisfaction. You deserve it.
Thank you for this! My niece's son, 3 months old, does not sleep easily, but in a car. They have tried vacuum cleaner and hair dryer, isn't that pleasant, but this! 5 minutes and he was asleep. Sleeping right now next to my computer.
thank you so much! I previously owned a small recording studio and been involved in audio for a long time. These sounds are all available on my website (at higher fidelity, too!). Having tinnitus in both my ears makes it is more then my profession... its my obsession ;:^)
I've said this to you many times thanks for the sleep music it really helps me sleep with all the stress going on in my life. you sir are a god send and a good sport.
Thanks so much. I made mental notes over the last few decades on sounds that help me sleep.... my youtube channel and my website are a result of those observations.
Personally, I'd say it was best to stop altogether on the side safest away from traffic and sleep 40 winks, with your headphones on, listening to this recording. Gone in 60secs. A worthy recording, should be saved in the national archive.
Now, if someone would make a loop of distant cross-country radio with stations that barely come in and out, bits and pieces of old, anonymous country & western instrumentals, partial commercials for truck stops and diners or small town businesses that we never quite catch the name of, with static and that whiny old-fashioned "tuning" noise that would be fab with this to play together...
Brad McBride Well, at that point is where I would hope it would magically transition into fragmented Chet Atkins or intermittent distant snatches of that scary "Theme song from Mahogany." I am imagining this laaate at night, like 2 AM in the middle of nowhere. But in the daytime, driving through the Texas Panhandle maybe, yeah I could imagine a lot of Monster Truck ads...
Not to worry, it's all good. Most nights I listen to the other one of yours anyways Brad, the 8 hour "Rain on a Tent". Better yet I wish the stormy night one was longer than 2 hours so I could listen to the Rain on a tent and the stormy night one at the same time for 8 hours, now thats what Im talking about!!
haha... yes, there have been many times while driving long distances in the rain I have found myself nodding off. That's when I do indeed crank up the radio!
My pleasure - being an insomniac myself i have taken note over the years of sounds that put me out like a light. There's more to come so keep checking my channel
Man, if you could make this w/o the windshield wiper sounds, it'd be perfect for me. This is the only sleep vid that doesn't worsen my tinnitus, but the wipers kinda overpower it. I love what you're doing, though. Keep it up!
Liked this so much I've just bought it, partly because I believe people should be paid for their work and partly because I want it on my phone and I can't get this video on it on TH-cam for HTC haha. Just an afterthought, I was on a coach the other day traveling along the freeway at night, the lights were down, and it was so peaceful, would be great to see (well, hear) a sound clip along those lines.
I don't think I could fall asleep to this, instead of relaxing, it's more nerve wrecking. Those wipers have got to go. If your in the car it's different. I always had the window down just enough for the air to blow on my face, that was also part of the experience!
Brad McBride Hi Brad. I just wanted to say a massive thank you to you. I have just had the most stressful six months of my life, including the noisiest neighbour you can imagine, and using one of your videos basically saved me. I was that stressed and desperate for some relief that I think my subconscious was begging me to listen to something relaxing. It didn't even occur to me to think of doing this. So after searching youtube I found your videos to be the best and now use them regularly. And of course I subscribed. :-) They are such good quality and so varied, so I never get bored. Please keep doing what you're doing, because we need these! :-)
Thank you so much and I am glad they help mask those noisy neighbors!! Having had a noisy neighbor or two in my life I know where you are coming from. Hang in there!
Part of it... the audio was mixed from different sources. Some of it was taken in my Ford Ranger, some of it was mixed in to produce the sleep sound. I did not want too many sounds as it might prove to be distracting.
I believe that the brain of someone who can sleep to these sounds is already "Trained" to do so. I for example got sleepy on rain rides before so I especially searched for a Video like this to help me sleep
You should read the 'sleep thoughts' section of my website - I have had trouble falling asleep my entire adult life and I write about it extensively. Anyhoo, glad the sounds help!
its such a relaxing sound... im a really light sleeper though, and every little noise that is different to this moment has my ears pricked up like a rabbit!!! when i heard the train going, " TING..TING..TING.TING..TING.." .i was on high alert again! ( thats what comes of having raised an asthmatic child !!! always one ear awake... just in case!!! lol !!) i nice video , though,. thanks...xxx
thanks , i.ll take a look at them, however, after 25 minutes of this one, i was well and truly chilled, and i enjoyed it very much! thanks again 4 this ! xxx
Glad you like it! I put quite a few sound effects in my sounds in the beginning to set the scene. Most effects are gone by minute five and the main sound takes over
Having this playing is like a lesson - a lesson in road safety - just how soporific this sort of monotony really is. Perhaps there's some way the monotony can be overcome like mobile apps which automatically turn on the radio loud to wake them up or from, 'shaking', the seat , (or even the driving column itself), like an aircraft steering column does.
this is just brilliant. . brings back happy childhood memories of falling asleep at night on the back seat while wind screen wipers hypnotised me to sleep... thank u so much brad
I love falling asleep to the sound of rain on a car roof, it's the waking up a corn field and trying to get my car back out that's the problem
+Wordsmith Gobshite haha!
Chandler West You should subscribe to this guy, he's a master at finding sleep sounds. I think he's even recorded a few of his own.
Brad McBride itfff
The part I dislike the most are the stupid questions. "Have an accident?" "Whadja do, fall asleep?" "Are you stuck?" Sheesh.
robertkf1 I know what you mean, I get the same. Are you drunk?, how did it happen? Is your squad car ok?
Thanks... yes the cadence of windshield wipers has always been hypnotizing for me.
this is the greatest white noise video ever, my 4 month old baby falls asleep in 10-15 min. and sleeps very nice when this video is on,she is sleeping right now actually, i have no words to thank you enough!
Personally for myself, I suffer from heavy anxiety issues, and I always come to this to help me calm down, thank you for this video
yes... those wipers combining with the rain have always had a hypnotizing effect on me. Glad you like it!
This is so relaxing. The sound of the road, the rain... and the wipers are a true bonus.
Eight hours of this would really be fabulous, even if it's just a loop. Thank you for all that you do
I've had trouble sleeping for a long time now, I decided to try this because why not, I was asleep in minutes and slept all night without waking up once. I'm very impressed, and I highly suggest it.

Alphaend If I am in the passenger seat in a long car ride I can pretty much gaurentee I will be out like a light!
Brad McBride me to
favorite idk why but the sound of wipers is so soothing
I visualized myself in a car like I was experiencing the rain. Nice. Goodnight.
Reminds me of when I'd go to florida as a kid. It was a pretty long drive from TN to there, and with minimal breaks. I'd fall asleep so quickly to the hum of the car and the radio playing some old 70-80s tunes.
Alumirust I can't keep my eyes open in the passenger seat during a long car trip. Ergo this sound!
Sounds soo nice
Oh, I was replying to the main comment, or I mean to. I can imagine sleep walking would be terrifying. My cousin used to do it.
I find the windshield wiper rhythm to be hypnotizing. Combine that with the white noise of rain and I zonk out! Glad it helps!!
Thank you so much! I am a notorious car sleeper myself (as long as I'm not driving!!)
Hell yeah, rain sound with car wiper sound! Been searching for this long time. That monotonic wiper sound adds more calming for me.
This makes a perfect background for "Riders on the Storm"!
This is so awesome!!! I get tinnitus from my sinuses alot and the ringing in my ears makes it hard to get to sleep but I put this on and it drowns it right out and I just imagine myself on a long road trip and pass right out. Thank you so much!!

Great video... have to agree with all the comments about the soothing windshield wipers. Hopefully we can get a longer version of this video? Thanks for all that you do.
I keep meaning to do a longer one with actual video... soon!
Exactly! The secret to sleeping ( and hypnotism) is visualizing . We use the same area of our big human brain to 'imagine' as we do to dream .
I can't Imagine trying to sleep with finals around the corner. Thanks to your videos, I can rest easy and forget about them. Thank you so much.
Very hard day.
Decided to come back to this video, and imagine that it's driving me away from all this. -_-
Athena Brown It's all about imagining!
Same haha..
thank you so much! I previously owned a small recording studio and been involved in audio for a long time. These sounds are all available on my website (at higher fidelity, too!). Having tinnitus in both my ears makes it is more then my profession... its my obsession ;:^)
I always found the sound very relaxing... if you weren't the one driving!
Visualizing is the fastest way to fall asleep ... as we 'dream' and also 'imagine' in the same area of the human brain. Glad it helps!
I've said this to you many times thanks for the sleep music it really helps me sleep with all the stress going on in my life. you sir are a god send and a good sport.
Edward Mcinnes I'm glad they work for you!!
OMG,your videos just keep getting better and better
Thank you :)
Thank you for this and for also not putting the ads in halfway through.
Blair Hill I do not like adverts. I will never allow adverts!
I have to say Brad this video is one of my favorite sleep videos!
Thanks a ton! :)
Perfect the rhythm of the wipers help so much!!
Thanks so much. I made mental notes over the last few decades on sounds that help me sleep.... my youtube channel and my website are a result of those observations.
Glad you like it! I will get to a bus ambiance eventually. I am on a quest to record all sounds that help people (including me) sleep.
Slumber-rama! Works good! I gonna sleep and drive the next time it rains. Thx!
Sleep-driving can be dangerous. Good luck! ;)
Make this longer please
Personally, I'd say it was best to stop altogether on the side safest away from traffic and sleep 40 winks, with your headphones on, listening to this recording. Gone in 60secs. A worthy recording, should be saved in the national archive.

CrashingCrockery don't forget the religious radio stations
Brad McBride
Ha ha, ah yes, and those, broadcasting from who knows where! Fiery pulpits to angelic choruses, yes!
and don't forget the ads... "Monster Trucks! Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!"
Brad McBride
Well, at that point is where I would hope it would magically transition into fragmented Chet Atkins or intermittent distant snatches of that scary "Theme song from Mahogany." I am imagining this laaate at night, like 2 AM in the middle of nowhere. But in the daytime, driving through the Texas Panhandle maybe, yeah I could imagine a lot of Monster Truck ads...

Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this, I have such trouble falling asleep and this really helped soothe me as I find I fall asleep quickest when in the car.
I am a great car passenger on a long trip as I will probably be asleep before we get out of town ;:^)
haha... yes, there have been many times while driving long distances in the rain I have found myself nodding off. That's when I do indeed crank up the radio!
My pleasure - being an insomniac myself i have taken note over the years of sounds that put me out like a light. There's more to come so keep checking my channel

These sounds are restful but at the same time vaguely sinister.
Then again rain (and driving) always reminds me of film noir for some reason.
Yes.. it always seems to be raining while driving in those old fifties crime dramas
i love the sound of the wipers. thanks very much for this. subbed because you deserve it.
fiaz shah Thanks!
I don't think I could fall asleep to this, instead of relaxing, it's more nerve wrecking. Those wipers have got to go. If your in the car it's different. I always had the window down just enough for the air to blow on my face, that was also part of the experience!
Mmmmmm. I love your videos, so soothing... Goodnight

Brad McBride Hi Brad. I just wanted to say a massive thank you to you. Brad McBride Thanks, I will. :-) Keep up the good work!
Excellent to avoid the noisy construction near my apartment and work... thanks! Noise Noise everywhere
I hear ya' ;)
Part of it... the audio was mixed from different sources. Some of it was taken in my Ford Ranger, some of it was mixed in to produce the sleep sound. I did not want too many sounds as it might prove to be distracting.
I know what you mean. If I'm not driving it puts me off to sleep rather quickly, too.
Thanks! There is more to come ;:^)
thanks!
would training your brain to sleep to the sounds of driving cause you to more redily fall asleep while driving?
I believe that the brain of someone who can sleep to these sounds is already "Trained" to do so. I for example got sleepy on rain rides before so I especially searched for a Video like this to help me sleep
michael Anthony ooo interesting question...
michael Anthony, lol my name is Michael Anthony too
You should read the 'sleep thoughts' section of my website - I have had trouble falling asleep my entire adult life and I write about it extensively. Anyhoo, glad the sounds help!
there went the relaxed mood!! thanks Brad... ;0)
Its doing its job then! Good to know ;:^)

Glad you like it! I put quite a few sound effects in my sounds in the beginning to set the scene. Most effects are gone by minute five and the main sound takes over
thank you, from Manchester, England.xxx
is there any chance you could make a video of just driving on a nice day where we can hear the engine raddle?
Eventually :)
thank you sir!
It sounds really nice but different from my parent's car so I still cant really fall asleep to it 😅
Thanks my baby likes to sleep in the car and this gets him to sleep within 5mins
This is a great one!
This is so nice, thank you :)
goodnight from las vegas
actually this sound effect scared me and couldn't sleep
True... in a BMW you never really hear the wipers but that would defeat the purpose of this soundscape.
This is amazing Brad
Thank you so much... glad you like it!
Be kool if it was 8hr long it's still good I love your videos can't sleep with out them....zzzzzzzzzzzzz........
Maybe there were ghosts in the car... parlor singing ghosts ~8^o
Good night from San Diego
Hey my phone wont load this. Can you put a shorter version up. Thats would be much appreciated. Love your vids
