I will love this man forever, such a caring, knowledgable soul. I remember being at some useless corporate party and mu mate messaged me, from Glasgow, that he had just passed away. End of evening, end a big part in my life and I never met him. Such a regret, but thanks Lou, still in my heart.
John cale is no ordinary human being, he produced and helped nick drake. Now nick drake is another one of the greatest. So we can understand how great every individual on the stage is.
“I thought you were my mountain top I thought you were my peak I thought you were my everything That I had but could not keep” I thought I knew the song but had never registered those words till now. So good.
Superb version, Lou Reed seems really inspired on this title. Too bad we can not see Stirling Morrison, his guitar part is full of emotion, seems to him against a little distant in this concert. My regret not to have seen them during this epic revival tour Thanks for sharing.
Holy smokes ....this is heavenly.. every note in my frequency. Ty universe ....you give me what I need to heal... Music is medicine. ... I know. ..I have Parkinson's....this is how you cure it.
A huge Velvet fan here. I know you'll nail me to the first piece of wood at hand, but I just love the Emmylou Harris and Sheryl Crow live Pale Blue Eyes cover👍
This and Im Sticking With You live might of been as good or better than the original recordings. Lou is singing it like a country song, and added with Cale's beautiful violin playing and Sterling's true to the original guitar playing, its just a unique, interesting thing to see/hear.
"...singing it like a country song" is a very good observation. It's still enjoyable, but it wouldn't be the timeless classic that it is if the studio version had been like this. The delicate simplicity of the original melody is a little bit lost here.
Michael McLoughlin This song has that feeling, I just don't want it to end. It reminds me of a Jagger & Richards song "The singer not the song" Listen to both songs & see if you get it.
Masterpiece. Don't need complexity, don't need computers and processors. Just need a tamborine, a violine, a fender and a voice. And genious artists. These days they don't make these pieces anymore. Craftmenship is gone, geniousity is gone. Who said rock n roll will never die ? Well not sure about that anymore.
Indeed it is... I have a Pale blue tattoo tear on my right shoulder blade that I got when I was 17 years old. In Capel SR Dublin Ireland. My Grandmother and Grandfather, and also my Uncle ,oh and my Great Uncle. All have pail blue eyes. I loved Nico. Who also had pale blue eyes,...wow. they di longer on ❤
I really do too... I got my first copy of the banana album in 1984 and its still my favourite... this version of the song really brings home how sad i feel that he is gone.. RIP lou
It brought precisely nothing and destroyed a very beautiful song all because he more interested in being self indulgent and refused to give the people who paid to see him what they wanted and for what? Just to be a difficult and a contrarian. Lou was a narcissist .
powerful music like this was meant to relief + console + help emotions+mental health . but most young people today dont want or make powerful music ; so they can only turn to their phones + alcohol drinks + restaurants + drugs for relief + consoling + mental help + emotional help + release .
Guesing this whats you get when you cross backrounds of all of us in a performsnce of our own lives. Cale classical trained, Lou off and on the streets, all together, in this performance. "Hey it was it was good what we did yesteryday., in your pale blue eyes."
The song is so beautiful and given Cales viola and Morrison and Lous voice and the country style is a favourite. Good old 3/4 time. Get tearyeyed up all.
@@theunrealtimemm No you can hear there is no bass on it. Hes playing the melody in the right channel lou is playing chords. Only thing holding the low end is Maureens kick drum. They didnt cut to Sterling probably because they didnt know who was playing what (non musicians lol).
The world is a less interesting place without them ..
Less interesting, and more irritating!
Luckily, they're right here...
Yes
Double Live in Paris is a Masterpiece of Masterpieces❗️❗️❗️We all Miss Lou and the Velvet❗️❗️
Really❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️😥
Everything is there. Beauty. Holiness. Honesty. Purity. Worldliness.
elegance and sweetness too =)
cale's viola is a beautiful touch. adds some weight to an already perfect song.
To see/hear John playing this with the band is almost too much for me, it's so beautiful.
My favorite VU/Lou tune.
It's been ten years since you commented. but 2 years ago a demo was released with an amazing scrapped version and John's backing vocals!
I will love this man forever, such a caring, knowledgable soul.
I remember being at some useless corporate party and mu mate messaged me, from Glasgow, that he had just passed away.
End of evening, end a big part in my life and I never met him.
Such a regret, but thanks Lou, still in my heart.
Sometimes I feel so happy
Sometimes I feel so sad
Thanks Lou and the Velvet Underground. See you guys on the other side. Pale blue eyes.
This is insanely great. So beautiful.
The greatest. My favourite band of all time.
Love cale's slight dissonant touch to such a chiseled jewel of a song
So no shots of Sterling Morrison? Probably the only musician with a doctorate in Anglo-Saxon literature (and a tug-boat captain's ticket).
Well played Sterling, I owe you one.
Well said... I owe him and Lou both...
John cale is no ordinary human being, he produced and helped nick drake. Now nick drake is another one of the greatest. So we can understand how great every individual on the stage is.
“I thought you were my mountain top
I thought you were my peak
I thought you were my everything
That I had but could not keep”
I thought I knew the song but had never registered those words till now.
So good.
Thought of you as my mountaintop
Thought of you as my peak
Thought of you as everything
I've had, but couldn't keep
I've had, but (just) couldn't keep
Every night for a week now I come back here to listen to the Velvet Underground. So sweet and raw. Just like I like it. I linger on.
His songs never die
Such a great song on so many levels and still stands the test of time.
Best version they ever did. Ever.
Respectfully disagree.
A song well played, a nice melody and a good violinist, it's so good to listen Lou Reed
Come on he was a genius no one can be him one of a kind mis him so much
Even though the only percussion is the tambourine, there is so much rhythm. This is my favorite version of this song.
Superb version, Lou Reed seems really inspired on this title.
Too bad we can not see Stirling Morrison, his guitar part is full of emotion, seems to him against a little distant in this concert. My regret not to have seen them during this epic revival tour
Thanks for sharing.
Yes it all comes together on this - and what about Mr. Cale on fire?
i’m so sad about sterling not being in frame, his guitar in this song is truly what makes it so emotional for me
What a beautiful and lovely version. Made it with the heart.
this is beyond beautiful. this time stopping!
Holy smokes ....this is heavenly.. every note in my frequency. Ty universe ....you give me what I need to heal...
Music is medicine. ...
I know. ..I have Parkinson's....this is how you cure it.
R.I.P Lou Reed
A huge Velvet fan here. I know you'll nail me to the first piece of wood at hand, but I just love the Emmylou Harris and Sheryl Crow live Pale Blue Eyes cover👍
Yes, they did a great rendition
Love the Sheryl/Emmylou version. Love the big beautiful band they have backing them as well.
only version that gives the lyrics that unbelievable quality
This and Im Sticking With You live might of been as good or better than the original recordings. Lou is singing it like a country song, and added with Cale's beautiful violin playing and Sterling's true to the original guitar playing, its just a unique, interesting thing to see/hear.

I think that is a viola, not a violin.
Lou John Sterling...This Double Live in Paris is a Mile Stone of XX Century.....❤😮😢😮😲😲
Desde pequeño lo tengo puesto en un altar....Que grande....que clase...que elegancia...
Just beautiful
LOU REED. .GENIO INIMITABLE...HE INCOMPARABLE CREÍDO DE EL ESTILO DE MÚSICA HASTA HOY EN DIA ...R.I.P...GENUO
+PABLO VISCA He also spoke english...
john cale it's good to see you & hear you
Do I love or hate the fact they don't show Sterling once... just back there in the dark recreating the classic
"Skip a life completely." So many have come before us and so many will come after us.
My sister had always said she wanted this sobg played at her funeral. So I guess that's what we're doing.
Mo Tucker, brilliant. Played the tune perfectly.
Michael McLoughlin

I più grandi di sempre insieme ai Doors...rip sterling e Lou..🙏💙
This is a great live album.
Because this is one of music's greatest bands!!!!!

They do linger on❤
Beautiful! R.I.P Lou Reed!
I miss Lou Reed!
Courtney, have you heard The Kills version?
Fuck the Kills man ......................
I really do too...
I got my first copy of the banana album in 1984 and its still my favourite...
this version of the song really brings home how sad i feel that he is gone..
RIP lou
Fuck outta here with your shorty propaganda, VU topples all possible bands out there.
Courtney Casablancas
So so much...:(
beautiful song
He's amazing omg
A moment in time. Superb.
"Once yours, always yours."
I know a story full of pain... God help you. I will pray that your hearts can be united again...
If you wanna listen to the song as it is on the record, just put the record on. I love how Lou used to change every song live.
He lost an octave by this point. Not quite the same without it.
Agree 100%
It brought precisely nothing and destroyed a very beautiful song all because he more interested in being self indulgent and refused to give the people who paid to see him what they wanted and for what? Just to be a difficult and a contrarian.
Lou was a narcissist .

Moe! She's so great.
I want morrison play solo.. hes not session man. Hes one of the greatest VU..
The song is so beautiful and given Cales viola and Morrison and Lous voice and the country style is a favourite. Good old 3/4 time. Get tearyeyed up all.

Awesomely beautiful
Eccezionale ...!!! Grande...!!
Xabi Alonso sabe lo que es la buena musica. Xabi Alonso knows what good music is.
No two versions alike. Mesmerizing.
the violin is heartbreaking
*Viola
What a tune.
great stuff
As dores que a vida nos trás acaba trazendo forças e as emoções são traduzida como belas canções me apaixonei por Pale blue eyes simplesmente linda
i wanted to see Sterling Morrison play solo.. it didn't show
I imagine he was stuck on bass (which he hated), so Cale got the solo.
@@theunrealtimemm No you can hear there is no bass on it. Hes playing the melody in the right channel lou is playing chords. Only thing holding the low end is Maureens kick drum. They didnt cut to Sterling probably because they didnt know who was playing what (non musicians lol).
A love story, like Shane Mac Gowans," A Rainy Night In Soho." The lyrics are so remindfull.

Quel succés ça fait chaud au coeur.... 😄
Just let your heart get broken...
Was this London or Paris? I was at the London gig, I was just 21, seems like a lifetime ago.
RIP LOU
