Meat Boy can't stop taking Ls can't it? It really feels like a corporation desperately trying to find the new cool thing to grow the IP instead of passionate developers with an idea. Also the Puyo Puyo with obstacles idea could be fun if they actually build the gameplay around them besides just resetting you to the last checkpoint. Like why not use them more unconventionally? Have the player think outside the box by purposely killing undesired pieces or have the petrified pieces count as the same type for extreme combos. The levels really feel like made at random with no idea behind hiw you are supposed to solve them, which really sucks for a puzzle game.
I didn't think it would be that bad at 7:01 how did we go from songs like betus blues to something worse then a 5 year old could make with google music lab

Those obstacles looks so frustrating. On top of a delay and hit box stuff, I don’t think I think I would even consider playing this one. Nice video yo!
The more I think about it, the more Tetris really does work better for this game idea. Obstacles on the way down could sheer off parts of your piece, or cause those parts to drop where they are down the screen. Missals and saws could target your stack. There's the seed of a good game in here, it just wasn't used properly. It's sad.
when i saw images of the games marketing, it seemed like some possibly cool/unique idea where dr fetus controlled an army of minions for something or whatever, but then its just... puyo puyo.
While I haven't listened to the other pieces of music in Mean Meat Machine, I personally love how hard Meat Hugger (the music for the Lil' Slugger boss) slaps.
When I saw the ending in super meat boy forever, I thought they was going to make a multi-player platformer game based on doctor fetus testing machines, or making better machines/minions to use against the real meat boy, but we got this... 🤷♂️
So a few months ago, I beat Mean Bean Machine and I absolutely loved playing it (even if it broke me sometimes) and I saw that this was for sale and I literally just didn't buy it because I knew that it wouldn't be as fun as Mean Bean Machine
Don’t worry! The next game will be a live service hero shooter where it’s meat people versus mr fetus’s forces! It will have loot crates and a battle pass! And if you preorder the game, you will get a 2x damage buff!!! Imagine how high you will get in the leaderboards with that!
I watched whole video even trough im not planning to buy this game, or interested in such game genre. Idk why but it was just nice to watching this dude talking and showcasing game
I hate sonas in general, but this is one of the worst I've ever seen. Combined with his whiney and over complaining tone it just feels miserable to watch. Which is why I'm leaving
I think the TH-cam channel Caddicrus described this game best when he says "At this point, the [Super Meat Boy] franchise was like a man with a missing arm and then in comes strolling [Mean Meat Machine] to save the day saying "Hey don't worry I can fix that! Just rub a bit of cream on it!" That is exactly what this game is [Dr. Fetus' Mean Meat Machine] is a useless cream on the stump of a man with no arm. You can't save [Super Meat boy]'s missing arm the cream won't work just give up."
I think this game should have gone the puzzle route. So each level is a specific challenge. Like you have 15 beans/meats that will come down in the same order every time and you need to figure out how to stack them to beat it. This could also work with the obstacles. Like using a rocket to destroy one random color that then triggers a full combo or using a buzz saw to destroy one half of a falling pair while saving thw other half. It would take that idea of Meatboy and transfer it to puyopuyo pretty well. Plus it would help to train people on how to create combos and get better at the game while also differentiating it from your standard puyopuyo
how do you get Puyo Puyo out of sonic, a momentum platformer? Well SEGA wanted to localize Puyo Puyo, of-course! how do you get Puyo Puyo out of meat boy, a precision platformer? Don’t Ask.
2:20 her smile and optimism; gone. Also i think it's funny that a lot of the better songs in this game just... sound like "playful" remixes of The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth tracks... often ones that were themselves supposedly from Forever. And if they went with Tetris, then we could've gotten something that's strangely brilliant: A spiritual successor to Nyet. A tetris game that's doing it's damndest to throw you off your game with weird tricks and traps that make some kind of sense but are still able to blindside you when laid out in sequence, just like a Meat Boy stage.
Really hoped this would be like Dr. Mario, Tetris with pills, dominos, puyonoo... Both those games (moreso Super) would be a good way to detox after the bad later ones in the series.
@@SkullPlayGaming Damn. I didn’t know that. At least Hot Coffee is in the map pack expansion levels in that same version. I know as I unlocked & saw it.
I was excited to play a new meat boy game. I avoided forever because I didn't want an auto runner. I love puyo and have beaten the early tites too many times to count. You can probably imagine my disappointment when I played the demo and realized that all skill and fun for Puyo was out the window. When even the demo tells you "BEWARE!" you know it's not going to be good. I have no idea how the reviews for that are good by any means. I will say, it would be funny if they paid for reviews. Someone has no idea what they're doing and too much money. How did playtesting go? When life gives you a truckload of gold, please remember, spend it all in one place as fast as you can. Specifically on hookers and booze. Look what they did to my boy. :(
Honestly they could have made so the levels were a little more predictable being the timing Piece dependant instead of time dependant. and give a better Telegraph at exchange of a predictable RNG on the colours, so you are forced to strategize within the level gimmicks instead of just... avoid them while strategizing which is not really fun, and too frustrating
I loved super meat boy, it's pretty sad how things went downhill with the "series". It started way earlier than forever even. Super meat boy has a level editor and there was an online level hub called super meat world. I was pretty hyped for that, a basically infinite amount of cool levels to play that other people would make as well as the ability to create and share my own levels. However, the database admin credentials were left in the client code. Due to this amateurish security flaw, super meat world was trivial to hack into. People notified the games programmer, Tommy, on Twitter, and he gave an arrogant response amounting to "Shut up, I'm a professional and know what I'm doing". So naturally the whole thing got hacked and shut down. I had to wait years for that game, which Nintendo delivered in the form of Mario Maker. Rant over.
this game really feels like what would come out after a big, greedy corporation bought out one of your beloved franchises like the first thing they do after buying out a game series would be to make a mobile game
one thing that i gotta talk about is that you keep saying that super meat boy is the original meat boy, when no, the flash version is the original version (which tbh is the better version due to not having a stupid run button), so when talking about the original, talk about the flash version, not its remake also real quick before i forget, wow, mean meat machine's music sounds like a midi file, the bad kind

YESS this comment n the reply !!
it makes me so sad with what happened here, it aint a bad game imo but so much more couldve been done it hurts.
What sucks is if they made the player use the traps to their advantage rather than them just being pointless obstacles it could've been good.
I didn't think it would be that bad at 7:01
how did we go from songs like betus blues to something worse then a 5 year old could make with google music lab
because it's using midi instruments used in the likes of doom or something
It feels like Tommy really needs to move on from Meat Boy and find a good team/partner for another original project. Even if you didn't include Binding of Isaac, Edmund has been doing well by working with Tyler Glaiel on The End is Nigh and Mewgenics.
its like a ghost stuck in our world. It just can't decide whether it wants to cling to Edmund or try something new, and it's resulted in a mash of both that doesn't work out and feels like it's both trying too hard to be appealing while also just being a soulless cash grab
i hate how this guy is so underrated better then most youtubers nowadays but barely gets rarely gets 2% of the terrible minecraft short channels
I hate this guy
unfortunately the way that the algorithm works is that it requires constant uploads, and unfortunately for people that effort into their videos, that just isn't possible
@@Skokapus i mean there is alot of content creators like Alan becker dani oddoneout and more who take more than a month to make a video but still get millions of views because there content is unique and entertaining in there own way and I think this guy will get popular eventually it will just take some time because there a new national
Accept most youtubers are doing what he's doing now lol
Thats a guy?!
I feel like if they made combos a requirement, that’d make it more line with the Meat Boy games. It’d recreate the feeling of trying a level over and over until you understand it, and finally get that big ass combo. Of course the obstacles would have to be more fair, but I feel like that’s be cool
Those obstacles looks so frustrating. On top of a delay and hit box stuff, I don’t think I think I would even consider playing this one. Nice video yo!
13:24 if you listen closely, the music here is actually re-used from TBOI. It’s the Mausoleum theme.
4:45 trying to clone meatboy is meta commentary about how the corpos keep trying to clone the original game without understanding it.
At this point I wouldn't be surprised if someone would've preferred tofu boy over this
What do you mean the legend of bum-bo works? Half the achievements are bugged and you get softlocked every second game (still really fun tho)
You've got a great, underrated channel. Amazing stuff!! :)
I really like Dr. Fetus as a character so I was hoping it would've been good
The more I think about it, the more Tetris really does work better for this game idea.
1:54 One of the rules of Steam: don't trust the reviews; they're probably made for fun.
5:14 I think they look like this because it's Dr fetus' computer. So he wouldn't make it all flashy.
Don’t worry! The next game will be a live service hero shooter where it’s meat people versus mr fetus’s forces! It will have loot crates and a battle pass! And if you preorder the game, you will get a 2x damage buff!!! Imagine how high you will get in the leaderboards with that!
GaMeR hUmOr 🥴
Dr Fetus’ Mean Meat Machine: the Nyet 3: Revenge of the Mutant Stones of Puyo Puyo games.
That goofy regular show dance tho 💀💀💀
the muscle man part got me dying
I watched whole video even trough im not planning to buy this game, or interested in such game genre. Idk why but it was just nice to watching this dude talking and showcasing game
I didn’t even know meatboy had a sequel. I thought the closest thing was petas bad tofu boy
Honestly, I like the old sprites for your sona, I felt like they were more expressive
I hate sonas in general, but this is one of the worst I've ever seen. Combined with his whiney and over complaining tone it just feels miserable to watch. Which is why I'm leaving
I can sense Ed sheer of Disapoinment when seeing this comes out
It’s really telling when Edmund makes posts clarifying that he’s not involved with Meat Boy anymore whenever a new Team Meat game comes out
I think the TH-cam channel Caddicrus described this game best when he says "At this point, the [Super Meat Boy] franchise was like a man with a missing arm and then in comes strolling [Mean Meat Machine] to save the day saying "Hey don't worry I can fix that! Just rub a bit of cream on it!" That is exactly what this game is [Dr. Fetus' Mean Meat Machine] is a useless cream on the stump of a man with no arm. You can't save [Super Meat boy]'s missing arm the cream won't work just give up."
I can't wait for the moba spinoff "meat smack royale" in the ebic meatboy series
Edmund carried meatboy, and without him the series feels like a corporate cash grab without any creativity.
Don’t Ask.
2:20
her smile and optimism; gone.
Dr Robotnik's gonna be pissed
The state Meat Boy’s in can be compared to Sonic’s, and even that series of all things seems to know what the fuck to be.
Really hoped this would be like Dr. Mario, Tetris with pills, dominos, puyonoo... Thx for playing, so I don't have to;o)
Favourite spinoff puzzler is Might and Magic-Clash of Heroes, fun mechanix with walls and attack patterns. Was just ported to swutch, new grafic but no new content... still good;o)
Nice to see you again man, kinda forgot you existed but this time I subscribed to make sure that doesn't happen again. Look forward to seeing more of your stuff in the future. Have a good one
ngl i kinda liked the small bit of music that you played on the music part.
after searching for the ost i can indeed confirm that the first 10 seconds are good but the rest of the music is like, its basically like the equivalent of hearing someone try their best and then just stop trying at all
I only saw it thanks to me listening to the original soundtrack for super meat boy on Spotify, so you know you done goof when me of all people sees the soundtrack for this while or after I listened to some track from the original game!
maybe one day we get a second super meat boy game that deserves a title of being a super meat boy game
Paper Mario's drastic changes were... apparently because Miyamoto started being harsher on certain forms of departure from the Mario formula. I'm too hungry and too tired to remember or even really look up the details.
Meatball, you made a video about SMBF, but not the original. Can you make a video about Super Meat Boy?
My opinion
Story: it's an arcade game what do you expect.
Art: Your just nostalgic over a video game.
Music: it's pretty bad ngl I'll give you that one.
Gameplay: SKILL ISSUE 💀
By the way forever is a good game.
WOOO!!! THE LEGEND IS BACCKKKK 😂🎉
“Let’s hope this never happens again”
Found your channel with this videos and already watched all the others, hope you continue with you great work :D
Compairing this to forever is like compairing crash 1 and parrapa the rapper
I think at this point it's time to let go of Meat Boy. He got 2 great games and that's more than a lot of other franchises can say.
0:05 DID THAT WIDOWMAKER RELOAD
Team Meat tried to pull a Yakuza Like A Dragon and failed miserably
I genuinely thought this was a bootleg on the playstore until watching this video.
I didn’t even know this game existed till now like wow..
Super meat boy forever is one of the best platformers of all time and easily in my top 3 I’ve ever played, I just finished the game last night with A+ on every level, and I can’t wait to new game plus and keep going the game is AMAZING…
Can you do a review for The End is Nigh and compare to Meat Boy games? BTW Great Vid!
I honestly think it's just a better candy crush
meat boy vs meat ball
You better be careful insulting the games or they might pull a Tofu Boy and put you in the next game as a weak and impossible character
Oh wait they won’t because they ain’t Edmund
Wait Edmund left team meat? Christ
I didn't even know this existed until now
I can't wait for this channel to grow
I hope this downfall of the meat boy franchise is just because all the energy is going into a main entry that will be fantastic
Enjoying your videos! Will you do videos on the original Meat Boy and Super Meat Boy too? For the former, I recommend The Basement Collection version as it comes with the map pack expansion and doesn’t have lag/game speed problems that some builds of Flash seemed to have for your footage of it.
Both those games (moreso Super) would be a good way to detox after the bad later ones in the series.
In The Basement Collection version there is no hot coffee :(
@@SkullPlayGaming Damn. I didn’t know that. At least Hot Coffee is in the map pack expansion levels in that same version. I know as I unlocked & saw it.
Meat boy is slowing just becoming the binding of issac
New Meatball vid lets gooooo!
I don't mind if an IP tries out different genres, but I also know that everyone is waiting for the next classical Meat Boy game.
at first i thought this game would be like kill the plumber
RETURN OF MEAT
ball
Disney: *Starts remaking their old movies to souless IRL movies despite no one asking*
Team meat: write that down! WRITE THAT DOWN
I was excited to play a new meat boy game.
Rant over.
this game really feels like what would come out after a big, greedy corporation bought out one of your beloved franchises
like the first thing they do after buying out a game series would be to make a mobile game
it amazes me the first thought for a spin off was "puyo puyo" and not something like crypt of the necrodancer
i love your videos!
This game reminds me of Touhou Hundred Black Market. Meat Boy Forever is to Meatboy what Touhou Hundred Black Market is to Touhou games.
14:25
I passed the final boss so fast that I had a bug at the end of the level 3 times
Only on the fourth attempt was i able to pass, lol
You know it's bad when half the lines in the video "praise" something about forever
celeste??? did i hear celeste?????? celeste my beloved, eat sleep celeste, live laugh celeste, air? nah, i breathe celeste
video essay moment
He really is very fucking whiney. Even if he is correct in most of his points, I despise his tone.
"We have ways to make you talk."
"Like what?"
" *The meatboy sequels* "
"AAAAAAAAA-"
Puyo puyo = Kirby’s avalanche
Kirby’s avalanche = Kirby
Kirby = Platformer
Platformer = Super meat boy
We are so back
I've been staving for a game like Super Meat Boy again, and seeing Mean Meat Machine just hurts for a hardcore meat boy fan like me.
YOOOOOOO you finally uploaded
one thing that i gotta talk about is that you keep saying that super meat boy is the original meat boy, when no, the flash version is the original version (which tbh is the better version due to not having a stupid run button), so when talking about the original, talk about the flash version, not its remake
also real quick before i forget, wow, mean meat machine's music sounds like a midi file, the bad kind
Very good review 👍!
