JMT Backpacking | Yosemite Valley to Tuolumne Meadows 2018

- Backpacking along the majestic John Muir Trail from Yosemite Valley to Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite National Park. The adventure began on June 16th, 2018, starting at the northern terminus of the JMT in Happy Isles, and quickly climbed nearly 6,000 feet to my first night at Sunrise Lakes. From Sunrise I made my way into Tuolumne Meadows just before noon, where I enjoyed some Mammoth Brewing Co. beers and a burger - lovely! 26.25 miles in total with 6,976 feet of elevation gain (according to my Gaia app). Rode the "hiker bus" back to Yosemite Valley, full of zen and happiness. I will be back!

Great video. Really enjoy all of your journeys. I live about 2 hours from Yosemite, so when the park is opened again and it's safe, I plan on hiking the Mist to Vernal and Nevada Falls, then back down the JMT. Hikes after that will be all over Tuolumne Meadows, since I've never been there. Really would like to fly fish the Lyell Fork and hike the canyon, as well. Can't wait.
Where was your water source and did you filter it or boil? Also, what type of food did you bring such as snacks, etc.? Thanks!

Those metal signs were there in 1972 when I hiked through there in early June, lottsa snow. That ascent is pretty steep and long, hiking up out of the Valley. Cathedral Peak was my first mountain summit oh so long ago. Nice video, brings back memories. Missed your lovely wife, maybe next time.

Nice to see you back Sheety. Thought you'd gone off the radar. You must be one really fit dude and appreciate the wonderful scenic moments you capture. Was in Dunbar Scotland a while back and visited John Muir's house, a simple abode in the main street with American flags outside. Thanks again from here in Australia.

I thought you were required to stay at little Yosemite valley your first night. Also, the hiker bus says it’s not running in 2018. Did you end up getting a ride back to the valley? I’m going up pretty soon
Andreas Christodoulou Sunrise Lake pass thru permit. The Yosemite Lodge “hiker bus” is running...may have modified hours during the week.

Normally I love the videos you put out, but the teal/orange color grade you've put on this video just completely ruins what are usually amazing views. Please don't follow that awful color grading trend.

So, I’m watching your video, listening intently on your narration; you narrate well. Then... the most annoying music, ever... I simply cannot watch anymore.
