The way ive been waiting for my entire life to see ag break down something hes produced and i will now be mapping my reverb to an lfo on every single synth i ever make bc thats all he said LMFAO
Right?!? I couldn't believe how simple it was. Just the default sawtooth with an envelope, reverb with that 1 mapping and it sounds so good. Same with the drums. Definitely looking at music differently after watching this.
@@shrekogreface7411 music is simple, it's just about having the right ingredients smashes together. Like charli said, simplicity most of the time makes it harder and is the key
I know that they are talking about detuning but it looks like the lfo is mapped to reverb size? It will just change dry/wet signal. I think they bounced it and the detune is done after.
@@sebastianwalach8626 nah bro, if you change reverb size while the track is playing it’s gonna detune everything in a really cool way. it would only change the dry/wet signal if the lfo was mapped to dry/wet…which it’s not…

Can anyone help me understand how the reverb detune is having such a big effect on the sound? My attempts at recreating have not been able to get it. I can't help but wonder about that super vhs plugin affecting that synths detune too
I actually (I could be wrong) think they were mistaken in this video to be honest - the detune sound is most likely coming from the SuperVHS plugin on the track and not the (very minimal) modulation on the reverb size. They also have a unison with a bit of detune on the saw wave.
Hi, Charli XCX, thank you for sharing your video. While those wearing-headphones-with-your-hands-down routine might not be my cup of tea, I appreciate the effort you put into creating it. Everyone has different tastes, and I respect your perspective. Wishing you the best with your channel!
I love this whole album but I usually skip past this one when listening. It’s nice first two listens. But it’s unfinished as a club track. This one should definitely get a volume 2 with some Baltimore Philly or Native Jersey Artist on it like the shows inspired by UNIIQU3.
oh wow, "yeah our signature sound for this world we've built was really made up of 808s and 909s". incredible insight into a true innovative artistic vision
Not sure what's so mind blowingly complex about this that it can't be surmised in a 5 minute video. They probably produced this song in an hour. What makes it good is the writing - all of the sounds can be cranked out on serum with minimal processing 🤷♂️
@@mich3134 care to expand on that? I'm praising Charli and her team for being good songwriters. My assertion is just that the producers are clearly trying to obfuscate what they're doing. Which is silly because the sound design itself is incredibly simple - just a bunch of square waves and saw waves.
I'm glad people are appreciating the creativity of underground dance music and putting it into these pop songs, but my big beef is how neutered and lacking in bite and rawness they sound because they are all coming from in the box. Seeing that OSCAR synth in the background and remembering how nasty a sound Ed Rush and Optical got from that thing, makes me feel that people should get back to using more hardware and not just drenching things in VST reverbs and bollocks like that to make stuff sound interesting. Nothing really gets you going as that nasty dance music that was being made from the late 80s to the late 90s in all those home studios and small independent record labels. It all sounds too nice to really hit the same way. Give me Drexciya and stuff recorded into a tape 4 track any day over this new stuff.
The difference between the over the top quirkiness of Everything is romantic and the provocatorily obvious Club classics was clear but I realise just now they were produced by different persons. Still on the album the more banale (von dutch, club classics or apple) works well with the wacky and outlandish. I guess it grounds the album and makes it palatable for the mainstream because let's be honest, this is not a mainstream record at all. Its savage depiction of the average tiktoker girl (starting from the green screen green on the cover) is tragicomically cruel. And naturally Charli and AG Cook are a talented artistic couple ..the microtonal games pc music has been playing 4 a decade now I always found quite brilliant.
Ooooooh wow, nice hyperpop kick loop with 30 channels of synth automation that could have been achieved with just 4-5 channels, sooooo original and impressive
Sorry to George but he is the least interesting person to listen to talk about this stuff. I'm sure he's a fine producer but he did not say a single useful thing in this entire video.
