Pam, I so enjoy your videos, not just the projects but also your commentary. Please do not take this the wrong way because in my world this is a compliment: as a child, I had no siblings and lived in the country and had little chances to have playmates. I would talk to my imaginary “friends”. My mother lovingly called me “Princess Running Mouth”. You are the “Queen”! Absolutely love, love, love listening to you in this time of staying home. Thanks!

LOL, no offense taken and I can totally relate. I am an only child too :). I was pretty shy and quiet as a kid and had to train myself to talk on these videos. I think I put it in overdrive ...hehehe ;)

When people talk and talk when they do projects, I turn the volume down, however, when I watch you, I just have to listen to you. I love the voices that you do, I love sunny. I just love the things you say, you always make my heart smile. Thank you Pam, you are amazing, please never change ❤

Nancy Drew, Bobsey Twins, Honey Bunch and Norman, The Happy Hollisters....so many great books in my childhood. Watching your videos is almost always an adventure for the mind. You have a true gift for making your viewers feel at home. I imagine pulling up a chair right next to you while you craft away...sometimes I'm crafting right along with you. Thanks for being you and sharing with others.

In 6th grade we had an advanced art class. I was so excited to do bigger and better things. We were assigned to paint something, anything from a foreign country.
We were living in Maryland but I was born in El Paso Texas and we went to Juarez fairly often. There was a mission style church with an iron fence around it's dusty front yard area. Mostly sand with patches of grass. There were always kids playing in the yard. Jump rope, marbles, spinning tops (early 70s). Tops and marbles were in style🤣
Anyway.... I worked on my project. Background with the church first and I'd blocked in places for kids. I think three were kneeling with marbles way back. Fuzzy with out alot if detail.
Out front in the painting were two girls turning a rope and one caught mid jump. Inspired by friends. I had cheekbones and shadows suggesting faces but no hard features. I was bad with eyes.
The teacher was praising my work and said it was beautiful and beyond my years. Then she said the children were a little too ethnic looking and I needed to lighten their skin tone. It was years later before I realised she was racist. I'm an army brat and moved alot. I've been around all kinds of people and even on the tail end of civil rights movements going on I didn't understand what the big deal was if Johnny was black and Joe was white and they were friends. Kids want friends and will make them of any race if not overly influenced against it by their adult influencers. I had more Mexican friends than white. We did fine as long as adults stayed out of things.
I took the points off and left my kids brown skinned. We had just moved to Maryland and I was missing my friends I'd just left in Texas. I was also removed from the advanced class.

I was an army brat too, and understand and have lived it too, except i would be the one with the brown skin. We settled in the south, and the Art teacher was the only teacher that didn't show prejudice toward me. I took some art classes in Junior college, and was encouraged to go beyond...

I found the destruction of the book disturbing. Aren't there enough truly worthless writings around that could have been used for a "junk journal"?

Actually, I remember when that book was published, and it was definitely after 9/11. I used to live in Spencer, Iowa, and I knew Dewey when he was alive. Just as the author wrote, Dewey was a gentlemanly cat who would greet patrons when the library opened and sat at the door when it was closing time. I've not yet been able to have a cat of my own, so when I was there (back in 2001), I would always look for Dewey. He was such a sweet kitty and everyone loved him to bits. The town mourned big time when he passed.

Don't know if you'll see this since it's 2023, and you did this video in 2021. I took the summer off, and I'm ready to get going playing with paper, glue , ribbon, and lace . You have always been my inspiration. Either crafting with you or following along. Anyways, you asked about going to art school. I did major in mixed media before it was a thing 😂 and then finished up with desktop publishing. In the beginning and depending on the class, instructors would mark down if you tried to be creative. I guess they wanted to make sure you understood the "science." The process of the hows and whys of designing a page or ad. Blessing to you, Papa, and Sunshine ❤

Imagine my joy when I found out that the sale is this week! They are taking freewill donations! Oh my goodness, I got some amazing books with beautiful and strong covers. Problem is that some of the books I don't want to ruin the book. I haven't read a few that I got with pictures across the US. I attended Art classes as both an undergraduate and graduate. History and processes permitted little inspiration, but the classes in drawing, painting, bookmaking, pan pastels, etc. An important concept has stayed with me: Learn the rules and then you can break them with abandon. It improves art, writing-anything creative. This was especially true of Design classes. Decades later (yes, I’m sure it’s not been centuries) I don’t think about the “rules” I learned, but the rules support my crazy creativity. Love your channel. You are a comfortable companion in these days of isolation. I must search for that woven spine cover-could crochet something in a funky yarn. Carry on!

My last HS art class pretty much torpedoed me out of art, I’m in my 70’s and picking it up again, finally. Too much criticism for my sensitive unsure self. My instructor wasn’t all that supportive, she liked the advanced students.
The single most important, life changing thing I have learned from you Pam is...”create with reckless abandon”! That made overcoming the open, frightening page much easier. I keep that front and foremost in my head! Especially if I hesitate to try creating something for the first time! All the encouraging things you keep repeating can’t be overstated. Creative people tend to be unsure about their own works. Thank you for being the inimitable ‘you’...your encouragement, upbeat attitude, enthusiasm and sense of humor are unique and precious gifts! Hugs.

I have to say thank you! I have watched for a while and learned everything does not have to be perfect. So much more fun to just keep going and creating. I appreciate you so much! My projects are more enjoyable and have turned out so much better by adopting the attitude of just going with it. Love your sense of humor and that is probably one of the cutest dogs I have ever seen! Thank you!

I'm listening to you talk as I craft. Im finishing up a bunch of journals and adding more to my stash for a craft fair at the senior center where I'm a member. In early Dec.
If I get them all finished I will have 16. I'm also have some hand made purses. I also have some scarves and some fabric cuffs, and book marks to add to my booth.

This was so relaxing to watch on my first night following the polar vortex or whatever Texas just spent the past week dealing with. I have power and water in my house now, and the one busted pipe was in the garage where it caused no damage and was easily (but not so cheaply) repaired.
I have neighbors and friends who were not so fortunate, and we still need you guys to keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we continue to work our way back to normal around here.
This is yet another really simple and fun project using stuff that is easily found. Thanks for providing a place for us to forget about the chaos around us for a little while tonight.

Watching your videos is like hearing Bob Ross with your "technical" terms and story telling as you work vs. the speed through demos of DYI. Love it. Also LOVE that spine, going to have to go through the comments to see what it is and where to find it.

Went to art school, had a blast! It really depended on the professor as to whether following instructions was important. I had a painting teacher who would have been very disappointed had I followed instructions. He used to say that he looked forward to my assignments to see what direction I'd gone. A printing teacher who marked me down because I refused to do exactly what she said. I liked my results but was always just off of what she wanted. I'm still happy with what I did and I'd go to art school all over again if I could! So much fun!!!

Good morning, Pam and Sunny! On the question of art school...I attended the Corcoran College of Art and Design for 2 years and finished at JU in their fine arts dept. I studied portraiture, anatomy, oil painting, and art history. It was a great basis for me. It was also set. Individual style wasn't encouraged. In later classes we were encouraged to find our own styles. I love being creative and enjoying your videos and making journals.
