British did immeasurable amount of damage to country. But unlike what you say about caste.. It was due to British that lower caste people started to get some jobs, they were able to be seen a little in public spaces. There are written documents where people of low caste described how English were benevolent towards them in comparison to upper castes... And stop peddling propaganda that British created caste... Shooting duration in movie is 4 mins.
But in reality it was more than 10 mins.
They kept shooting until they ran out of ammunition.
What they haven't shown is that he individually corrected the soldiers who were missing the shots and ordered them to shoot at the densest section of the crowd so that more people can get killed in less time and Bullets (Remember in RRR)

35:39 Yeah, most of the people think Bhagat Singh a rebellious young man with a gun in agression. But that's not the case he was a nice guy, he was a prolific writer ; even he used to write in newspaper since his teenage. Like seriously today's teens are nothing compared to him. His writings were so impactful that most of them were burnt but some of them survived and definitely consider reading those, I bet you will be a fan of him. Also he was a brilliant speaker(English), infact he destroyed the British judiciary in his court hearings. He was way smarter than today's youth, and the best thing was that he wasn't sad when he was being executed, infact he said that his death will bring more rebellion than his life because if he survived people will find his mistake and that would make him unlikable, infact he said this is the perfect time to die so that people will rise up and revolt.
That kind of a man he was at 23 , we know nothing, definitely consider watching his writings audiobooks , u will be surprised how a teen can be so mature even at that time. I'm exaggerating so much because I've never seen a such a brilliant revolutionary in my life , he was a brilliant planner and executor. Infact he has written some writing on how youths should be , definitely consider watching that videos. I'm waiting for the response. ❤

i guess y'all are generalising Indian cinema based off of 2-3 movies you've watched (4:24) You're not entirely wrong in that assessment, most commercial movies follow that same thing, but there's always been a parallel cinema, which is thought provoking and not made for masses for profit. these days because of online movies the lime between those art films and commercial ones is getting blurred (case in point sardar uddham)

Udham Singh is a revered name in every Indians heart , not just in Punjab. You two are probably the first reviewers who've actually "got" the full depth of the movie, specially the tiny snatches that reveal glimpses of the philosophical undertone to these absolutely splendid generation of young people . Thanks , this was brilliant.

In my opinion the first half is a good way to portray an empty and broken man with an agenda. I think over the years throughout the world film has made us believe that reactions are dramatic in a way that is visible and we believe it with great acting but in reality, a person's demeanor is usually more quiet and dull. Because unlike in a movie life doesn't have the limited time of a movie where things are shown in a fast forward more dramatic way to induce believability

I think the movie is from a combine outside perspective, one of them being the British officers perspective who interrogated Udham. When that officer asked Udham, "is there anything i can do for you?",Udham said, "tell people i was a revolutionary ".so i think the Officer learned about Udham from the information British intelligence agencies knew and his conversations with Udham,Udham told the second half of the story from his perspective, later that officer maight have writen something, which came out later.similerly other people might have writen something about Udham ,the whole film is from all those perspective combined,it is kind of a documentary.
Also we don't have a lot of information about these historical characters, which is why we see very little of his personal side, the only perspective of him is the story he told that officer just before his death.
It is said at the end of the film that there are several secret documents related to Udham Singh remain undisclosed till date.

I don't hate today's british people for crimes committed by thier forefathers. They're inclusive, secular and all about freedom. What i hate is their ignorance towards their own history, audacity to take pride in such dark histoy, worshipping those historical figures and royal family who committed such horrific crime and their condescending nature towards Indians. Our forefathers built this country on their own from a scratch when britishers left us with poverty & with poverty comes hunger helplessness, disease, greed, crimes, social injustice, illiteracy and many other things. We fought all of that and now we are one of the largest economy and we achieved a lot in these 77 years of independence. There are still many problems that we are fighting against. But sometimes you just need to take a break and just admire what your country has achieved despite difficult circumstances.

Well, Surprisingly this Movie didn’t came to the Oscar.
If it would came, Atleast it would take 10 Awards
Well this is an Official Record from British sources itself that around 10 Crore (100 Millions) Indian Freedom Fighters were Martyred while fighting for India's Independence from Last 200 Year.
Sardaar Udham Singh was one of those 100 Millions.
So you can imagine how mu h would be the Number unofficially.

I did not understand how it is an American art or American way ? Songs and Music are integral part In Indian culture but they are only introduced in the film according to its need as director felt about about it ,
Here soul goal was to show what happened in Jalianwala Bagh and who was Sardaar Udham Singh according to documents collected over him.

57:45 Sorry to say but non-violence only works in civilized systems.
Wars are violent, when men go and die- no one cares it's just simply an event. People move on but when women and children are killed, it sparks outrage. It starts a chain of events, sadly that's how it has been.
Jalian walah bagh was one such event. It sparked outrage nation-wide, it was the final nail in the coffin.
If you want to, you can learn a bit about the context of British rule by watching few videos on the topic. If you're interested, people can recommend you, even I can recommend some videos on the topic.

The British didn't see US as HUMANS, the British crown thought of India as_ profit , loss , influence, strategic value and cash cow to exploit. During World war 2 when whole world was so against Hitlers prosecution and massacre , the world overlooked that b@stard winston churchill who forcefully took away all the food reserves for Bengal (when there was a bad harvest already) and shipped it to London in the name of stocking up food reserves for the war (while they never even used that reserves for another 9 mouths ). This inhuman stocking of food resulted in the Great bengal famine(1/4 of bengals population died in that famine) . This was an artificial famine created by the British for two reasons 1. because Bengal at that time was a centre for revolutionary activities as Kolkata was the capital for British India for a long time and 2. to stock for the war at the expense of the Indian people. The British sucked out 45 trillion dollars worth of wealth from india. And we will never forget this bullying and exploitation. Some day they will get their karma back it may not be us but somebody else but Karma always hits back harder it's true for all nations every nation declines some day and that's when it gets bullied by the world.
